I know that this post may have some mixed reviews and may even get me slated but I can,t help it.
Someone I know although she is a genuine case her and her husband have as much as me and dh coming in and with a brand new car thrown in for good measure.
I can only dream of a new car and I work my tripe off 5 days a week as well as dh whilst some people can sit at home and get the same income coming in it seems really unfair.

If you really want a potted version of how disabled people are percieved or how the establishment wants them to be percieved, watch the inexorable 'Saints & Scroungers' on BBC1 in the mornings.

Tales of multi thousand pound fraud by evil tricksters and stories of deserving tragics who are tearfully greatful for help from normal people willing to give up their time to offer them crumbs of comfort.

The crashing irony of this programme is that the sinners are not disabled and the saints are suffering due to the terrible difficulty in getting disability benefits.

Today - a woman simply called WTC and claimed her children and OH were on DLA so she got the disability premiums. No checks were done, they just took her word for it.
A man left blind by an assault (they made it clear lots of times he was a random victim so you were allowed to feel sorry for him. They also got in that he was an ex squaddie) was turned DOWN for DLA and ESA. Totally blind.

But you know what people are going to take from that programme? Disabled people claim fraudulently and that there are deserving and undeserving disableds.

The FACT that the fraudster wasnt getting DLA and the man left totally blind COULDNT get it will pass them by.

Cos people is stooopid

molepom · 09/01/2012 17:04

I dont think that anyone wishes to be disabled. I think they just want the idea of getting the money without actually thinking about what that actually entails.

It's jealousy and lack of thought at it's worst and nothing more.

Peachy · 09/01/2012 17:07

Wubbly gthat's awful

Mind I used to be a fundraiser (paid) for them so think they are bloody fab

Peachy · 09/01/2012 17:10

Plus what that poll I linked to shows is that government misled people about support

I remember reading that this high % of people supported it but it wasn't true

A lot of the crap about people thinking abdly of me damaged my self esteen and it was all BOLLOCKS

TheHumancatapult · 09/01/2012 17:10

Oh and the sick Ie incapacity is different to DLa .

DlA is 40 pages and backed up by lots of medical reports .

But goats where's mind in fact , disabled and a single parent I reckon my sense if entitlement means I should have 2

Well they can keep my grass short well I'm watching my plasma tv and plotting my far of holidays

Peachy · 09/01/2012 17:13

People on IB are being swapped to ESA which is NOT assessed by GPs. But ATOS. So poor bastards frankly.

Glitterknickaz · 09/01/2012 17:14

Oh yes. S&S was a corker this morning. My blood pressure still hasn't recovered (damn my cardiac problems).

Makes me want to put Dominic Littlewood and Paul Dacre's heads together and discharge a bullet through the pair of them.

Sevenfold · 09/01/2012 17:14

Incapacity is no easy task either! The hoops we had to jump through to be awarded it was just as bad as trying to claim DLA (which he was refused for, but yet War Disablement assessed him as 50% disabled!)

We are waiting for them to take the Incapacity benefit away from DH. He is still on Incap, waiting to be transferred to ESA. He gets War Disablement Pension with Mobility supplement (pretty much same as DLA)

I will need to move our family 700 miles to find work because if I dont, we are up the creek without a paddle.

DH wants to work, but physically, and laterly, mentally, cant. He actually puts so much stress on himself by feeling guilty for what he cant do.

With youngest child starting school after the summer, I need a job. I want to work, but living in a small town, in the Scottish Highlands, work is scarce. I will move my family back to a large town, with plenty of job opportunities and hope I can secure something before DH gets shafted with the cuts. We just about manage now, but the next 6 months are going to be hell while we save every last penny to cover the costs involved with moving.

KalSkirata · 09/01/2012 17:18

I dint get no goat. I bet some scrounging faker ate it

Sevenfold · 09/01/2012 17:19

Sevenfold · 09/01/2012 17:20

Glitterknickaz · 09/01/2012 17:20

KalSkirata · 09/01/2012 17:22

Sevenfold · 09/01/2012 17:23

Peachy · 09/01/2012 17:24

Dh's university gives him a trained goat which can sit his exams instead of him.

True fact that

Peachy · 09/01/2012 17:25
