You know when someone says 'name changed but not a troll - missing toaster, poo troll etc'. It doesn't really prove anything, does it? Any lurkers could read all that and still be a troll of some sort, no?

Am bored, can you tell? Grin

I fondly remember watching Neighbours twice a day.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:02

I remember shrieking at the OC, at the sight of a VERY HANDSOME Jim Robinson playing an american multi millionaire baddy.

I kept expecting to see Helen Daniels turn up in California with her stroke face.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:04

INeighbours used to be on at 9.25 and then repeated at midday, then they changed it to after Blue Peter to appease all the kids whio were addicted.

The most memorable Neighbours episode for me was the one where Mrs Mangle tried to steal Bouncer off thingumybob. It ended on a cliffhanger (thingumybob calling Bouncer, bitchface Mangel calling Bouncer WHICH WAY WILL BOUNCER GO? and I cried at the injustice.

ShirleyForAllSeasons · 17/01/2012 16:05

Do you remember when Jame took off her glasses and was beautiful. except for needing her eyebrows waxed

I've read this sort of thread before and have taken careful note of all the troll spotting techniques. Still can't bloody spot any though, just have no nose for it.

Flying Doctors - wasn't Shane from Neighbours in that? I used to fancy him something rotten.

And, with regards to the question up there about Prisoner Cell Block H (think it was about that anyway), don't know the answer, but can I just say - Googie Withers. Hth.

Psammead · 17/01/2012 16:11

I remember that Bouncer episode. Didn't Mangle have a doggie treat palmed or something?

Was it Mike who had Bouncer? I had such a crush on him.

Jux · 17/01/2012 16:11

Do people who start with Sockpuppetry go on to become Trolls? I would be interested to know if there is any career progression.

OK, I'll admit that the only reason I've posted here is that I want a PM too (if there are any flying around). Pretty please, I am a long time, poster and entirely genuine and I can look up quote any number of classics to prove it.

LadyBeagleEyes · 17/01/2012 16:12

I don't think it was Jim Robinson that was the dashing young doc.
I think it was Shane.

FellatioNelsonsDog · 17/01/2012 16:13

I loved the Sullivans. And I really loved Crown Court. That opening theme music was so strict and scary - oh, the anticipation.

Psammead · 17/01/2012 16:13

Arf @ career progression.

TheLightPassenger · 17/01/2012 16:15

oh yes, plain Jane superbrain, the oh so original teen show trope of remove the specs and phwoar! Hmm

BarryStar · 17/01/2012 16:16

Shirley - I remember that episode, she was bloody pretty. And Mike (think that was his name) was rather nice too if I remember rightly.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:16

YES it was Mike, and that bitch Mangle had a doggy chew in her hand, to scupper the results.

I also loved Crown Court. I skived school a lot as a child (my gran used to want the company and kept me off school, god knows how I learned to read) and I basked in the strange and wonderful world of daytime telly in the 80s. Crown Court was bloody ace. And that fat Italian woman who taught you to paint. And the hateful Mrs Mack in Take the High Road. (I used to think Take the High Road was filmed in a foreign country due to the highland accents).

They rehashed the Jane unveiling in the 90s, they had a c haracter called Phoebe who was a geek and had ghaslty glasses. Everyone at school called me Phoebe because I was a dweeb as well and had a pair of Deirdres, and also looked remarkably like her. She had a Cinderella moment when she started going out Todd.

I never had my Cinderella moment. I had those fucking glasses til Iwas 19. Sad

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/01/2012 16:18

Sorry Maryz

Proudnscary · 17/01/2012 16:18

Gosh what an interesting and chilling thread this has turned out to be!

I'm obviously extremely naive but I had no idea this kind of thing went on - well 'known' regulars trolling and people pretending to die and everything

I've never namechanged for any post, partly because I don't want to feel I am 'running two personas' in any sort of dishonest way.

ariadneoliver · 17/01/2012 16:19

WannaBe I am also a moderator on another site and we have had a repeat troll who invented a pregnancy, twins and then topped it off with the supposed death of one of the twins. Sad She started off posting quite normally and so it took a while to suspect who she was, it was made more difficult by her moving house since the last persona and thus having a new IP address. She ended up getting caught because the length of her invented pregnancy was months too short. I resent the amount of time I have to devote to trolls and spammers

Psammead · 17/01/2012 16:21

Bouncer would so have gone to Mike.

I think that was the first introduction I had to true, unpunished, unnoticed injustice in my life. I kept thinking it would all work out ok in the end, but no. Poor Bouncer had to go live with the witch and her fat son afterwards.

wildstrawberryfish · 17/01/2012 16:21

What about those threads that are funny and people enjoy the hilarious updates, but they are actually just made up? Is that the same as trolling, or does it not count because no is upset?

cornflowers · 17/01/2012 16:21

myOhMyOh does the poster you're referring to have a thread on the go ATM by any chance?

BarryStar · 17/01/2012 16:23

You missed all the pm's Mary, there was multiple pm swapping whilst you were boiling your spuds Grin

I once did a "spoof" thread where I pretended to be a literary characters and posted the character's dilemma. I lasted all of about a page because I felt so guilty that people were taking me seriously and investing time and effort in giving me advice. I would make a carp troll.
