I love Waitrose's cafe especially as it is unbelievable value. Mind you there sweet and sour chicken with rice - whilst only 5 quid - is very bland!

coraltoes · 25/01/2012 19:13

Ours has a wine bar!!! Very fun getting pissed then buying toilet roll.

ProfessorFiggyMoriarty · 25/01/2012 19:47

IWantMyHatBack · 25/01/2012 20:02

coraltoes · 25/01/2012 20:09

London. Canary wharf branch.

newrose · 25/01/2012 21:14

So not only do some of you have a cafe but there are wine bars out there too? Seriously???

There are no words for how used and abused I'm feeling right now, Johnnie Waitrose - you were even part of my zombie plan! [bsad]

Haziedoll · 25/01/2012 21:24

My local supermarket is Waitrose so I often shop in there even though I don't really have the middle-class credentials.

I was very embarrassed the other day because my basket consisted of Birds Eye Mexican Chicken breasts, custard creams and a multi-pack of diet coke. I covered my wares with a copy of The Times whilst looking over my shoulder. I think I got away with it.

LapsedPacifist · 25/01/2012 21:31

The Barf Branch of Waitrose is spawning expanding. It is taking over the entire Podium shopping complex opposite the post Office, and has closed down and booted out around 10 small retail units and 5 restaurants -

AND CLOSED THE PUBLIC LOOS NEXT TO THE LIBRARY! Angry Angry

JLP are are not "Mr Naice" you know. In spite of their organic brioche. They are working for the Dark Side (unless they generate more local jobs and offer one to me of course ...)

xkittyx · 25/01/2012 22:04

For someone that asked earlier about Waitrose in Scotland, there are two in Glasgow. One in the West End and one in Newton Mearns.
I was desperately excited before the first one opened, before then we'd make special trips to Edinburgh ..... it's just so full of lovely things....

Vicky2011 · 25/01/2012 22:35

@ MoreBeta Any supermarket which demands you put £1 in a slot to use a trolley loses any chance it might possibly have ever had of my custom. Yes ASDA and Mozzers I do mean you. As far as I know, Waits have yet to make this mistake.

newrose · 25/01/2012 22:48

xkittyx, I'm too near one of the Edinburgh branches - do you have a cafe?

MoreBeta · 26/01/2012 08:58

Vicky - our M&S food dept is in a basement. They ask for a £1 in the slot even though the trolley would have to be manhandled up two flights of stairs under your coat to get it out of the shop.

I live in that kind of town. Grin

HelloShitty · 26/01/2012 09:40

Our Waitrose has a cafe , and last week I ate my lunch there FOR FREE because their till was down. As for customer service, the manager came round to every table and apologised for not being able to take our money Confused.

VivaLeBeaver · 26/01/2012 10:54

My local Waitrose has a cafe - they do the nicest cheese and herb scones.

They also have a gadget in the wine section that you can put a bottle of wine into and it instantly cools your wine. So if you're buying white wine in a hurry you can have it chilled by the time you've paid for it!

newrose · 26/01/2012 16:03

Free lunch in Waitrose cafe? Envy

Wine cooling while you shop? Envy

Seeker, you are being VVUnreasonable. I, on the other hand, am a shopper scorned - hand me that machine gun NOW!
