He is 5, obviously over excited etc.

But the whining and the moaning. Is refusing to do anything he's asked. Tried making mince pies, tried throwing him in the garden, tried Jigsaws. Just refuses everything and is soooo stroppy.

We are taking them out for a walk now but needed to vent.

And breathe.

Fluffytowels - I'm doing the church run in an hour too. Not looking forward to that. Especially as DH stays home and I may not even have the extra help of my parents as they are visiting a relative in hospital. Am wondering if the priest will object to her running laps around the altar...

Such is the insanity of Christmas. We, and everyone around them, hype the kids up about having loads of new toys delivered by a magical person, stuff them full of cake and chocolates, take them on endless Christmassy treats and then have to deal with the inevitable outcome! Ah well, it'll be worth it tomorrow when we see their shiny happy little faces. I hope...

My DD aged 7 hasn't slept properly all week - she's just too excited, and it shows. Whining and tantruming - awful- particularly in front of MIL and FIL today. Watching reruns of a pantomime on CItV now - phew.

I too feel your pain OP. V whiney nearly-4-year-old here. Won't watch a film, won't play a game, won't help out with prep, won't do anything basically.
But he is NOT TIRED!!!!!!! apparently. Xmas Hmm
It must be nearly bedtime...

My two (6 yr old DS with ASD and 3 yr old DD) have been quite whingey all day. The anticipation is just too much for them. The whole advent calendar countdown has been quite hard for them, really, and I might revise how we treat Christmas next year (ie. not hype it up so much) as they just cannot wait for the presents and the fun to begin.

They had a trip to the park this morning and have just watched a DVD and are now playing Playstation .

Definately feeling your pain...ds (nearly 4) was awful yesterday. Better today until church, on my own, with younger dc also in tow. He stood and sang the first song with the service sheet over his face, sang 'away in a manager' all the time the vicar was talking (really loudly) and then announced 'time to go home' at the top of his voice midway through the service. Younger dc just howled off and on at inappropriate times and ate everything in sight!

It is bloody horrible in our house!

DD1 (5 and ADHD) is alternating between making DD2 cry, being horrible to me and DP and storming out of the room and howling upstairs.

DD2 is alternating between being her usual sweet self and walloping DD1 when she gets wound up.

DD3 is 2 weeks old today and I would like to freeze her at this age please!

DP is trying very hard to keep his temper, but the strain is obvious.

I have spent the afternoon crying on the sofa, mainly because I had a lovely plan for the evening which has all gone tits up due to DD1. DP and I are wondering how to escape Christmas next year...I would suggest going on holiday instead, but holidays are just as crap.

I'm counting down minutes until bedtime. My DS has got out every toy he's ever owned and trashed my house whilst I was cooking Christmas lunch (had it today as out tomorrow). He also upended sequins over my freshly vacuumed floor. God knows where he had them from. Husband did not surface until 1pm as had hangover and only got up then for lunch. House is tip and I am grumpy.
I always look forward to Christmas and then when it is here I remember I hate it.
Roll on December 27th when I can stay at home and do nothing and have no more people visit so it won't matter that the house is a tip
