Oh those benefit frothers! I thought you meant the righteous kind for a moment Shock

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 20:31

Oh no, the ones described in the article Grin

There was a counter piece in the Fail saying it is the fault of the Charities that there is so much Disablism!!! It was a horrible read...saw it in a link...don't buy it

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 20:34

Oh that is even worse, you'd think they wouldn't stoop so low...well, no they clearly would

OP posts:
SuePurblybilt · 06/02/2012 20:34

Fault of charities? That's a leap, even for the DM. Did they manage to blame single parents and forriners too?

crazynanna · 06/02/2012 20:35

I hate linking the Fail...but I will if you want me to. I can always take a shower afterwards.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 20:37

Yes, do, then if anyone comes on and agrees with it we can update our C* Spreadsheet

OP posts:
crazynanna · 06/02/2012 20:41

ok...but I do it under extreme protest ...the bastards that they are.

some lovely bastatds eh?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 20:48

I think this sentence in the article sums up their feelings;

' There is too much public sympathy with the case for proper treatment of disabled people and for proper welfare provision'

OP posts:
HoneyandHaycorns · 06/02/2012 20:52

Shock does it really say that??!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 20:56

Yes, thats a direct quote

I think the line that made my veins pop out was "And there are the petty everyday irritations....."

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:04

It's all very callous.

Anyway, even if noone replies to this thread, reading these two articles is powerful stuff and will, I hope, make people think

Oh my goodness, I couldn't bring myself to read the article from the mail, the first article was depressing enough. Oh well, got to save up for the queen's shindig in the summer somehow, hey?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:24

Yes, at what cost eh? :(

I read the Guardian article, have just read the link and I do have to say that the comments are on the whole quite encouraging - not much sympathy with the git who wrote the article there.

I despair of this government, I really do - just today in the Guardian we had this and to counteract it this.

And the worst thing is, they will probably be voted in again in 2015, without the Weasel Dems this time, because turkeys really do vote for Christmas...

pointythings · 06/02/2012 21:27

And quite frankly I'd rather my taxes went to one person who really is fiddling the system if it meant that 10 others in real need also got the support they deserve.

1111211331 · 06/02/2012 21:29

Absol-flipping-lutely!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:29

Was a real eye opener when the Mail.published an article full of blatant untruths about the Motability scheme which caused lots of ill feeling then days later published a tiny retraction of about a paragraph, buried deep in the poet, which noone would even read..scary stuff

OP posts:
bumbleymummy · 06/02/2012 21:30

I'm not really sure how that article is supposed to convince people that they are 'wrong and misled'. I don't think I've seen anyone 'froth' about people getting disability benefits...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:30

Deep in the paper, don't know why my phone autocorrected it

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:32

Bumbleymummy, nearly every day brings posts on here about people slagging off people they m ow who are 'on the sick' and shouldn't be, erroneous posts about DLA being an out of work benefit and people playing the system, motability cars..so its not that hard to get my point really.

OP posts:
1111211331 · 06/02/2012 21:33

People do just tend to make things up when they're talking about benefits in general. Not even necessarily in a bad way, they just get their facts all muddled up because they don't know much about it (quite possibly because they system is so difficult to navigate which will explain all the money which goes unclaimed). If people are ever going to be able to make up their minds based on actual information then they need to know what they're agreeing or disagreeing with. But that seems to be fairly typical of most political discussions. Ho hum!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/02/2012 21:34

And the whole article was about how the media misleads people about disability, so agao., am wondering why you are not getting my point
