to be really frustrated with Ds1 and on the verge of tears.

He is 5, obviously over excited etc.

But the whining and the moaning. Is refusing to do anything he's asked. Tried making mince pies, tried throwing him in the garden, tried Jigsaws. Just refuses everything and is soooo stroppy.

We are taking them out for a walk now but needed to vent.

And breathe.

It's just actually taken five of us fifteen minutes to find the --bloody- hoover Xmas Confused we've got ourselves in such a state of frenzied excitement...

My DS is 5 next week and he has been a pain too.

I sympathise, at the same time as being glad that someone else's DS sounds like they play up like my DS (4). He is a stroppy article and is going through a stage of complete whingyness, uncooperativeness and general horrible behaviour and is completely overexcited and difficult to entertain today - have a Wine

Ds3(5) was awful yesterday completely hyper, a real pain when I was trying to get a few last minute things. Today he is sweet and lovely Xmas Confused. Hope it lasts! You have my sympathy.

They all get a strop on at xmas - is the over excitement. I find they need some quiet time but refuse to have it. Sending them to a dark room with DVD can lead to a much needed nap

oh dear, my DS (nearly 3) is being a pain in the arse and he doesnt really know whats going on with christmas yet so I cant even really say thats to blame

Overtired perhaps? It must be exhausting to be that excited for days on end! I second the idea of a quiet room and a DVD. Finding Nemo, perhaps? It's on Sky Anytime atm. Try and keep chocolatey stuff to a minimum to stop bursts of energy. I remember actually physically vomiting when I was about 4 because I was that excited!

My dd has made me cry today. She is 15. Thinks by saying 'I'm being a bitch' she can get away with it, as she isn't actually calling me a bitch.
She was bullying her brother so I intervened. Now she's in a strop again because I'm doing food prep without her. And a 40 min trip to the shops meant 2 calls on her phone to her friend. So I walked out of the shop ( I said we would look at sale stuff for her) why can't they leave their friends alone for 5 mins!? Ridiculous

valium yep, there's been a week off school/nursery before the holidays this year as opposed to just a few days. Feel like the holiday has lasted ages already!

God mine are beng SO boring! DD1 is 7...and DD2 is 3 they are both acting normal apart from wanting to eat all the food!

We have one of those too Xmas Sad

We've given our 5 year old a box of cards to write to keep her occupied - Father Christmas has 8 cards, the elves have 6 and 'Roodolf' has a fair few too.

She's also re-written all the labels for every gift under the tree. Apparently they're all mine now! Xmas Grin

Phew, thank you glad it's not just me.

Have been for long walk on scooters but he complained all the way. Is now complaining whilst we sit in car waiting for DH to get some eggs.

He is so tired, his sleep is bad at the best of times but has been progressively worse all week.

Im just Sad because we should be having such a lovely day and we're not. Sad

Our local pool has been shut since Friday Trois. I thought they all would be? Apparently no one goes swimming over Christmas so they use it as an opportunity to drain and clean the pool.

Sympathies OP. My children have been vile this week too. I threatened to cancel Christmas on Thursday Sad Luckily, DH is home today and the change seems to have done the trick so they're not being as bad today.

I feel your pain OP ... It does get better though, mine are all off playing Festive Warhammer with their cousins on The Bloodsoaked Fields Of Grandma's Ping-Pong Table and i'm supposed to be washing up and generally doing Chrimbo-prep-type stuff but sod it, I'm going to break out the posh mince pies and watch Game Of Thrones instead. Wink

I feel for you I really do! I put my oldest two (4 and 6) in sports clubs at the gym for three hours this morning. We have caught the train to a nearby city to attend a beautiful candlelit service, they have run around, had treats and played and the only one showing any signs of exhaustion is me - hoping I stay awake long enough not to miss our stop!

I feel your pain.

DD is 4 and has been obnoxious for the past week (house move/country move/staying with grandparents hasn't helped in reducing the excitement & stress)

And me being stressed over the whole moving situation means I'm a little snappier than normal Blush

(we won't mention DH's behaviour either AngryGrin)
