That a child my child has been playing with at nursey has herpes? She was born with it contracted from.the mother apparently. She had no sores that I could see but had something in her mouth and my child picked it up only later did I find out that the child had herpes and had been playing with my dc. Should I b worried?

I'm not sure but apparently the little girl was very ill.

Kayano · 09/02/2012 21:31

I don't believe it and 'the other mother' deserves and eyeroll and a slap

WibblyBibble · 09/02/2012 21:31

Er feminine, no reputable doctor is going to prescribe a pregnant woman antibiotics for A VIRUS.

goes away and has a rant about science education in the UK

Kayano · 09/02/2012 21:33

The colds ire one can be fatal but I think you are getting confused with cold site one and vajay one

With you talking about sti's earlier and all that

ledkr · 09/02/2012 21:33

Can anyone explian why the op is getting such a pounding?? Would it be different if she was talking about say swine flu? It seems that as its herpes it is being blown up to be gossip or malicious or over reacting,in light if what i have just said can any of you really say you wouldnt be concerned?
And anti biotics are not given for herpes because herpes is a virus.
Op ask your drs opinion and stay away from aibu.

Feminine · 09/02/2012 21:33

Er wibbly yes, yes they do...

to me!

How rude you are.

OnlyWantsOne · 09/02/2012 21:35

Ledkr - she's getting a pounding because she sounds like a judgemental bitchy arse.

ledkr · 09/02/2012 21:36

Wibbly they should have really, they are ineffective, are you sure it wasnt anti virals? Still crap but at least for the right thing.

ledkr · 09/02/2012 21:36

sorry i meant shouldnt

Kayano · 09/02/2012 21:36

She is getting Hmm because there are no visible sores on the child

She acquired this 'knowledge' from a 3rd party with seemingly no evidence

And she talked about sti earlier but didn't know about cold sores erc so it all seems rather Hmm and mean

Feminine · 09/02/2012 21:39

I should have typed ant-viral.

Its what I had via an IV.

ditsydoll · 09/02/2012 21:40

Cold sores and herpes aren't the same thing, just done some research. Cold sores aren't the same form of the virus, the genital herpes is a different form of the virus

OP posts:
nizlopi · 09/02/2012 21:40

Op, grow up.

Kayano · 09/02/2012 21:42

So what are you talking about? Genital herpes or oral herpes?

TheHumancatapult · 09/02/2012 21:42

She has flare ups when is unwell and yeah we advoud school for few days because she can be covered and is unwell in herself but actually she could be in school without any problems even with the sores

Your not gou g to get it just from touching something she has. Touched and funny enough my 3 other dc and me have never caught it either si quit with the judgey pants Angry

ditsydoll · 09/02/2012 21:42

Cold sores, which are small and somewhat painful blisters that usually show up on or around a person's lips, are caused by herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1). But they don't just show up on the lips. They can sometimes be inside the mouth, on the face, or even inside or on the nose. These places are the most common, but sores can appear anywhere on the body, including the genital area.
Genital herpes isn't typically caused by HSV-1; it's caused by another type of the herpes simplex virus called herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2) and is spread by sexual contact. But even though HSV-1 typically causes sores around the mouth and HSV-2 causes genital sores, these viruses can cause sores in either place.

Cold sores are a form of herpes

squeakytoy · 09/02/2012 21:44

Well I just associate herpes with kind of being an STI which if contracted at birth it sort of is isn't it?

You sound like such a lovely person....

NOT.

Well, unless your daughter has had access to her genitals I suggest you chill out.

If you're worried about the saliva contact, unless she's got a cut, she'll be fine. It's not an airborn virus you know. Or the cooties...
