Story here Undercover police had children with activists

"Two undercover police officers secretly fathered children with political campaigners they had been sent to spy on and later disappeared completely from the lives of their offspring ...

"In both cases, the children have grown up not knowing that their biological fathers ? whom they have not seen in decades ? were police officers who had adopted fake identities to infiltrate activist groups. Both men have concealed their true identities from the children's mothers for many years"

What a monumental abuse of trust Angry

Trois garcons - as I understand it, these were not 'terrorists', but environmental campaigners engaged in peaceful and legitimate protest. The mothers were not having one night stands where 'they didn't bother to get the name of the bloke', but were in relationships with people they believed to share their values. It is clear that the undercover officers obtained the consent of [these women] to sexual intercourse by deceit - isn't that assault?

PreviouslyonLost · 20/01/2012 22:35

Read again, as will I, Worra...'18 months', 'short-lived', and 'just a year into his deployment'...Can't see in report where after 9 YEARS a child was concieved?

alicethehorse · 20/01/2012 22:36

Hold on a minute, we're talking about hippy activists here, not armed terrorists or enemies spied on in a war situation.

9 years? prohibited from having sex?

oh my sides split

RitaMorgan · 20/01/2012 22:36

We're hardly talking the "security of the country" - they were infiltrating environmental and anti-capitalist groups. At most we're talking about protecting profits/property.

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:36

There's nothing like reading a headline and jumping in with both feet is there motherofallhangovers.

Your view is opposed to mine and mine is opposed to yours.

RitaMorgan · 20/01/2012 22:38

troisgarcons - yes, prohibited (supposedly) from having sex with women they were spying on. I doubt they were banned from sleeping with their wives at home.

alicethehorse · 20/01/2012 22:38

I have not idea what you mean by that. I've read the article.

Oh right lost I'm lost now Grin Blush

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:39

Did you read the bottom part?

And I would suspect the PC's were single.

These coppers are obviously needed to pay child support but sex isn't a crime.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/01/2012 22:40

Lambert was married during his secret mission, which continued until 1988.

Not single. Who's not reading the article now?

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:41

So one was...what about the other 7?

Having sex isn't a crime.

Trois...get me that visa I might just need it.

Hulababy · 20/01/2012 22:42

Bear in mind that the article talks about two policeman, 2 out of how many? There are not so good people in all occupations.

Mark Kennedy was also married.

They have infiltrated Greenpeace, Globalise Resistance and Reclaim the Streets - not quite terrorists.

GypsyMoth · 20/01/2012 22:43

If these 'activists' were being investigated, what were they doing to warrant an operation of this proportion??

foglike · 20/01/2012 22:44

It's always best to leave a thread when it gets personal.....

Collects visa and heads for exit before ALF kick off.

GypsyMoth · 20/01/2012 22:45

Anyway, who said they had sex?? Maybe they used turkey basters! Who knows?

FantasticDay · 20/01/2012 22:45

Foglike - obtaining consent to sexual intercourse by deceit is a crime though, isn't it?

RitaMorgan · 20/01/2012 22:45

Hulababy - 2 out of 8 police spies we know about. That's a pretty high percentage and suggests there is something fundamentally wrong with this operation.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/01/2012 22:45

F*cking hell I was in Greenpeace and CND, maybe they should have had sex with me under false pretences and knocked me up.

QueenOfFeckingEverything · 20/01/2012 22:46

'skanks' - charming Hmm Ever crossed your mind that some MNers might be involved with some of the groups that were infiltrated?

Mark Kennedy the slimy fucker was married with children.

alicethehorse · 20/01/2012 22:46

What do they do?

Greenpeace: "We defend the natural world and promote peace by investigating, exposing and confronting environmental abuse, and championing environmentally responsible solutions"

Globalise Resistance: "Anti globalisation organisation criticises corporate power. Provides newsletter, background briefings and details of protests and action."

Reclaim the streets: not sure if they exist anymore, their old website says "A direct action network for global and local social-ecological revolution(s) to transcend hierarchical and authoritarian society, (capitalism included), and still be home in time for tea..."
