To wish people would flush the toilet during the night?

I mean please. Just flush the damn thing. No one will wake up.

I really don't like to be the one to discover someone else's pool of piss in the bowl first thing.

At certain times of the month (ahem) I would love to not flush. Give the 3 males in the house something to complain about. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 19:54

Sorry didn't mean to kill the thread.Blush back to the wee.........

dreamingbohemian · 28/12/2011 20:03

I can only imagine all you night flushers have never lived in a house where the toilet sounds not so much like it's being flushed as that it's being blasted off to Mars.

carabos · 28/12/2011 20:06

We have a very noisy loo, and we hate our neighbours ( terrace house) so to get our own back for 7 years of broken nights caused by them ignoring doing controlled crying with their DCs, we always flush Wink.

rathlin · 28/12/2011 20:15

I'm not too bothered about an unflushed toilet in my own house (as long as it's only urine) but don't get me started about the loos where I work - I can't believe some of the stinkers that I work with that don't flush the loo when they are finished. They are fast filling so you don't need to stand around for 20 mins before you can flush it.......now that is minging Angry How can you not flush a loo in a public toilet especially in a workplace where there are only 4 cubicles and there is a high chance of someone you know walking into one of them as soon as you leave it.

TalkinPeace2 · 28/12/2011 20:17

yabu
yellow mellow
brown down
especially if you have a water meter

EndoplasmicReticulum · 28/12/2011 20:20

Depends on the noisiness of the toilet. I don't generally flush wee at night, my children don't flush wee at all (and sometimes not poo either, although we're working on that).

Pixel · 28/12/2011 20:21

Anyone who is woken by the merest sound of a flushing loo should wear earplugs
Anyone who thinks they can persuade my ds to wear earplugs is welcome to try. Meanwhile I'll carry on with not flushing our very noisy toilet in the interests of actually getting some sleep. Wink

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 20:21

No water meter. [grin}

Flush
Flush
Flush
Flush
Flush

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 20:22

Grin even. (flush)

PigletJohn · 28/12/2011 20:22

you people with noisy cisterns should move into the 1990's and modernise.

Pixel · 28/12/2011 20:23

Piglet I would, but we have to rent and unfortunately we aren't allowed to mess about with the plumbing. Hmm

TalkinPeace2 · 28/12/2011 20:25

sparkling
you will be on a meter soon - our compulsory switch starts in the next few months

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 20:28

Sad really Talkin? I will be the water police if that happens. No flushing/washing or anything.

Pixel · 28/12/2011 20:30

Oh is everyone having a compulsory switch? I phoned the water company about the disabled discount but you need to be on a meter. They said that we are actually better off as we are at the moment so I don't really want a meter now!

TalkinPeace2 · 28/12/2011 20:32

I'm Southern Water.
When the Isle of Wight switched, total water consumption dropped by over 20%
so everybody saved money
and the pipeline from Portsmouth was no longer needed

all the areas will swap in the end - even those with lots of rain ; because they will want to sell it to those regions who need it ....

Pixel · 28/12/2011 20:35

I'm Southern Water too. Oh boo, something else that is going to get more expensive I suppose. I use the washing machine a lot as I have a semi-continent 11 yo, bit difficult to cut down.

TalkinPeace2 · 28/12/2011 20:37

Pixel
check that dead flash leaflet that came through the post recently - I believe some carers can get discounts .....

roughtyping · 28/12/2011 20:37

YANBU! I think it's really gross too. Bleugh!

KirstyJC · 28/12/2011 20:43

Our toilet is quiet, it's the plumbing that isn't. It flushes, refills, and then when the water stops flowing there is an incredibly loud thump which reverberates through the pipes throughout the house. It does it when the shower is turned off as well.

So I don't flush in the night, but since it is nearly always a) just me who uses the loo in the night and b) me who is first in there in the morning it doesn't bother me.

Although now I come to think about it, it is also only me who is likely to be woken up and since I am in the bathroom anyway it probably wouldn't matter.

Pixel · 28/12/2011 21:26

Thanks Talkin, I did phone up and ask about it but they said we'd be better off as we are atm. Smile

WTAF · 28/12/2011 21:28

YES! YAsoNBU. It sickens me to the very core to see someone else's orangey morning piss sat there. Horrible. I have to flush it before I wee in case any splashes - makes me want to vomit just thinking about it, and I am not generally squeamish about things. I would rather be woken up by the flush than wake up to that.

There'a pink Blue Loo in the shops. Would that make things better?
