To think that quoting past threads/quiches on MN does not prove you aren't a troll?

You know when someone says 'name changed but not a troll - missing toaster, poo troll etc'. It doesn't really prove anything, does it? Any lurkers could read all that and still be a troll of some sort, no?

Am bored, can you tell? Grin

Nobody knows for sure, Northern, however previous form on other forums indicate that when one has a hunch, it's pretty damn easy to dig a little deeper.

wannaBe · 17/01/2012 16:39

who is this regular long term poster. Someone pm me please.

Tbh I think the more dramatic the thread, the more I find it hard to believe that anyone would be taken in by it. "I'm locked in the bathroom having just been beaten up by my husband/I'm having contractions and thinkk I'm going into premature labour/I've fallen down the stairs and have broken my leg could someone ring an ambulance." And you're posting on he internet? really? Hmm I think the people that take advantage like that are horrible but equally I think the gullible that get sucked in by it are equally to blame, because a scenario where someone would post on the internet in the middle of a drama just isn't remotely plausible IMO.

Kungfu - have you had that baby yet?

I don't know Rock - I don't think those trolls are even pregnant. Just badly damaged people I guess.

Ooooh KungFP - is he a good little chap then? I want to see this gorgeous bundle of new baby in the flesh. Chop chop and come into town Grin

TheLightPassenger · 17/01/2012 16:40

LeQueen - occasionally the poster does fess up. Which then leaves you in the situation of wonder whether the new "truth" is also a pack of lies Hmm. Or the photo of their child/description of child's medical treatment has been blatantly c & p ed from another website.

Magneto · 17/01/2012 16:40

I've been here a while now but I name change all the time so noone seems to notice me... But I notice you Wink

However despite my name changes I have never felt the need until now to say:

Generally Shirl, I think that's the case, but I also believe there has been the odd one that follows that route too. Damaged? I don't know, are they really? IMO they're just out to cause people mental harm because they can't get their 'kicks' in RL. But I am a cynical old bat, so who knows.

BrianSurgeon · 17/01/2012 16:43

Noooooooo Hully and Pag? really?

Wink
FellatioNelsonsDog · 17/01/2012 16:44

Oh don't name change all the time - how can we ever befriend you if you stay so elusive? Pick a common theme and name change around it so we can still recognise you - that's the way to do it. That is what us professionals do. Grin

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:46

Iwould love to change my name, as I don't like getorfmoiland any more, but it's crap when you do so as none of your old mates recognise you, and you feel a tool saying 'it's me getorf'. I changed my name recently and wanted to keep it, but went back to getorf in the end to make it easier.

I just add extra vowels and numbers to change it about to reduce searching and trouble making possibilitierd.

BrianSurgeon · 17/01/2012 16:47

Fel, funny you say that, I was jsut thinking some upthread mentioned "plain Jane superbrain" - I thought that soundsed cool, may use it for a namechange as it's in the same theme as my other names :)

FellatioNelsonsDog · 17/01/2012 16:47

me too Getorf.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 17/01/2012 16:47

No idea, just felt like being a bit nice. In truth I think the ones who are vampiric are revolting - and they never, ever just FUCK OFF. There's always a couple of them floating around.

I'm looking at YOU vampire trolls. (I'm sure they're reading this)

Who ARE they?

BrianSurgeon · 17/01/2012 16:49

You can ask Mardy (or was is Maryz) to try a nice anagram for you GetOrf, they may come up with something both recognizable and funny

RockStockAndTwoOpenBottles · 17/01/2012 16:49

They will be, Shirl, 'cos it's all about them innit. That's what they love. There'll be a sparkly new vampiric thread in the next 48 hours.

BrianSurgeon · 17/01/2012 16:50

Grin Mary

What is it with the word BRAIN - why is it so hard to spell for some

LadyBeagleEyes · 17/01/2012 16:54

I remember one of these troll threads a few months ago, where the poster was in a midnight car dash to rescue her daughter from her inlaws, and her ex.
One poor poster dared to express doubts and she was hounded from the thread.
It was deleted, but there were numerous threads about threads afterwards accusing her of being smug because she'd been proved right Confused.
It's one of the reasons I never call troll on a thread, as people get rather annoyed about being sucked in and end up blaming you.

FellatioNelsonsDog · 17/01/2012 16:56

Is that my subtle clue Maryz? Ta. xxx Grin

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:58

I remember that ladybeagle. It was such an extraordinary thread, completely unbelievable, and any Hmm faces were battered.

Odd.
