To think that Tesco's should be able to get hold of 2 lt bottles of Diet Coke?

Went to tescos on Sunday and no 2nd bottles of diet coke in stock, it's quite a big one so was very surprised even with an offer on. Fast forward to tonight and I have just got back and they still do not have any.

So as there was no-one queuing at customer services thought I would ask why (yes I'm that sad), she double checked her computer, and it said no unavailable. She went and phoned a friend asked someone else and mystery solved....they've not been sent any. Although she did suggest I went to another supermarket and that would tell me if it were just them or everyone.

AIBU to think they can stock it within a week and not tell me to go to another supermarket?

Diet Coke is foul so yes, YABU!

blackoutthesun · 20/01/2012 21:53

they might have fallen out again

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 20/01/2012 21:58

Think of your bone density LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans and step away from the fizzy shit...unless it's going into a well deserved, vodka with ice and a slice, of course Smile

MissVerinder · 20/01/2012 22:01

loves it is poison, sadly. Look on Mysupermarket and see if any others have it on offer; that's what I usually do.

Or drink squash instead Grin

Winkly · 20/01/2012 22:10

Tis not worth them stocking it since I stopped drinking it :)

It's bad stuff really but delicious :(

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 20/01/2012 22:13

I don't drink anywhere as much as I used too but do like one glass in the evening. Dh guzzles the rest.

Anyway I wisely invested tge £4.50 in two very nice bottle of cider. Sound very posh don't I Grin

Anyway the elderflower and line Kopparberg is very nice and I might drink the strawberry and line one as well Confused

How much do you lot get through a day?

Winkly · 20/01/2012 22:20

None, now.

Previously I could sink a litre a day, possibly more.

I still miss it. Calorie free and delicious.

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 20/01/2012 22:38

Me a glass a day now, sometimes don't even finish tgat.

What the actual fuck - is this a spoof thread or a thread about a thread?

Winkly · 20/01/2012 22:43

I didn't think it was either.

I used to be addicted to it. I mean a serious addiction as in getting through two bottles a day. My brother was too. When Iceland started doing home delivery he used to order in 60 bottles of diet coke and have them deliver it. Bet they loved him!

Tastes like cack in Sweden tho so now I'm on anything I can get my hands on frankly.

you are not being unreasonable imo. Any shop is being hugely stupid to not have it in stock and big companies like Tesco can have it moved from one store to another in the blink of an eye.

Ask for the manager and tell them how inconvenient it is to travel to another store and would they please organise for some to be delivered for free?

You don't know til you try.

MrsBonkers · 20/01/2012 23:22

I'm an addict too Blush
Tesco are doing 8 cans for less than £2 at the moment. Perfect for in the car.

PreviouslyonLost · 20/01/2012 23:51

Winkly One sip made me blow up like the Hindenburg and as I was cheap 'n' cheerful even back in the 80's (was all only cans then) and as you couldn't close a can I never bought the damn stuff...

My bones are probably still heading for osteoporosis, fizzy or no, but at least I was never an addict Wink

Panda Cola was pretty shite the lowest of the low as far as I can remember Grin

MissVerinder · 20/01/2012 23:58

Me and DP could get through 6 litres a day, but since the price went up 20p a bottle, I refuse. My shopping bill per week has dropped. Considerably...

ComposHat · 21/01/2012 00:02

How has anyone on this thread got a tooth left in their head with all this fizzy shite they're drinking?

Fiendishlie · 21/01/2012 00:08

It's diet, Compos, no sugar. But I am a bit worried; I drink about 2 litres a day and wasn't aware that was a bad thing

lollilou · 21/01/2012 00:12

I'm ashamed to say I only like the full fat version, the diet stuff has a weird taste to me. On the subject of Coke though I've always wondered why they don't make a caffeine free version (apart from the diet stuff) I can't drink it after 9 at night.

Boomerwang · 21/01/2012 00:13

Well I can tell you why it's a bad thing since I did it myself:

Your skin goes horribly dry or pasty
You're permanently semi dehydrated despite the amount of water in the coke
If you get spots they never truly go away for the above reasons
Your concentration is affected
You can feel bloated a lot of the time
It can make you constipated or have irregular movements

I had terrible spots for two years and went to the doctor for help with it. He prescribed something called Eumobase or something like that and it did absolutely nothing.

Soon as I stopped binging on diet coke and having juice instead my spots went away and never came back.

stressheaderic · 21/01/2012 00:15

Mmmmm, lovely Coke. I know it's filthy disgusting shit but a cold can straight from the fridge = bliss.
£1.92 for 8 cans in Tesco? Rude not to.

Boomerwang · 21/01/2012 00:15

They do have a caffeine free full sugar coke... or maybe they stopped making it?

I tried the caffeine free diet coke for the reasons I stated above and it just didn't taste as refreshing although I could drink it.

ComposHat · 21/01/2012 00:19

Sugar or no sugar, the acid will still bugger up your choppers.

Honeydragon · 21/01/2012 00:27

I gave up completely last year, it as awful. But my skin improved, I lost weight and bizarrely I always used to suffer terrible chapped lips but now they are fine. I also noticed my sleep pattern greatly improved.
