I've been reading a lot threads recently and there are so many of you out there moaning about Sales Assistants/Advisors...We are only human and do sometimes make mistakes!!

That's it....rant over.

OP posts:
BleurghUna · 03/01/2012 19:31

YANBU, it must be hard for shop workers at this time of year and especially in the current economic climate.

breaktime73 · 03/01/2012 19:32

YANBU. Crap pay and everyone expects sterling service. And you have to stand there and take unreasonable sh*t from people who just feel like lashing out at someone, all too regularly.

sheepgomeep · 03/01/2012 19:38

Yanbu I feel the same way. I am a shop assistant and get fed up with customers negative attitude some of the time. Most customers are lovely though.

fallenpetal · 03/01/2012 19:41

NBU did it for years, thankless task for crud pay. Most people dont even give you a second glance or a thank you!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/01/2012 19:42

I'm not sure about this actually.
Most threads on here are usually complaining about bad customer service from a sales assistant, so if you are going to give out shit service then expect to be moaned about.

Wolfiefan · 03/01/2012 19:43

People can be vile! I love it when shop assistants smile at me though. Thanks to everyone in Lush and the lovely lady in M and S the other day... O and Clarks and Molton Brown.
Oh bloody hell I must shop less....

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 03/01/2012 19:44

YANBU

Cuntstomers, the lots of them.

And if you're the bitch who had a go at me about two weeks ago because you thought I was diddling you out of your MASSIVE 20% discount then fuck you. Fuck you right in the ARSEHOLE, you cowbag. That's what I wanted to say to you at the time but I couldn't so I am saying it now. Fuck. You. In. The. Arse. Hole.

Dartfordmummy · 03/01/2012 19:46

Thanks for the support amazing Normally there are reasons behind why we do certain things - like our managers saying we need to push things more, cut back on the amount of credit notes we issue etc.

OP posts:
BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 03/01/2012 19:51

That said, I do moan about shit service.

I am just assuming that OP is moaning about people who go "I went into Boots today to return a sandwich because it had prawns in it and I hate prawns and they said they wouldn't refund it because I had eaten it, then they refused to kiss my arse when I said I would buy my £1 sandwiches elsewhere. AIBU to ask you all to boycott Boots?"

CheerMum · 03/01/2012 19:57

I would like to say a big Thank You to the lovely ladies who work in Clinton Cards in Merry Hill who were wonderful about me returning a faulty umbrella today.

I expect decent service and will always comment to the store management if I think I have received service above (or below) that level.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/01/2012 19:57

But those threads are very rare cunting and even when they do pop up the OP gets shot down with numerous "you are a cunt" replies.

I have generally found that there is a lot of support for sales assistants on mumsnet.

I agree with the OP fully about arsey customers especially the ones that get abusive when they are in the wrong but when she said "there are so many of you out there" along with mentioning threads on here I took it for her saying mumsnet in general was always moaning about sales assistants.

somedayma · 03/01/2012 19:59

YADNBU. customers are either lovely delightful people or utter CUNTS. It's rare you get a happy medium

Mrswhiskerson · 03/01/2012 20:08

Yadnbu I am at the front of a store on cosmetics an get asked for directions not only in the shop but all over the city! And people get really narky if I don't know where something is , the customer service desk is right in from of us ffs

and since when was needing a reciept for a full cash refund a new thing? Why are people still shocked/offended when you ask for a reciept when they want a refund?

Some people need to remember we are there to help and earn a living and just because we get a low wage does not mean we are the equivalent to a monkey/slave/whipping boy.

OTTMummA · 03/01/2012 20:12

OOOH, can i just get this out?

Was covering someones 15 min break before i went off to the doctors because i was seriously unwell a few weeks ago, and some C.U.N.T told me i was a miserable bitch because i didn't smile at him when i processed his transaction, and that i shouldn't be working for this company blah, blah, he was really fucking nasty to me, and you could quite tell i wasn't well.
Well you fucker, happy you made a pregnant sick woman cry and feel even worse are you?

lucky i didn't vomit over you on your way out shitface.

MrsTwinks · 03/01/2012 20:16

YABU... bloody customers!! Had one today who i swear to god told me they didnt need to be measured for shoes as they had just been done "properly" in another shop. 1- i just offered as i always do when people come in asking straight off for size x for their kid as kids grow, and 2 - if we are obviously below your standards for measuring then FUCK OFF. grrr... nearly punched her. Surprise surprise she was one of the (sorry but they invariably are) private school mums who treat us like idiots/scum. I swear sometimes the job has me as a functional alcoholic

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/01/2012 20:22

MrsTwinks... You nearly punched her because OMG she had the audacity to inform you that her child had already been measured and not just measured by herself but by another shop. She saved you the hassle of doing it. Yet you wanted to punch her... Hmm

DressingGownQueen · 03/01/2012 20:23

YANBU. I did it for years, worst job I have ever had by a mile.

I got shouted at on numerous occasions, called a moron and on one particularly memorable day I was physically assaulted. All for minimum wage and crap working conditions.

MayaAngelsFromTheRealmsOfCool · 03/01/2012 20:24
DressingGownQueen · 03/01/2012 20:24

Of course, you do get some nice customers too Smile

MayaAngelsFromTheRealmsOfCool · 03/01/2012 20:25

Ferret, I think it was the condescending use of the word "properly" that got Twinksie's goat.

MabliD · 03/01/2012 20:26

I got spat on once for not giving a refund on a pair of trousers that had quite obviously been well worn and, erm, soiled. She insisted they had never been worn. I wonder how she span that as bad customer service.

I also, more recently, had a woman screaming at me about the 5p carrier bag charge here in Wales. She suggested I place it violently in my rectum.

I wished her a very merry Christmas. And wept copiously at thought of having to go back after maternity leave

sheepgomeep · 03/01/2012 20:27

you can be absolutely lovely to your customer and still get treated like shit.

I remember working in sainsbos on the checkout years ago and I asked (as was policy at the time) would this customer like a hand with his packing. He leaned forward and hissed 'do I LOOK like I need a hand with my packing you thick bitch, Do I look disabled?'

I was Shock Shock and very upset. I was also 12 weeks pg with dd2 and because of him I went on the sick and never went back.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 03/01/2012 20:28

But some people in life are just condescending. If you get that riled up about something so trivial you are not cut out for retail!

MabliD · 03/01/2012 20:29

And yes, I have some lovely regular customers who I chat to in the street and such like, but sometimes the crazies seem to be all you can remember Sad

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 03/01/2012 20:33

Nah, if you get that riled up you're human.
