To be in A State? My dog has been savaged.

Was walking my poor doggy minding our own business and two dogs jumped on her and pinned her to the ground and bit her. She screamed. I took her to the vets and she has sutures and anti-biotics and I am eyeing the wine and frankly in a State.

Pore ol her and me Sad

oh no, what did their owner do? is she ok now.

Jins · 09/02/2012 15:12

Poor thing. Is she a little handbag dog or something more substantial?

Hullygully · 09/02/2012 15:14

She is a big dog, poodle/retriever cross. She is lying down trying to lick her wounds.

The owner was v apologetic which didn't help at all.

OP posts:
Jins · 09/02/2012 15:16

I can imagine that it wouldn't help. Did the owner offer to pay the vet's bill though?

GirlWithPointyShoes · 09/02/2012 15:18

Shock YANBU.

Did you kick the other dogs into a messy, fury pulp?

Poor wee Hully-dog. Give her lots of hugs (where it doesn't hurt :()).

kreecherlivesupstairs · 09/02/2012 15:19

And once you've finished giving her lots of hugs, open the wine.
Did the owner pay for her treatment?

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/02/2012 15:19

That's horrible, and am not surprised both you and dog are shaken up.

I don't know what the usual rules (is that the right word?) are. If owner was apologetic, did that extend to her/him offering to take your dog to vet's/paying for vet's bills, etc?

And open the wine. You need it.

aldiwhore · 09/02/2012 15:21

Poor you and poor Hullymutt!!

birdofthenorth · 09/02/2012 15:22

Fellow doodle owner her sending sympathy. Definiely time for Wine for you and a treat for her

MitchieInge · 09/02/2012 15:23

how horrible

wine, definitely

what sort of dogs were they?

:( for you

CatchyCatchySlowlyMonkey · 09/02/2012 15:24

My thoughts are with you and your poor dog Hullygully.

This happened to me and my boy a few months ago and we were both in a state afterwards. He recovered ok in the end but I almost feel a bit PTSD when I see any dogs loose on our walks!

I fell asleep on the sofa for a couple of hours later that day as it really took it out of me, so I can imagine you're feeling quite shakey? Maybe wine o'clock could be earlier today if need be!

Report to Dog Warden - I know there's nothing they can really do about dog on dog attacks but at least it will be logged. It could be a toddler next time.

Wine

I took my bosses dog out and he got set upon by two horrible snappy little fuckers. I felt really shaky afterwards and that was just my BOSS' dog. Sad

WINE

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/02/2012 15:26

Poor Hullyhound - my two ddogs send licks of sympathy. I hope the owner is going to pay the vet's bills!

oldmum42 · 09/02/2012 15:33

Hope HullyMutt is better soon.

Serious questions, where did this happen? In the street/park? These two dogs where they on a lead? Sounds like they where out of control in a public place, the owner is legally responsible for them and their behaviour - certainly should be paying your vet bills. I think you should consider contacting the police also - better the owner getting a right bollocking from the police, and advice about behaviour now, than worse happening the next time they are out of control.

LauraShigihara · 09/02/2012 15:34

Poor old HullyHound. Get well soon.

Bloody irresponsible owners. It must have been very scary. My little whippet-cross is a rescue dog and gives out Silly Signals which make other dogs want to attack her - I've beaten off three Jack Russells this week alone, the wee buggers.

PrincessFiorimonde · 09/02/2012 15:36

To clarify - I queried my use of the word 'rule' because I am not sure if there is in fact a law that says dogs attacking another dog should be reported.

In any case, a horrible thing. I hope your dog is ok, Hully. And you of course. xx

Blackout · 09/02/2012 15:43

So sorry for your poor dog Sad

I agree with oldmum - I'm pretty sure that the other dogs were 'out of control in a public place' if they were not on leads and their owner had no control over them.

Do you know who the owner is/where he lives?

If so consider reporting this matter to the police. Even if they can't take the owner to court, at least they can give him a telling off and advice on how to control his dogs so that this doesn't happen again to anyone else's dog.

thestringcheesemassacre · 09/02/2012 15:44

Yes to the wine for you.
Give doggy lots of lovely treats from fridge (cheese, sausages etc).

Did owner offer up the vet bills? Have you seen them before?
I would report them as dangerous dogs. Seriously. Report them.

OrmIrian · 09/02/2012 15:44

Sad Sorry to hear that hully. Fingers crossed she recovers soon.

mrstiredandconfused · 09/02/2012 15:49

Poor HullyPup Sad - definitely Wine for you and doggy Biscuit for the patient. Sounds awful, not surprised you're shaken x

SilentBoob · 09/02/2012 15:51

Oh how horrid. Poor Hullypup.

ChickensGoMeh · 09/02/2012 15:55

Oh Hully I know how you feel. Our pup was attacked when he was teeny tiny and it was very upsetting. It all happens so fast, doesn't it? Were you hurt?

Hullygully · 09/02/2012 15:57

Thanks all. Dog is lying on the sofa (bleeding over it). I am having tea.

I have the owner's name and number (unless he lied), he said he would pay the bill, fat lot that helps, but still.

The dogs were on leads, but one had slipped the lead and the other joined in as the man tried to get the first one off. They were an Akita and a Rotty Sad

I screamed about muzzles.

Hullygully · 09/02/2012 15:58

Yes, I will report them.

Police or dog warden?
