AIBU to feel upset that a well known journo sent me a shirty tweet?

I follow someone who I find amusing and likeable but recently tweeted her for giving away the ending to a series on telly (watching on sky+).
We've exchanged many tweets over the years and I sent a low key grumble but got a nasty lob back.
Ffs- I've felt all snubbed all week. Am I daft?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo As I am much older than I look I have to tell you we're talking about the last century. ;)

She might spend her life sending emails now, but then it wasn't normal. Really not normal. :o

OffMeTrolley · 10/02/2012 21:39

lol, i got an arsy tweet from martin lewis a while ago

rubyslippers · 10/02/2012 21:40

I exchanged 2 tweets with James Max about tea Grin

Have never been shouted at by a sleb on Twitter

WrigglyWorm · 10/02/2012 21:41

Speaking of sleb journo's overreactions I saw a google link to an MN thread where Jon Ronson AND his Missus took some MNers to task for criticising his squeaky voice. It got pretty ugly! I think journos have a love/hate relationship with new media - they love that they can quickly self publish their comments and HATE the fact that like people can y'know RESPOND and umm maybe even challenge them! Not like that in print world you see.

margoandjerry · 10/02/2012 21:44

I have some sympathy with the fact that anonymity makes people much ruder than they would be in real life so eg, the comments section of the Times is really quite unedifying. I'm sure it's the same on Twitter. But there are also some very self-important media types out there and India Knight is one of them. Not sure if I would say that to her face though [hypocritical smiley]

margoandjerry · 10/02/2012 21:45

oh and sorry, the OP obviously wasn't being rude. Just lots of people on twitter and online comments are and so maybe the journos get a big punchy in return.

OliviaMumsnet · 10/02/2012 21:45

@SuePurblybilt

I am laying claim to Feckjit for feckingeejit then.

I have no clue who Emma Kennedy is. I keep thinking of the Emma who was on Going Live Grin

That's Emma Forbes. I met her once. She was VERY glossy.

I loved Going Live.

Pagwaatch · 10/02/2012 21:48

I don't understand Twitter so my comments are even more pointless thsn normal.

But I always feel a bit sorry for celebs. Everyone thinks their encounter with you is definitive. You spend your life smiling and signing autographs. Then one day you get stopped by some git as you are buying arse cream for your agonizing piles, you are rude, and they spend the rest of their life telling anyone who will listen what a miserable twat you are.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/02/2012 21:52

that was me and Jon Ronson, the creepy little fucker actually got hold of my personal email (i blame Caitlin Moran) and sent me a howler. (and all because i'd called him a creepy little fucker when MP was saying how much she'd like to shag him.)

Seriously, when in the last century was this that journalists weren't professional senders of emails? Hmm the sunday times fired all its copytakers in the early nineties, they've filed via email since then.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 10/02/2012 21:53

agree, pag. i'm sure i saw a dylan story to that effect.
OMG at the grumptilism thing btw. she is fucking crazed.

BarryShitpeas · 10/02/2012 21:55

Aitch- you've lost me at Caitlin Moran being responsible for Ronson getting hold of your email.

CeliaFate · 10/02/2012 21:56

Aitch OMG! Why blame Caitlin Moran, do you know her and she passed it onto him?

Chubfuddler · 10/02/2012 21:57

India knight is lovely. She was doing a book signing at a local bookshop some years ago and I planned to go but a few days before had a nasty accident and was in hospital. To cheer me up Dh went along to get me the book instead and when he explained the circs to her she paid for the book for me herself and wrote a lively message in it.

cocobeefsteak · 10/02/2012 21:58

CM and JR were good friends until he stole Robbie Williams off her. She was Robbie Williams' journo pal until he got into the space aliens shit and then Jon Ronson nicked him because he does conspiracies.

CM used to post here and was online friends with a few people including Aitch.

This is absolutely one of those questions where I wish Mumsnet had a holds thumb and forefinger 1mm apart and says that is this interesting emoticon.

I guess am going to have to offer up my first ever

If you are watching a series that Twitter talk about a lot then YABU to go onto Twitter and complain that people talk baout the ending after it has been on TV.

saintlyjimjams · 10/02/2012 22:00

Who the hell is Emma Kennedy?

India knight must spend every waking hour emailing. I emailed her to complain about her column once and she replied (nicely whilst defending her position)

ShagOBite · 10/02/2012 22:06

Who is India Knight?

ShagOBite · 10/02/2012 22:07

bibbity First ever? Really? Fibber.

Onesunnymorningin2012 · 10/02/2012 22:08

YABU. It's a rite of passage.

I got a shitty-ish tweet from Johann Hari a few months ago.

squeaver · 10/02/2012 22:11

He probably copied that tweet from someone else, onesunny.

jangly · 10/02/2012 22:15

I honestly think something happens to people when they become journalists. They don't seem to know how to communicate with the rest of us on a one to one basis.

PattiMayor · 10/02/2012 22:15

I stopped following India and Caitlin because all they ever do is tell one another how amusing they are

WrigglyWorm · 10/02/2012 22:15

I also have no clue who Emma Kennedy is. I know who India Knight is and I know she threw together a diet book because she and a mate lost a bit of weight by SHOCK - eating less!
These journos really know their stuff.
YANBU by the way - a shitty tweet or email or whatever is shitty whether a celeb sent it or just a 'civilian'.
Sorry Aich hope i didn't bring up bad Jon Ronson memories!!

PattiMayor · 10/02/2012 22:16

I had an argument with Rhodri Morgan once over when 12th night was :o
