I mean please. Just flush the damn thing. No one will wake up.

I really don't like to be the one to discover someone else's pool of piss in the bowl first thing.

It does wake people up (especially young kids who them decide it is playtime at 3am) and it is better for the environment not to, it only take s a second to flush it away in the morning so I dont see the problem. Yes to flush poo straight away but if its yellow let it mellow Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 28/12/2011 19:27

It wakes me up. Prefer people not to flush till morning if its just a wee. Immediate family, anyway.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 19:28

It would be nice if they flushed in the day round here. Angry

CadleCap · 28/12/2011 19:28

If it's yellow
let it mellow
If it's brown,
Flush it down

aquashiv · 28/12/2011 19:30

Yellow, let it mellow
Brown flush it down

YOu need to get a toilet duck Op

scarletforya · 28/12/2011 19:30

Ah feck the environment! It's disgusting and smelly.

And the more you tiptoe around kids at night the more they'll wake at every pin dropping. They should be able to sleep through normal nocturnal stuff like toilets flushing.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 19:30
  1. If you have used the loo-flush it. Angry
mrsmaltesers · 28/12/2011 19:30

Lol, are they going to read this?!
My ds never remembers to flush. We have tried the ... If its yellow let it mellow thing but he lets evvvvvvvything "mellow"regardless Hmm. He is seven. Teen.

yellowraincoat · 28/12/2011 19:30

Oh God, I wish people would just flush. If you live alone, fine, whatever, I don't always flush if I'm alone and I do a wee. But every morning at my parents I wake up to a bowlful of piss and it's minging.

yellowraincoat · 28/12/2011 19:31

By a bowlful of piss, obviously I mean a toilet bowl full of piss, not that my parents fling a bowl of piss in my face.

PigletJohn · 28/12/2011 19:33

some people think that it's noisy. Some of them actually are. But you can now get a near-silent filling valve, and a very quiet "flapper" valve instead of a syphon. Just takes an hour or so of plumbing time to fit them to the cistern, and might cost you £20 or so for the parts.

aquashiv · 28/12/2011 19:33

I have children of an age that if it goes in the toilet its cause for celebration.

fragola · 28/12/2011 19:33

I'm of the yellow mellow brigade, yabu.

lukewarmMulledWhine · 28/12/2011 19:34

Yabu, it would wake me up, sod let alone the kids.

Actually, we used to tiptoe round the kids when they were babies, as a loo flushing etc would wake them up. But they'll sleep through anything now (4&2). So that disproves your theory scarletforya. If you've got a baby who sleeps soundly, be thankful. Tis luck, nothing else.

aquashiv · 28/12/2011 19:35

LOL yellowraincoat thought a nerve had been hit there, if yr folks were launching wee at you in the morning:0

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 19:36

Nooooo. Just flush. I don't want to see 3 lots of wee in the bowl in the morning then add my own to the mellow cocktail. Yuk.

DoMeDon · 28/12/2011 19:36

YABU -saves water, saves waking.

LydiaWickham · 28/12/2011 19:37

YANBU - I keep telling DH. He won't unlearn being banned from flushing in the night as a child.

ThreeNine · 28/12/2011 19:38

Grin @ yellowraincoat

If its just me and my husband I'm of the yellow let it mellow mindset, just for the environment not the noise.

I flush if people are staying. I sometimes agonise at other peoples houses over whether or not to flush and generally do in the end.

AnotherMincepie · 28/12/2011 19:38

YANBU. Just flush it! Anyone who is woken by the merest sound of a flushing loo should wear earplugs.

mrsmaltesers · 28/12/2011 19:38

A man i know was recently widowed and said that it really hit him when his wife was gone as he could now flush in the middle of the night, as she wasnt there and therefore wouldnt get woken up by him flushing. That really made me cry. (not from a dave angel/eco warrior point of view, i mean)

Not really answering the question, am i!!

MrsCog · 28/12/2011 19:39

It surely depends on the loo - ours is fairly quiet and quick to return to silent - I don't flush it in the night currently as am 30 weeks pg and get up about 3 times, so I do my bit for the environment by doing one flush in the morning. If we had guests over I would though IYSWIM.

However, at my Mum & Dad's their loo is really noisy and makes loud whistling/swishing noises for about 5 mins - I'd be well annoyed if that woke me up just because of a small wee!
