What happened in Kano over the weekend is not even on the front pages of the so called international news websites like the BBC. I've had to search for any reporting on it.

Can you imagine if such a thing had happened to people in a rich country?

I think it's really sad that Africans dying isn't considered newsworthy. Are we really that racist?

I went away with one of the "privilaged" over xmas to malta, I answered the door to the maids on xmas day and said, no, we don't need anything today, hoping they would all be able to go home and have an easy day. Do you know what she said, they are here to do a job, they should come in replace all the things we don't need etc. etc. Oh and she's a Malay Indian. When I challenged her she said I was beholden to her, without her i wouldn't be there and i should be grateful.. I was so grateful I got on a plane home. Probably, on reflection, it's not so much racism as, oh I don't know, some horrible kind of ism, I just don't know which one. Anti poor people living somewhere else -ism.

And I don't expect the Daily Mail to be crying over poor Nigerians but would expect international news channels (including but not limited to British based ones) to give it a bit more coverage, especially as it has huge implications for Nigeria as a whole.

I don't hate blacks, Indians, Polish or any other creed. I was stating a fact that racists are from every denomination. I was also stating a fact that there is far too many people coming into this country for it to deal with.
