Ularooo! Neighbours memories

Does anyone remember when Lucy sneaked a bit of Ayers Rock home and then a curse befell Ramsay Street? Every time something new happened, she'd wail 'Ularoooo!'

Or wondering what lamingtons were and saying "you dag" to your friends?

My big crush was Paul, even though he only had a couple of facial expressions.

Billy Kennedy starts taking swimming seriously - best neighbours storyline ever! I was once invited to a party he was throwing but couldn't go Sad

I also loved Daphne, I bet I wasn't the only one here who used to copy her two ponytail look.

ChickensGoMeh · 18/01/2012 14:47

Christ on a bike, Lady. I've come over all unnecessary

Thumbwitch · 18/01/2012 14:48

Ahhh lovely reminiscing...

Remember Cassie the sheep? Short for Casserole...

I cried when Stingray died :(
And Kerry, that was so sad. I loved her wedding in the house of butterflies as well.

My DH was at school with Natalie Imbruglia - she was in his brother's year and apparently she wasn't all that interesting at school.

The actress who played Anne in Neighbours does Aussie PlaySchool now.

I used to work for the agent who represented Mike aka Guy Pearce. On his cv there is not one mention of Neighbours. Although it does admit he was in Man From Snowy River. It's like he is ashamed of Neighbours.
Billy was with the same agency, he is not ashamed of Neighbours.

snuffaluffagus · 18/01/2012 14:58

It was terrible when Kerry died :(

I loved it when Helen died on the sofa but it took them ages to notice.

LadyBeagleEyes · 18/01/2012 15:00

I loved Joe Mangel and Kerry.
Didn't Joe marry again, Melanie, that was it.
She had a crazy laugh.

I watched Neighbours from the beginning too (another gimmer alert Grin). But I stopped when it moved to Channel 5 (can't remember why!)

I have always lusted after Toadie though yum-yum-yum-yum-yum...

WinterIsComing · 18/01/2012 15:08

Harold's shattered glasses on the rock.

Sad

Julie sticking a knife in the toaster and being killed by it Grin

Anyone else remember the eighties mini-series "Return to Eden?" That was awesome.

InWithTheITCrowd · 18/01/2012 15:11

Analise! Remember her? She started out in a relationship with Lou, (about 30 years younger than him) and then the producers wanted to keep her, so they pretended that didn't happen, and she went out with...with...erm....Mark Gottlieb!!! Who had a brother called Stephen, and he was the one who ended up with Phoebe after Todd got killed.
Cody Willis was shot through a Ramsay Street window and died.
Erm,.what else? Remember Clive? And Bertha, his cronky old car? He bequeathed that to Henry Ramsay when he left for no real reason.
Ooh, and also...do you remember connor (bit more recent) the irish lad, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances? He was involved somehow with Carmella the pretend nun, and that whole side of harold's family who died in a light aircraft crash. Toadie was his best mate, and there was some sinsiter reference to connor being buried alive.. but then they must have got new writers because they never mentioned him again.

There are so many bizarre neighbours memories. I could go on all day!!

Phil who had Debbie and Hannah had a wife called something or other (Julie?) and he also had a son called Michael who was evil and tried to make it look like Julie? was going mad. Think it got quite dark for Neighbours. Does anyone remember this and also how the storyline ended?

Hannah Martin a.k.a Button was once my waitress in a restaurant in London.

Didn't Phil go out with that odd boy who fancied Helen Daniels' Mum and they nearly split up because he was allergic to her perfume?

No it wasn't Brett Stark's mum, that was Cheryl married to Lou, mother of Lolly. They split up after she had an affair with one of her fellow hostages when she was kidnapped in South America.

Maybe it was Todd's Mum, whoever it was they lived in Mrs Mangel's house.

Groovee · 18/01/2012 15:34

How many wives did Jim Robinson have? I remember plain Jane, there Hilary Robinson the annoying cousin? Gaby who opened a boutique in Lassiters. Those were the days.

RuleBritannia · 18/01/2012 15:39

If no one else has posted about them, lamingtons are Australian cakes. Sponge cakes made in a rectangular tin (about 1.5 inches high), cut into squares and then covered in chocolate and rolled in desiccated coconut. We had an Australian temp at work and she made some to bring in to us all. they were lovely. Therese, are you reading this?

katz · 18/01/2012 15:50

Julie didn't die by sticking a knife in a toaster she fell off a roof sleep walking I think, Debbie got the blame for a while. Debbie was anorexic and went o life with rosemary daniels.

The gottliebs were mark Stephen and serendipity.

I loved the house of trouser with Connor, Stu, lance and Joel. Lance was Anne's brother, weren't they twins too and didn't they have an older brother too?

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 18/01/2012 15:52

There was a great episode when Jim and someone else (played by Terence Donovan, Jason's dad, can't remember the character's name) accidently took magic mushrooms whilst lost in the Bush.

HappyAsEyeAm · 18/01/2012 15:57

Jim (Alan Dale) is in Hollywood now - he was in 24.
