to wonder why, after all she's been through Amanda Holden is planning to 'return to Britain's Got Talent' this weekend?

surely you'd just snuggle up with your newborn for a while longer?

OP posts:
mycatsaysach · 06/02/2012 14:15

its all a load of rubbish imo

TessTosterone · 06/02/2012 14:15

Actually I am quite impressed that she feels up to it. 2 weeks post my elective cs I still couldn't stand up let alone go back to work!

fatlazymummy · 06/02/2012 14:15

margoandjerry not everyone wants to go awol to focus on the new baby. It's got nothing to do with morals. Many celebrities do take time off after giving birth. It is their choice.

manicinsomniac · 06/02/2012 14:15

why shouldn't she is she's healthy and ready? She's lucky enough to have a job she loves and it's not strenuos so I see no reason why she can't be there.

Francagoestohollywood · 06/02/2012 14:16

Because that's what she wants to do.
Not sure how long it takes to film an episode of whatever it is she is doing, but she'll have plenty of time to snuggle up with her newborn.

FreudianSlipper · 06/02/2012 14:18

i am not surprised we know that her boss will fire and hire jsut as he sees fit so she probably want to try and hold on to her job what other work has she got i feel sorry for her

i am sure if she were a man, had been seriously ill and become a parent (again) recently we would not be turing on him and would probably get a pat on the back for being so brave and strong in wanting to support his family blah blah blah

eragon · 06/02/2012 14:18

i do hope she is not going back too soon, surely her doctor will recommed another couple of weeks recovery from nearly dying? and what about her husband, he must still be in shock from all this? it must take time to sink in that his wife was in a life threatening situation ?

margoandjerry · 06/02/2012 14:19

that's why I said we can "choose" to go awol if we want to. It's not compulsory. I wasn't much of a babymooner myself.

I'm just guessing she's been in this world so long that she starts to need the attention and the approbation - even if it's in my view a totally hyped up rubbish version of attention and approval. About as real and meaningful as the contestants crying.

BobblyGussets · 06/02/2012 14:19

Greed, plus being a big show off like all those types on programmes like that.

mojitomania · 06/02/2012 14:20

It's totally her decision, so what if she wants to go back. How do you know she was "nearly" dying anyway. Don't believe all you read in the papers ay.

When I had my DS I haemoraged really badly etc. and apparently nearly died due to bloodloss. A week later I was in fine fettle.

margoandjerry · 06/02/2012 14:20

But yes I agree she must do whatever she wants to do for herself and her family. I'm not judging her so much as judging the fakery of BGT. I might be proved wrong if they make nothing of it when she goes back....

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:27

I do see what you mean actually, Marg. BGT is a whole other level of fakery, quite separate from the arts/entertainment world in general. It's not qutie the same as the singer in a lovely Newcastle folk troupe continuing to take to the stage and trill the songs of her girlhood Grin

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:27

Sorry, I meant to say Margo and now just sound over-familiar Grin Grin

fatlazymummy · 06/02/2012 14:27

margo it may be fake [I don't watch it or take any notice of celeb 'culture '], but I am sure there are still many worse and harder ways of earning a living, and many women around the world who aren't given the choices that this woman has.
I am sure it will be a story though, that is what the x-factor was all about. The judges were more important than the contestants.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 06/02/2012 14:32

I was in ICU after my last delivery on lefe support, family told I would die, well obviously I did'nt but the last thing I wanted was to be near my child,I did the basics and wanted him to be nowhere near me.It created some real mental problems for me.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 06/02/2012 14:39

Not Amanda's biggest fan but I can see why she's gone/is going back already. There must be huge pressure to go back to normal asap in the tv/film world. She isn't the first I'm sure.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/02/2012 14:39

interesting that we are so keen to swallow the fact that she was nearly dying from the press, but won't tolerate the plucky mandy goes back to work one.

i was nearly dying after my dd2 was born, but i didn't and tbh it was only afterwards i knew that things had been at all serious for me. i also recovered very quickly from my c-section, much faster than from my vb.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/02/2012 14:40

sounds awful, quiet. Sad

AdditionMultiplication · 06/02/2012 14:51

As an aside, it starts this week? Excellent!

BoFo · 06/02/2012 15:00

Fantastic. Yet another celeb held as an example to us all. 'Amanda Holden was back at work after two weeks and she nearly died'. Another stick to beat ourselves with if we don't resume normality the second we leave the delivery room

fatlazymummy · 06/02/2012 15:06

bofo we don't have to beat ourselves with any sticks. Just ignore what other people do, for heavens sake.
The 'celeb' culture is an industry and you can easily withdraw from the whole thing.

TheParanoidAndroid · 06/02/2012 15:10

don't be a martyr, I doubt anyone is comparing you to her anyway.

aldiwhore · 06/02/2012 15:11

I think its her business, no one else's and no one should really judge her whether they understand/agree with her decision or not.

In her industry and her place in it, childcare and being able to be close to baby is probably a lot easier than in any other industry.

She was in a bad way, if she feels ready to return to work then that tells me she's not in a bad way now.

I just hope its HER decision alone and that she's not been put under pressure to do something she doesn't want to.

For the record, I can't imagine anything worse... for me. I spent 2 weeks snuggled in bed after both my children. Her decision doesn't make me right and her wrong, we're different people.

ivykaty44 · 06/02/2012 15:17

I would normally say each to their own, in this particular case though I think she would be unwise to work whilst she is still recovering from a nasty stay in ITU. The stress on the body is not sensible and it would be far more safe and practicle to stay away from work and recovery fully now - rather than have a relapse later.

sozzledchops · 06/02/2012 15:19

Some of this thread is downright mean and nasty. Claws are out in force.
