to think that very few men really want a heart shaped cake for Valentines Day?

Keep seeing recipies for red velvet valentines cakes & wondering who exactly these are for? The recipes are on sites mostly visited by women. Do we really think that our men want a cake on V Day? Really?

I only bake so I can eat them myself. I use any occasion to make more cake
And tell myself it's for DH

it's not

AspirantPirate · 07/02/2012 15:34

Do any women want them, for that matter?

MrGin · 07/02/2012 15:38

mmmmm. cake

worldgonecrazy · 07/02/2012 15:39

I think there's quite a lot of men would appreciate a heart-shaped cake but not many of them would admit it to their mates

bunch of softies.

OddBoots · 07/02/2012 15:39

My dh would be very happy to get a cake regardless of the shape or the date.

edwinbear · 07/02/2012 15:40

DS (2.5) would like a heart shaped cake I suspect.

squeakytoy · 07/02/2012 15:40

My husband would eat a cake no matter what shape or colour it was, and no matter what day it was Grin

FlightRisk · 07/02/2012 15:40

Oh god valentines. The tackiest day of the year!!! Even gypsey weddings are better than that day.

some men like cake but I honestly don't think they care what it looks like. In fact that goes for some women too.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 07/02/2012 15:41

Most of the men I know would prefer steak, red wine and a BJ.

OrmIrian · 07/02/2012 15:42

IME they aren't that bothered by cake, heart-shaped or otherwise. heart-shaped jar of cockles. or heart-shaped steak and kidney pudding maybe but not cake.

PostBellumBugsy · 07/02/2012 15:44

You see Cogito, that's what I thought. Bottle of something & wife / gf / partner in minimal underwear, whilst he brings voucher for facial / cake / chocolates / flowers. But then I wondered if I was being very old fashioned & that cake is the new BJ?

My dh appreciates all good cake.

If it was heart-shaped or nicely decorated he might would pause for a moment to say/think 'oh that looks nice, how sweet, Filly put in some extra effort because she loves fannying around in the kitchen me' before tucking in.

I'd make it, because I love fannying around in the kitchen.

TiggyD · 07/02/2012 15:45

If anyone were ever to love me, I'd like all the cake I could get.

ShatnersBassoon · 07/02/2012 15:48

DH will happily scoff any type of cake, and if the excuse to make one for him is Valentine's Day and it is therefore heart-shaped, so be it.

TopazMortmain · 07/02/2012 15:49

I heard someone mention cake?

YankNCock · 07/02/2012 15:50

MrCock would love cake, any day of the year, in any shape. Except he's on the Cambridge plan now so there will be no cake in the house for the foreseeable!

Itsallgonetitsup · 07/02/2012 15:54

No most men would probably prefer a blow job.

SunRaysthruClouds · 07/02/2012 16:03

Does it have to be either / or?

Can't they have both blowjob and cake (heartshaped or other)seeing as it's Valentines day?

Nixea · 07/02/2012 16:10

Could you not just kill two birds with one stone? www.soberinanightclub.com/2009/05/gingerbread-blow-job.html

TiggyD · 07/02/2012 16:16

The best thing about getting a blow job is that you've then got a head in front of you that you can rest your cake on. Result!

MothershipG · 07/02/2012 16:20

YABU...to generalise.

There are some things my DH would never say no to, including cake & BJ's, although admittedly he's not overly concerned about the shape of the cake, he certainly would be quite happy with a heart shaped one. Wink

scroogemcduck · 07/02/2012 16:20

the shape doesn't matter. It all goes down the same way Grin

MrsHoarder · 07/02/2012 16:26

DH would never say no to cake... and as for heart-shaped I made a pie for our last wedding anniversary and instead of leaves decorated it with hearts. Minimal effort (as I was already making his favourite pie and needed some shapes to go on top) and he liked it (in an affectionate/amused manner).

Its just a sweet gesture, making something heart-shaped isn't exactly hard work!

EttiKetti · 07/02/2012 16:27

14 March....steak and bj day. It's official.....

my dh loves it!

I made a heart shaped Lenin meringue pie last year as its the only dessert dh likes....he appreciated it!

EttiKetti · 07/02/2012 16:27

*lemon sheesh
