Have you ever seen a thread end just after someone has written 'Gavel' or 'End of.'?

I realise some people do it ironically, but many don't.

Psammead · 18/01/2012 09:12

Isn't it just used as a way of saying 'I am really certain I am right and no-one will sway my opinion on this'?

I am always surprised how easily irritated people are by certain words and phrases.

redrubyshoes · 18/01/2012 09:12

What if you are an auctioneer though?

chinam · 18/01/2012 09:13

I like when people say gavel. It amuses me. I'm working up the courage to post gavel on a thread myself.

Hullygully · 18/01/2012 09:13

When I use it, it is because I am the Supreme Being and therefore my word is law.

PoultryInMotion · 18/01/2012 09:13

Methe You know the little hammer the judge hits when he/she declares the sentance. That's a gavel.
