It's hilarious.

That massive framed picture on top of the funeral car. The OTT speeches. Kim-Jong Un's hairdo.

It's like something off Monty Python.

Baubles maybe this was the type of laugh you should have in your head then ... perhaps?

Its the kind of 'joke' that will never sit right, no matter how you explain the angle you were coming from.

Some subjects are devoid of any humour.

southeastastra · 28/12/2011 20:45

mn should get a naughty corner so people like op could do and reflect

southeastastra · 28/12/2011 20:45

'go' argh!

the images are very strange

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:47

Reflect on what? On how some people can misconstrue something so much?

OP posts:
southeastastra · 28/12/2011 20:48

i'm joking op Wink

Theala · 28/12/2011 20:49

OP, your OP was inappropriate. Your subsequent attempts to defend yourself are inappropriate. Ffs. You are in a hole. Stop digging.

Kayano · 28/12/2011 20:49

We need a [joke] emotion with the word joke in red. I would say flashy an sparky but it's too NM lol Wink

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:49

Well how dare you joke?! I bet you laugh at the starving millions in Africa as well, you cow.

OP posts:
StickAForkInMeImDone · 28/12/2011 20:50

Is it just me or is MN really weird today?

This isn't the 1st thread I've read that was fairly light hearted but has been distorted out of all shape.

Is everyone still pissed?

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:50

I'm not in a hole. I explained what I think is a very transparent OP.

OP posts:
BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:51

Nah, it's like this a lot of the time, depending on whether the ones who think EVERYTHING is serious business have any lentil-weaving/fund-raising for the PTA to do or not.

Someone will be along any minute to ask why you think that an oppressive dictatorship is light-hearted...

OP posts:
southeastastra · 28/12/2011 20:53

i think it's been distorted too

perceptionreality · 28/12/2011 20:54

The people of North Korea have to live under a regime which commits human rights atrocities in the same league as the Nazis.

There is nothing funny about it at all - those poor, poor people have no life and no freedom and not even food.

It's very disturbing, I couldn't bring myself to laugh about any of it.

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:54

Wasn't Kim Jong-Il mocked in that Team America film? Someone needs to have serious words with those sick fucks.

OP posts:
Kayano · 28/12/2011 20:55

It is sorta like 'don't mention the war' up in here ATM Confused

NinkyNonker · 28/12/2011 20:55

Def distorted.

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 20:56

"There is nothing funny about it at all - those poor, poor people have no life and no freedom and not even food"

Quite.

That's why this thread is called "AIBU to laugh at funeral coverage" not "AIBU to think that oppressive regimes and their despot rulers are a laugh-a-minute."

OP posts:
Kayano · 28/12/2011 20:56

Team America - Fuck yeah!

I actually only saw that this year Blush I'm so behind. My god... I laughed. I must fucking hate oppressed orphans

leaves thread to chill the fuck out

LadyBeagleEyes · 28/12/2011 20:58

I agree with you OP, if the funeral isn't mocked on the next HIGNFU I'd be surprised.
Some people, somewhere have access to the internet in NK, and to ridicule this regime can be just as powerful as outraged posts on various forums.

wherearemysocks · 28/12/2011 21:07

I can't watch any of the coverage without thinking of Team America.

There are many things that I find sad and distressing, but I still laugh at South Park too.

OP I never thought you were laughing at the oppression of the people of NK.

bemybebe · 28/12/2011 21:16

baubles the problem is that in your thread title you referred to "funeral coverage".

50% of that coverage was about public reaction to the news and this is where the misunderstanding came from.

crumpet · 28/12/2011 21:19

Completely agree with the op.

Which had nothing to do with the actual conditions suffered by the populace.

BaublesandCuntingCarolSingers · 28/12/2011 21:20

Honestly, on the coverage that I saw, I saw the massive picture atop the car/Kim Jong Un blarting and some general (I think) talking guff about the heavens crying (the snow) because their beloved leader is dead. There was barely anything of the civilian mourning. This was BBC coverage if anyone wants to call me on it.

OP posts:
crumpet · 28/12/2011 21:24

Come on. This is the guff the NK government are spilling out. Minty python probably not far off the mark.
