I just got an email. Yet when I was booking my Christmas delivery weeeeeeeeks ago, Wednesday was the closest I could get. Bastards.

Closest i could get was Tuesday.
So i agree. They are twatting bastards.

TheFallenMadonna · 23/12/2011 13:51

Presumably it's people who have cancelled.

bigbadbarry · 23/12/2011 13:53

Presumably, but I don't care. They are still bastards :)

I got Christmas Eve but because I have a regular slot/order booked every week (Ocado reserved) and they pre-released slots to Reserved customers a week or so before everyone else, and I booked on the first day. I just put a load of booze in to get it above the minimum order then do the proper order two days before...I'm just dreading them running out of stuff though even so and having to make a mad dash for sprouts or something, then I won't be so smug.

I've done the big Christmas order online with Ocado for seven years running now and it seems I have to book earlier and earlier to get a slot!

Gigondas · 23/12/2011 13:57

I won't use them again as stupidly accidentally cancelled my slot for today on iPhone. Rang instantly but it had been snapped up- no amount of begging etc could get it back (fair enough I suppose my mistake). But their suggestions were just fucking stupid (I could wait up til midnight when new slots released).

Gigondas · 23/12/2011 13:57

Yes was annoyed as an reserved customer and booked october . Apparently paying thousands each year means nothing

TheDailyWail · 23/12/2011 13:59

I noticed yesterday that they had a few available for today and I was a little Hmm too.

SantaffetaClaus · 23/12/2011 14:00

I've said it once. I'll say it again.

Ocado are SHITE.

Use Waitrose Deliver ( www.waitrose.com ) - no delivery charges, I booked my slot in September and they stock 10 x as much as Ocado. ie ALL the stuff you can buy in Waitrose rather than just a selection.

I would love to, Santaffeta - sadly, no Waitrose store nearby so that is not available :( One is coming next year!

Thats interesting Jajas - my experience of Ocado was that it was woefully lacking in stock variety - yet Waitrose had masses. I only use Waitrose at Christmas though, use Sainsbo's the rest of the year.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 23/12/2011 14:06

Waitrose Deliver have what you'd find if you were shopping in your local branch as that's where the shopping is done. Last delivery day is 23rd Dec.

YANBU

Two nights ago I couldn't believe my luck when I managed to get a delivery for today at such short notice. I filled the trolley within 45 minutes (you have an hour max) and then when I tried to pay the bastard thing claimed I had forfeited my delivery time by taking too long. Rang customer services who promptly offered me a delivery time of 1-2pm Christmas Eve even though website was saying nothing available until 28th.

Of course I am quite pleased to have a christmas eve delivery time but am a bit nervous that I will end up with numerous missing or substituted items.

TheFallenMadonna · 23/12/2011 14:22

Well, I just got a text saying they were on the way, no missing or substituted items. Hurrah! I live in fear of being Margot Leadbetter when it comes to having Christmas delivered...

Gigondas · 23/12/2011 14:35

I used waitrose for first time instead of Ocado and was pleasantly surprised by stock range and service.

Also use Sainsburys but issue with them is the computer ordering system is flaky and crashes a lot (loads of threads on here) so wouldn't want to risk an Xmas order.

Also sympathize re not wanting late Xmas eve slot in case they run out.

I got the email about Christmas Eve slots, too. I only ever gor for the 23rd, though, so I have a day to buy any missing items. Tesco have NEVER let me down, but Ocado have just texted to say I I have four substituted and five missing items. Nothing major, but quite annoying.

roundcornsilkvirgin · 23/12/2011 15:15

I stopped shopping with Ocado because they had the gall to charge £££ for xmas deliveries. So I don't care either.

EtInTerraPax · 23/12/2011 15:26

I just had this email- am soooooo annoyed! My 'christmas' groceries had to come Tuesday as no other slots available in my area. V annoyed that the leg of lamb (actually meant to feed my DB and his family after Christmas) is only good until 25th.

Absolutely nothing missing though- and plenty I'd ordered (early in Nov) was 'out of stock' on their site on Monday evening, but still on my delivery Tuesday, so something is working there.

Yes corny- I get miffed about being charged £9 for delivery when I have annual pass too! (Especially as minimum order is so high (I could get a Christmas Eve delivery now, but honestly would struggle to spend £90 as I did a huge Sainsbury's shop too this week.)

Did get £20 off a turkey though (offer via email, Monday lunchtime) so hey ho.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 23/12/2011 17:18

EtIn, slightly annoying re the lamb but surely you'd just freeze it? Appreciate not everyone likes freezing meat but with the price of lamb you couldn't just not use it.

PeaceofCakeAndGoodWineToAllMN · 23/12/2011 17:30

They didn't send me £20 off a turkey! Envy

Mine's due between 8-9pm tonight. I'm not impressed at the charge when I already pay for the monthly pass. I'm also annoyed that it takes so many screens to make a payment because they are still trying to sell you stuff!

It's because people cancel and don't use their slots. Ocado would be daft not to then rerelease them as they would be losing money.

My Ocado has just been this evening. Infact they came early - they phoned beforehand to see if I wanted it early as was in the area. No subs, nothing missing :)

Have used Waitrose the last few years but they have never actually got here. Last twice was due to snow and they said they couldn't get here so we had to drive to them instead. To be fair to them we were compensated with vouchers and champagne, but loads of items were missing or substitued. And there just wasn't the same choice. The subs really annoyed me as when I went round the store myself after - looking for an alternative - there were really close subs they;d nt even attemoted. For example, I had ordered one type of duck which wasn;t availble, but other types were available ont he shelves. Grrr!

So this year I bit the bullet and paid for the Ocado delivery - and I have to say that I am very impressed and will use them again next Christmas.

Hulababy · 23/12/2011 17:58

£20 off turkeys email was sent out earlier this week; got one through here too.
No email re any late orders for tomorrow though.
