to wonder why, after all she's been through Amanda Holden is planning to 'return to Britain's Got Talent' this weekend?

surely you'd just snuggle up with your newborn for a while longer?

She looks extermely well in the photo that has been released, even with good lighting and photoshop I'd still look like a zombie.

Agree with Katie.

2 weeks after my crash CS, I was at home dealing with a stroppy 2yo and normal household.

Many women are doing the school run and running a house two weeks after a birth, even a traumatic one.

Life does not stop, and it may be better for Amanda's health to get back to normality.

She still has the option of pulling out of the show if she realises she has bitten off more than she can chew.

SaraBellumHertz · 06/02/2012 16:21

Her life her choice and certainly not a "difficult" job in terms of physical effort and strain.

PPH's are also, IME, strange in that in the immediate aftermath you feel beyond awful and are obviously quite dangerously ill but once you have been given that blood your recovery is extremely quick and you can be bouncing around (well as much as anyone can with a new born!) in no time.

I don't know how Amanda Holden returned to the public eye so quickly.

I've never had a c-section (I've 3 children) but even after 3 SFVB's I wouldn't have gone back to work.

I thought you were meant to rest, etc. for 4 weeks after a c-section?

I've recently had an emergency umbilicial hernia repair (just above my belly button) and the scar was sore and tender for over 2 weeks with me finding it difficult to even get out of bed in case I tore the operation site!

I was advised to take at least 4 weeks off my job (I'm a childminder) and not lift a thing or talk above my natural level. It's surprising when you talk louder how many stomach muscles you use!

Even if she feels ok now, she could be making problems for herself in the future.

As said before I just wanted to snuggle up with my baby.

WhereMyMilk · 12/02/2012 22:29

Actually, in an interview i read, she's said that she's left the baby at home in London with her mum, (and DH obvs) whilst she's up in Scotland, so she can have some quality "granny time with her"Hmm

Wouldn't be my thing to do, but she clearly thinks it's right for her and her family, and she did actually look great (I certainly didn't look that fab after a crash section 3months later!)

girliefriend · 12/02/2012 22:36

Think its a bit [hmm[ after my emcs I was ill and needed at least 5 weeks to start functioning like a normal human being again!!! She can't be that skint surely?!!

QuietOhSoQuiet · 12/02/2012 22:46

I said it above but women do not seem to understand it,after having an emergency section that lands you in ICU fighting for your life you might actually want to distance yourself from it....
I did,did not see ds for a week and when released from hospital did everything possible to not be in charge of him.....HV/CPN/physc....all said PTSD

Not every birth is lovey dovey, lets take care of the wee one, some of us want the opposite,I told them to put mine up for adoption

Don't judge her,she is human and as such will make "mistakes" as some of you will see,me it's just survivng and coming to terms with a whole new perspective on life

runningwilde · 12/02/2012 22:51

She is not breastfeeding then!

QuietOhSoQuiet · 12/02/2012 22:56

running generally speaking after a massive blood loss and a stint in ICU it's not recommended to breast feed as your body is just not up to it,I was told to not even consider it but to give bottles as my body even though I was up aand about, could not cope with the demands of feeding a baby.

trinitybleu · 12/02/2012 23:06

Whilst I do think she's returning to work v quick, I'd have jumped at the chance of some baby free time. Private jet from Mr Cowell no doubt, being made a fuss of, hair and make up done ... Lovely.

McHappyPants2012 · 12/02/2012 23:10

Is she legally allowed to go back to work, I thought there was a minimum time you had to take off

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 12/02/2012 23:35

I think the minimum time is two weeks, unless you work in a factory, in which case it is four weeks.

callmemrs · 13/02/2012 09:01

Runningwilde- she may well be expressing milk while she's away, and breastfeeding when she's around- like , erm , many working women. Baby gets all the nutrition of bm and is clever enough to drink from breast and bottle!
