I have just been sent this link by a friend who is a step-mum. You may want to have something soft for your jaw to land on when it hits the floor.

do you think they are really divorced? possibly they are living happily in surburbia and will have supper together tonight and a bottle of wine - that if work is finished on time Wink

GirlWithPointyShoes · 19/01/2012 15:18

I am always baffled by peoples thinking. Why can you not form an opinion on a person without being influenced by their status/gender/job? Isn't her actions alone enough for you to think "Gosh as a person she's not very nice"

Is sheep-like a word?

This..exactly.

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 19/01/2012 15:19

I am not defending her. I am saying she fits the stereotype that the DM and some people on this thread like to believe.

foglike · 19/01/2012 15:20

She's not a stereotype she's an individual.

And a crap one to boot.

pipoca · 19/01/2012 15:22

mad as a box of frogs.....

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 19/01/2012 15:23

Well of course she is. That is the point I am making! She is unusual amongst single mothers but she fits how the DM want to portray them.

I have not seen one person on this thread who seem as though they like to believe that all single mothers are evil/bitter/mad you said that.

Made Coffee come out of my nose I was laughing so much.

Oh god, she must be Liz Jones's idiot henchwoman.

Kelly Bradford: with her outrageous opinions.

That she has every week.

To a deadline in the Daily Mail.

Pendeen · 19/01/2012 15:28

The photo looks like an audition for a remake of the 'Adams Family.'

squeakytoy · 19/01/2012 15:28

I havent seen anyone on this thread who thinks that she is ok to behave like that.

I have seen a few threads in the past where posters have behaved in the same way, and I have seen them told how unreasonable they are being.

There is every chance that the woman got her material for her article after spending a while browsing here too. Grin

foglike · 19/01/2012 15:28

I will respectfully like to say you are talking out of your hat HDS.

You're seeing things that don't exist here methinks.

We'll leave it at that ehh?

Sorry I am not really sure why everyone is having a go at me saying she fits the DM stereotype. Kayano made a whole list of things she wouldn't be if she was a single mother. Why did she feel the need to make that list? Most single mothers aren't like that. They put the children's needs first.

foglike · 19/01/2012 15:35

It doesn't matter if she fits into a stereotype it's the fact she's a total tit and a manipulating scumbag we're discussing gossiping about.

GirlWithPointyShoes · 19/01/2012 15:36

I'm not having a go, Just a discussion! :) Kayano was making a list of the things she learned about being a single parent on MN most likely from other single parents. It was a very positive list IMO.

OP posts:
Kayano · 19/01/2012 15:40

I said why I made that list on the actual list Confused

I made it because I feel that having 2 seperated
Families etc is stressful and sad enough without adding seemingly unnecessary drama to the situation.

On both sides.

You made a child together with your partner and if anything happened between me and DH I would try my utmost to be reasonable and not put barriers in te way.

I have looked at a lot of different perspectives on MN in the step parenting and lone parents forum and just as some step parents and NRp can be UR, so can some RP by putting rediculous and unfair restrictions in place.

That's why I made the list. We would be naive to think that people don't think like this or do this. I've seen it first hand with my BIL and stbxsil. It's an awful situation and I would try not to exacerbate it by treating a child as my posession

Tmesis · 19/01/2012 15:41

Neither Kayano nor CamberwickGreen said that at all. CamberwickGreen said that she's seen loads of similar "my children are not to see XP's new GF under any circumstances" threads on here (and so have I, as well as loads taking completely different views), and Kayano just said that she had learned a lot from the threads on here, which I didn't take in a negative way at all -- everything on her list is stuff you will see suggested over and over again on MN.

QuickLookBusy · 19/01/2012 15:42

She has issues which need attention if she isn't to really mess up her DS.

Are the DM just trying to generate another Liz Jones type? She gets the paper lots of attention so maybe they are looking for a single mum type loon just for a bit of variety?

Kayano · 19/01/2012 15:42

Thanks pointyshoes

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 19/01/2012 15:43

It was a positive list, but it is also typical of what most single mothers do already. Why did she feel the need to say it - to counteract the negativity of the article and to prove she wouldn't behave like this woman. Well the majority of women don't behave like that. It shouldn't need to saying.

Anyway, I'll leave you to your gossiping Grin

Kayano · 19/01/2012 15:45

But if anyone on MN knows me at all looks for reality they know that I am obsessed with lists, plans, organisation and backup plans - just in case Blush

So I always have a list lol
I have also after dealin with SIL had a sit down convo with DH about sensible behaviour should we split up

I'm very ahem anal

Kayano · 19/01/2012 15:47

haddived thanks for
Ignoring all my answers and explanations fr my list

My list that I don't really feel like a need to justify anyway because
It bloody basic
Common sense
and I never said most women do this anyway
