to think that nearly 200 people being killed in Nigeria should be more newsworthy

What happened in Kano over the weekend is not even on the front pages of the so called international news websites like the BBC. I've had to search for any reporting on it.

Can you imagine if such a thing had happened to people in a rich country?

I think it's really sad that Africans dying isn't considered newsworthy. Are we really that racist?

Fog I think you are being way out of line.

What is this section of society the MrsD despises?

Please clarify as that was deliberately inflammatory.

foglike · 23/01/2012 23:18

Are you calling me a racist Amberleaf?

Spit it out and show me where I have posted anything racist?

Do you know how stupid you look suggesting that?

mojitomania · 23/01/2012 23:18

Here we go again, that bloody word! it's becoming a joke.

AmberLeaf · 23/01/2012 23:18

Strange how you didn't pull her up for screaming "Racist" and "Twat" Amberleaf??

If the cap fits.

someone mentioning they are working class doesnt offend me, but if someone thinks they speak for all working class people and spout crap I will pull them on it.

foglike · 23/01/2012 23:19

You don't think mrsdevere galling someone a racist twat is out of line roundtable?

You've got a strage way to show offence.

roundtable · 23/01/2012 23:19

Somebody's got the thesaurus out tonight. Some very dramatic verbs. Hmm

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/01/2012 23:20

Oh hang on...
Fog do you think I am black?

foglike · 23/01/2012 23:20

But calling someone a racist is ok is it amberleaf?

Are you the speaker for the working class now then?

foglike · 23/01/2012 23:21

I don't give a toss if your black devere.

You're the only one mentioning colour on this thread.

Have you noticed?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/01/2012 23:22

Calling someone racist if they are racist is fine, yes.

MMMarmite · 23/01/2012 23:22

"I was stating a fact that racists are from every denomination." Okay, but why do you need to point that out? Is it like 'some of them do bad stuff too so it's okay for me to do it'?

Again, what do you think racism is? And why do you think caring more about white strangers' lives than black strangers' lives isn't racism?

TheFallenMadonna · 23/01/2012 23:23

Um, no. LOTS of people are mentioning colour. And the first to mention their own colour was mojito.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/01/2012 23:23

I am the only one mentioning colour on this thread?
Are you drunk?

You DID think I was black didnt you?

Thats what all that 'chip on your shoulder', 'despises our section of society' 'being racist' etc was all about wasnt it?

mojitomania · 23/01/2012 23:24

Cry wolf come to mind, or is it cry wolef Grin

I have stated my facts as i see them. Living on a tiny Island and being bloody banboozled by too many and too much. No housing, no jobs. Its fact that in the last 20 years it's become a very very sad place to be for the working class. The rich will alway prosper. Easy to sit pretty and get everything for half price due to cheap labour though huh.

what's wrong with saying I'm white, why do I need to stay hidden and make people guess?

AmberLeaf · 23/01/2012 23:25

You're the only one mentioning colour on this thread

Wow you obviously totally missed the point of this thread.

ElaineBenes · 23/01/2012 23:26

Have you ever lived in another country mojito?

Do you have any idea what it's like to be working class in the US for example?

Who exactly is bamboozling the UK?

wannaBe · 23/01/2012 23:26

I don't think it's racism. But I do think it's because it's Africa.

The reality is that a violent attack in Africa is essentially just yet another violent attack where people are killed. For decades now we have been hearing about various conflicts in different parts of Africa. Ruanda/DRC/Zimbabwe/Kenya/siera leone and so the list goes on.

Violence is an every day part of a lot of Africans' lives, people are killing their own out there all the time, and reality is that the majority have become desensitised to it now, plus it just isn't possible to report on it all the time.

Hundreds of people are killed in DRC every day, yet we occasionally get a report on the news - every two/three months or so.

Millions of people were killed in Ruanda, yet we had the occasional news report on the aid drops and the conditions of the women/children escaping the violence.

You could almost say that in Africa this is a way of life. And as westerners it's no longer unexpected to hear that x hundred people have been killed in an African town - and to the locals it's even less unexpected...

foglike · 23/01/2012 23:26

Have you seen me mention colour?

Have you seen mrsdevere mention colour??

I have stated that personally I find her repulsive and I don't want to know her private life...that's not racism it's just that she disgusts me with her screaming racist all the time.

roundtable · 23/01/2012 23:27

I don't think the words racist twat was acutally used together. Feel free to point to the post though if I am wrong.

In MrsD's opinion and a few other peoples on here I suspect-- the opinions given were racist.

If you feel that the word twat was an offensive personal attack than report it.

A couple of posters on this thread seem to be trying to push peoples buttons on immigration, which actually has nothing to do with the OP, and then claiming righteous indignation when they are challenged.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/01/2012 23:27

As I said before Fog

Get a grip.

You are not making sense.
Your posts are a bit unhinged
You are making weird accusations about shoutiness
You are telling me how angry and about to explode I am when I am clearly not the one about to combust.

AND you have just made a personal attack on me.

Norty norty norty.

ElaineBenes · 23/01/2012 23:28

I really don't think it's acceptable to say that violence in Africa is a way of life Shock

Africa is a huge continent and it's very patronising to just dismiss it with 'people are killing their own out there all the time'.

OP posts:
foglike · 23/01/2012 23:28

Wow you obviously totally missed the point of this thread.

Wow..you really think that?

Double wow....and another double wow wow.

mojitomania · 23/01/2012 23:28

So amber what was the point of this thread? Other than to say it was "racist" to not give Nigeria coverage?
