To think that quoting past threads/quiches on MN does not prove you aren't a troll?

You know when someone says 'name changed but not a troll - missing toaster, poo troll etc'. It doesn't really prove anything, does it? Any lurkers could read all that and still be a troll of some sort, no?

Am bored, can you tell? Grin

nooooooo TSC

Who? (just ignore me)

Psammead · 17/01/2012 13:27

WannaBe - the Nottingham person's real life name doesn't start with M, perchance?

A forum I modded had quite a few younger members. Two of them started a relationship of sorts - I think mostly on msn, although it spilled over onto the forum too so it was quite clear to everyone.

I went on for months and months - maybe even a year. It was very sweet. Until the day the 'boy' made a big, confessional post telling everyone that he was actually a woman who was doing research on a paper of gender roles on the internet for her degree. She only confessed because her 'girlfriend' had somehow managed to find out.

i think it hilarious when someone says namechanged, pandabear green, dogdo faeces

that means they think if they are a newbie, no one will give them the time of day and look down on them and only "respected regulars" are allowed to post

wow - that shows MN in a great light LOL

W0rmy · 17/01/2012 13:28

ooh, spill TSC c'mon

CamberwickGreen · 17/01/2012 13:29

I reckon most trolls are bored regulars anyway.

they always are

there is one regular on here, though havent seen her for a few weeks - who faked her death on another forum. She forgot she was dead though and sent someone a Merry Xmas text LOL

TheMonster · 17/01/2012 13:31

It's one of the problems with an on-line community, I guess.
I know of one too, TSC. I wonder if it's the same person.

scuzy · 17/01/2012 13:31

got you need alot of time and energy for all the trolling and many personas though dont you!! i mean how in the name of god do you remember what you said and to whom .... crazy!!!!

W0rmy · 17/01/2012 13:34

Oh now I really have to know who that was Camberwick how funny, - not about faking death of course, but forgetting.

wannaBe · 17/01/2012 13:35

Psammead,

yes it does.

Do you know her?

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 13:37

Wannabe thats fucked up.

Why would it enter your mind to do that? I hope you dont come across her again.

Psammead · 17/01/2012 13:39

I am not sure, wannaBe. The one I knew on a different forum had a quite unusual first name starting with M. She caused a lot of trouble. The police were brought in in real life.

TSC I am dying to know who you mean Grin I might have the vaguest of notions.

salmonskinroll · 17/01/2012 13:42

TSC - that is creeeeepy! But also very sad. I feel sorry for the author losing a friend, or finding out he never actually existed.

camberwickgreen exactly! If you simply name changed and didn't quote past threads, would no one answer as you were just a newbie?

OP posts:
TheMonster · 17/01/2012 13:43

The police???!!! That's awful.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 13:45

I have no fucking idea who you all mean.

It's not me is it? Grin

GooseyLoosey · 17/01/2012 13:45

The thought that you need to post details of past threads to demonstrate your veracity if you post something controversial daunts me. I have been here many years but cannot remember threads from one week to the next so would have to do a search to remind myself of what I have forgotten in order to prove I was around and remembered it in the first place, thus providing conclusive proof I am not a troll.

AKissIsNotAContract · 17/01/2012 13:49

I feel a bit sorry for people who go to such great lengths to make up sad stories. I know it's really horrible for the genuine people who offer support and get caught up in the lies they tell but I can't help feeling that trolls like this must have very sad lives if they make things up to get attention.
