to wonder why, after all she's been through Amanda Holden is planning to 'return to Britain's Got Talent' this weekend?

surely you'd just snuggle up with your newborn for a while longer?

PrimaBallerina · 06/02/2012 13:55

Desperate to stay famous? She can't be that skint.

blackoutthesun · 06/02/2012 13:55

well if i were her, after what she has been through maybe she was to feel 'normal' again

Agincourt · 06/02/2012 13:57

I would imagine it is her choice

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 06/02/2012 13:57

she's freelance. freelancers can't take time off, or if they do, they can't expect their job to be there when they decide to come back.

noddyholder · 06/02/2012 13:57

Fame whore what else?

GypsyMoth · 06/02/2012 13:57

Those who think it's a case of a couple of hours sat down looking glamorous have very little idea of what working in tv actually involves!

Sandalwood · 06/02/2012 13:58

Oh shit. Makes the rest of us look a bit wishy washy.
I'm soon to go on maternity leave - hopefully for a year.

She is very desperate re her career though.
I always remember what someone on here said about how she's shagged her way to the middle.

Haziedoll · 06/02/2012 13:59

I'm sure she will look completely amazing and not like she has just had a baby and been through the mill.

I'm sure if we all had our own nannies, nightnurse, personal trainer, hairdresser and beautician etc we could look like that too.

messymammy · 06/02/2012 14:01

Dorrit, I'm not at all judging her, I just think it's sad if it is a case of having to go back to work so soon after having a baby and nearly dying, rather than wanting to get back to work or normal or whatever. Noone should feel they have to do it.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:01

I saw The Unthanks a while back, at the Barbican. I remember thinking RAchel Unthank looked a little sturdier than normal. Wasn;t until she sang a lullaby to her 5 week old (being looked after backstage by her Mum) that she'd given birth just over a month ago.

Some women are utterly devoted to their work. It gives them identitiy and purpose and joy. I don't think we should judge them for it.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:01

There's an 'I realised' missing from in there ^

PrimaBallerina · 06/02/2012 14:02

Also this is the woman who once married Les Dennis. She's been through a lot to get where she is today Grin.

Do tell us more Tiffany.. :)

Are you famous then? Grin

fatlazymummy · 06/02/2012 14:07

Why does it matter anyway? Some women like to sit about in their pyjamas for weeks after giving birth, doing 'skin to skin' and 'babymooning'. Some women like to get dressed and get straight back to normal. Thank goodness we have the choice nowadays. As long as she is fit enough then there isn't an issue as far as I am concerned.

ifeelloved · 06/02/2012 14:07

Could be any number of reasons

Maybe because she wants to

Maybe because she feels she'll lose the job is she doesn't

Maybe because she needs the money

Maybe because o al the great publicity (that is not what I really think btw before anyone flames meGrin)

But definitely none of our business

MmeLindor. · 06/02/2012 14:08

"shagged her way to the middle"

"desperate"

"fame whore"

Charming.

She has a baby two weeks ago and is going to be on a TV show that will be filmed next week. It is hardly strenuous work, and she can make that decision herself, with the support of her husband and family.

Berating her for this is pretty appalling.

margoandjerry · 06/02/2012 14:09

I guess she'll get a standing ovation and there'll be tears and all that. Great TV moment - plucky Amanda battles to get back to BGT after her brrush with tragedy type thing.

I'm not judging her. I just think if you live in that world its morals become your morals and you start to exist for the applause and the attention. The rest of us are actually lucky not to have to live in that world - we can choose to go awol while we focus on the new baby because we haven't had our minds bent by that world.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:09

Not like the misogynistic tone of some of these responses Hmm

OnlyANinja · 06/02/2012 14:11

Maybe she enjoys her job and thinks that she would rather be doing a job she loves (with baby cuddles between takes) than sat at home thinking about what just happened.

People deal with stressful times differently.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 14:12

Margo come off it. It's not immoral to happen to be fairly ambitious and motivated by a career. Would it be 'immoral' to go back to work if you managed a care home/were a neurosurgeon/hand-reared orphaned kittens for a living? Or is it only immoral if it's the entertainment industry?

TheParanoidAndroid · 06/02/2012 14:12

Because she wants to. Who gives a flying fuck, nosy gits.

GypsyMoth · 06/02/2012 14:13

Squeaky, I have worked in the industry, but no, I am not famous

Everyone makes it sound like she is chauffeured in, straight to hair and makeup, then just sits down straightafter to 'judge' then is whisked back home. It's just not like that.

noddyholder · 06/02/2012 14:13

I am basing my comment on having met her

margoandjerry · 06/02/2012 14:14

I don't think it's immoral. I didn't say that. I think there's a tabloid morality to those shows that's not my morality. I bet my bottom dollar they make something of it and everyone has a feel good moment.

I don't mean this to sound cyncial and mean. I feel sorry for her, to be honest. I would never judge anyone for going back to work but that does sound like a strange decision.
