to think that having to have periods is bad enough but this is truly taking the piss?

The book says periods happen ever 28 days. that is 4 weeks.

I have had 23 days. That is only just over 3 weeks.

It Is SO Unfair

AND it hurts.

The book says childbirth cures period pain.

Does it Fuck.

I think I need a new book.

3 fucking weeks though. that is taking the piss isn't it? AIU to expect a bit of a sodding break?

I would recommend you avoid the Peri-Menopausal threads, they will distress you greatly.

I am on Day 28 of mega period Sad. Although I didn't have a period for nearly three months last year. That was nice.

CoffeeDog · 27/01/2012 10:51

use to be 28 days pre kids... then 26 after first one...... and now 24days after twins :( NOT happy

Give up with the book and try choclate and wine instead :)

Helltotheno · 27/01/2012 10:52

Honey you think that's bad.. I've pretty much had them an average of every 21 days since I was THIRTEEN!! Yes when I say average, sometimes it was every 18 or 19! Ok on the plus side, rarely any pain but still....
23 is luxury Grin

crazynanna · 27/01/2012 10:54

In the last 6 months,I have had two 17 day cycles Angry

TheRhubarb · 27/01/2012 10:56

What book?

The only times I've had a period for that long is after childbirth and whilst on the mini-pill, which I had to give up eventually as I was becoming anaemic.

I did however start to get very painful and very clotty periods that were so bad I was confined indoors for two days. Whenever I stood up, it would just pour out of me and leak everywhere. Once in the middle of church - imagine how embarrassing that was!!!

My sister is 46 and going through the peri-menopause and I reckon my irregular, heavy and painful periods might have been a sign that I will go the same way. I'm on the pill now which is great as I can completely control when I have a period and they aren't too heavy either.

AtYourCervix · 27/01/2012 10:56

AND IT HURTS!

out of my 23 days I will have 4 days of period pain hurting and 4 days of ovary hurting. SO 15 non hurty days.

2 weeks of non-hurting.

SO UNFAIR

Have you thought about getting a coil fitted? I have the mirena coil and I rarely have periods. If I ever do, they are pain free, never more than spotting and last no more than a day.

TheRhubarb · 27/01/2012 10:57

Oh sorry, thought you said you had a period for 23 days. Having a period every three weeks sucks. Do you not have occasions where you go for much longer with nothing? Or is that just your cycle?

I would recommend the pill.

posey · 27/01/2012 10:59

Yep, 23 days is great isn't it? Oh and then the hormonal migraines kick in and put you in bed for 3 days by which time if someone leaves an axe in a handy position you would happily chop off your own head...

AtYourCervix · 27/01/2012 11:00

i hate fake hormones. they don't agree with me. can't do combined pill (migraines, fatness). can't do minipill (previous ectopic) and they both play havok with my already problematic mood. and i also very rarely have the sex so don't need it for the contraceptive properties.

Give me more info on the 'ovary hurting'. What does that feel like?

AtYourCervix · 27/01/2012 11:02

actually have avoided the headache this time (so far) the last 2 'months' i had a hideous head.

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 27/01/2012 11:03

ovary hurting feels like something is swelling up inside putting pressure on all my inside bits and feels like it is about to explode. and it makes me puke.

ilovejackreacher · 27/01/2012 11:04

I feel your pain, I seem to get a period about every 3 weeks after having DS2.
Also, had to take antibiotics recently so was treated to a raging yeast infection - sometimes I'm just so over having a vagina.

AtYourCervix · 27/01/2012 11:05

AND i got a letter through yesterday calling me for a fucking bastard smear.

RuleBritannia · 27/01/2012 11:08

marmiteandjam

If your coil prevents you from having periods, where does the blood go? Sorry for being ignorant about this but I won't have a coil. I though it was just a contraceptive device to prevent sperm arriving at its destination!

cloudpuff · 27/01/2012 11:13

I thought it took on on average 28 days to complete a cycle so therefore having a period every three weeks is usual.
My contraceptive pill comes in packs of 21, so three weeks taking the pill and a week for the period.
I could be totally wrong though, periods are awful/painful/yukk and tampons and pads can cost a lot.

HappyHoppyHippy · 27/01/2012 11:14

I think a coil stops eggs releasing? Thus no lining of womb needing to be shed? I could be way wrong as that's a guess Blush

sterrryerryoh · 27/01/2012 11:16

My periods are every 23 days and last for between 6 and 9 days a time. They've been like this for years, and so painful I often have a day off work due to being doubled over and throwing up. But what REALLY gets me is the fact that I am, and always have been, infertile, so there's never been any point in me having them anyway! That fact just makes me rage! Pointless bastard things that they are. OP, i feel your pain.

QueenStromba · 27/01/2012 11:16

I've spent 12 days bleeding this month plus two days of pain before each of my periods which takes me to 16 days of period pain.

QueenStromba · 27/01/2012 11:17

Have you asked your GP about getting an endometrial ablation sterrryerryoh?

IwoulddoPachacuti · 27/01/2012 11:18

I went on the pill because of a 21 day cycle. Fuck that!

My periods are much lighter now too. Men don't know how easy they have it!!

TheRhubarb · 27/01/2012 11:19

You can get low dosage pills now. I'm on Mirena (fake hormones hate me too) and that seems to be ok, a little moodiness before periods but nothing compared to what I used to be like on the pill.

The coil is another option and yes, it stops egg production and encourages lighter, non-painful periods.

sterrryerryoh · 27/01/2012 11:19

Sorry Queenstromba, I am a bit clueless... what is an endometrial ablation?

PopcornMouse · 27/01/2012 11:23

I'll trade with you, cervix ? I've been ttc for 13 months but with longer cycles (33-38 days) I've had less chances! :o
