......to run beserk up and down the aisles with a machine gun spraying bullets indiscriminately?

Have been in the Bath one and fully agree, can picture it now!

Two here in Edinburgh... Morningside and Stockbridge, natch.

I love mine.

seeker · 24/01/2012 20:56

Yep. Completely alone!

Actually, I didn't realise there was a theme. I though I was being original.

You didn't actually have to click on the thread, you know!

Well if I were you I'd get some non organic, not quite ripe, rock hard tomatoes from Aldi and pelt them indiscriminately at your fellow shoppers.
Anyway why didn't you get the Waitrose essentials salt? Then you can still get the waitrose experience while being smug that you haven't been had like everyone else there.
Also if you go late enough all the bread and croissants are half price.
(Aldi in Hounslow sounds very interesting...)

MmeLindor. · 24/01/2012 21:09

I was amused, Seeker, although I was slightly disappointed that you missed the pun opportunity of Cereal Killer in the muesli aisle.

I have never ever been in a Waitrose. I am not a real MNetter, I fear.

Have been in a Sainsbury. I spent ages wandering about looking at exotic ingredients and aspirational toiletries.

ReindeerBollocks · 24/01/2012 21:09

I so did the pretentious mum thing in Sainsburys yesterday. DD thinks its highly amusing that Okra is also known as ladies fingers. I saw some yesterday and said 'hey DD what are these?' cue shouts of ladies fingers from a giggly DD.

Didn't help that she then followed it up with 'can we get some brioche now mummy'. DD is two and a half. It's only when I got home and DD was telling DH I realised that we must have looked like massive arseholes.

Next week I'm shopping alone but not in our Waitrose, it's always really busy, and not so serene.

Smallwhitecat
When I see a thread that I don't find funny, interesting, or meriting a bit of killing-time interest I just don't bother posting.

There are large swathes on this site full stop, and in case you hadn't noticed, lots of different threads to go with that, so I'm sure there's something for everyone.

Can't understand what is the point of making that kind of comment???

So eloquently put. But it is important to assert your intellectual superiority.

Anyway, I'm busy watching 15 kids and counting so cheerioh.

It is not shite, it was an amusing thread until you came along to sneer at it.

justonemorethread · 24/01/2012 21:38

Psst..I bet she shops in Iceland...

Ok Ok, I'm going - sorry to de-rail!

(Wow MN brings out childishness even in me)

Earthymama · 24/01/2012 21:46

I always feel so ^lovely* in the Bath Waitrose, as if I am in a different world. then I laugh at myself and go back to my Real Life, clutching my treat of organic spelt bread and free range choccies

My fave chain food shop is the Co-op in Glastonbury, tis fab and sells lots of Real Ale.

MoreBeta · 24/01/2012 21:51

I'd love a Waitrose in our town. Its got space for one if they knocked down the shopping centre where all the shops are closed. They have one in the next door town which is smaller and more deprived but has more old people.

We have more Greggs than they do though.

JoantheFennel · 24/01/2012 21:52

Waitrose customers would shoot you back and be a better shot than you.

Hollister makes me murderous. The pong scent sends me in to a red mist.

justonemorethread · 24/01/2012 21:53

We have a Greggs NEXT to Waitrose.

Sometimes I can be found walking around in circles like a confused guide-dog.

GoingForGoalWeight · 24/01/2012 21:56

Two Waitrose stores near me, about 15 minutes in either direction by car. What's the fuss? I really don't see how it is that much different to Sainsbury's! (aside from the price and a few deli items).

slowburner · 24/01/2012 22:04

I like our waitrose. It is clean, it is well stocked, the shop assistants will offer to show you where the item you are asking about is, OR manage to explain to you where it is so you don't have to follow them through the store like a lost puppy while they walk at a normal pace and you have to push a trolley through small gaps between people in a bid to catch up.

I ignore the smug prep school kids and the la di dah mums with skinny waists, too busy managing my screaming bundle of mayhem!

LapsedPacifist · 24/01/2012 22:08

We have 2 Greggs in Bath

Have been known to make a special long detour trip to the Co-op Scala (" SUCH good value, darling ") just so I can sneak call in to the Moorland Road branch.

MoreBeta · 24/01/2012 22:09

I have a question.

When you go in Waitrose do you have to put £1 in the handle or do they just trust you not to steal the trolley?

Bibbob · 24/01/2012 22:11

It's the only store where a member of staff complained when I replaced a carton of eggs back on the shelf at a slightly crooked angle.
And a packet of ham used 10 words to state it's title. That's what I hate...all the bloody reading...

Bibbob · 24/01/2012 22:12

Rogue apostrophe...my apologies

MmeLindor. · 24/01/2012 22:12

Our Apple store is fab. They do iPhone lessons for pensioners, such a funny sight - 6 confused looking wrinklies sitting on bright coloured pouffes (hell on the back, that must be) while an impossibly chipper yoof shows them how to check their emails and log on to Gransnet.
