Air con dries. We have the air con on even when it is warming the car (to dehumidify)

Check if the carpet is getting wet when the roads are wet - it may be you have a small hole that is letting in spray from the road - bloody hard to fix cheaply though as they can be a bugger to find

WoundUpLeaf · 02/01/2012 21:33

I am offended that our posts crossed... :D

Why are you offended? Because you assume that the subject will be offended, because you wish to censor people's actions or another reason? Not judging, just interested.

WelshMoth · 02/01/2012 21:33

AF, last time my windows had condensation from the inside, I found a load of respiring fruit rotting away under my passenger seat. Seems that Moth Junior has yet to realise that the compost bin is outside my car.

Maybe a rogue grape out of your shopping bags is getting you all worried innit?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:34

hole ?

omg, that sounds bad < cries >

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:34

some twat pranged me in my works car park the other month

I haven't been able to afford to get it looked at

it could be that

WoundUpLeaf · 02/01/2012 21:37

Or a loose rubber seal, a rogue grape / spilled apple juice, seatbelt trapped in door. Anything that may be (or may have temporarily) allowed water ingress. Check under the mats - some cars have a habit of damp carpets. Example, the smart roadster had a recall on the seals on the roof which was soaking the carpet behind the driver's seat and causing constant steaming up. We had two made at the same time (his and hers) one of which has the problem and the other didn't.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:39

oh, it could be a grape ?

blimey...such a small thing

woundup I found the idea of grown men passing judgement on women's appearance and getting a big fat laugh out of it offensive

it offends me I don't do "proxy offence" so don't assume i don't know my own mind

because that is offensive

SuePurblybilt · 02/01/2012 21:39

AF - I had a car with a moist carpet. It was the wee pipe that takes screen wash to the back windscreen leaking, under the carpeting. Maybe it's that.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:40

you are very helpful with my car problem though Smile

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:42

sue...maybe it's that

you see (me being a woman 'n' that) I throw my handbag on the passenger floor

it was wet every time I picked it up

it took me a while to realise what was happening, especially since I couldn't see through my windscreen

WoundUpLeaf · 02/01/2012 21:43

AF: me too actually. Would you still be offended if the subjects came on ph (unlikely I know) and said they weren't offended?

I honestly don't know whether I'm offended or not. My initial response was 'meh, ooh is that semi-viscous coupling '. Maybe I was wrong to not be offended (if I'm not part of the solution, I'm part of the problem). Or maybe not.

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 21:45

Moist carpet

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:46

oh, I dunno, woundup

there are people who think "that's not my problem" and there are others who think "I have a problem with that"

I am in the latter group

it's just in my nature

WelshMoth · 02/01/2012 21:46

Blush I admit that it was more of a foul smelling, rotting, wet fruitbowl that I found fizzing merrily away under my passenger seat, rather than a single, innocent little grape.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:48

"that" potentially being a whole range of things that bug you

sexism bugs me

racism bugs me

casual cruelty bugs me

some things don't bug me, that would bug others

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:49

welsh Smile

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:50

getorf...my carpet may be moist, but my mind is clean ....

WoundUpLeaf · 02/01/2012 21:54

AF: and a formidable nature it is by all accounts. When DW asked who I was discussing this with, when I said it was you I got a: 'oooh, nice knowing you'.

Anyway, my original reason for logging back into this rarely used account was to argue against the vehemence of some personalities when discussing something 'borderline' (and this thread has shown the ph thread to be equivocal with some supporters and some against). It worries me that society automatically takes the safe route and will jump to condemn at every opportunity. That route leads to conformity and anonymity (IMHO)

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 21:57

I think you are overanalysing it a bit wound.

I don't think however that arguing against mysoginistic behaviour is taking the safe route, rather the contrary.

ChristinedePizaTinsel · 02/01/2012 21:57

do you have a sunroof AF? The seal on my friend's one had rotted and that caused the carpet to be damp (and the windows to mist up)

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 21:59

ah, you see I think the "safe" route is to say "it's not my problem" and then turn over the telly channel to Alan Carr or some other such bollocks

or to laugh along in case you get thought of as a humourless, dried-up feminist

much more "unsafe" to put your head over the parapet

Animation · 02/01/2012 21:59

"That route leads to conformity and anonymity (IMHO)"

...and name changing.

I agree.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 22:00

no sunroof, christine

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/01/2012 22:01

bloody hell animation, are you still sneaking around in your cloak ? Xmas Grin

Animation · 02/01/2012 22:03
