Ruined Christmas - AIBU to want to cry?

Sister came round today to stay for christmas with 2 DN's, husband and dogs. Lovely newly clean house ready for Christmas and what happens? Dog knocks over tree and rips apart decorations my daughter made, that we've had for 5 years. Her spoilt little brats feed ENTIRE BLOODY lamb leg (for christmas eve) to said dog. Her DH and mine have disappeared to the pub, she's gone to bed (MY BED AS HER BACK IS APPARENTLY TOO SORE TO SLEEP DOWNSTAIRS) leaving me with 3 kids a manic dog and a broken in half christmas tree. Now transpires that DN1 has climbed onto the bathroom sink and pulled it from the wall, I had water all over the floor before I could stop it, told them to clean it up only to be shouted at by a 10 year old that I wasn't their mum. I cannot believe all this has happened in 1 day, but I'm at my wits end and I've locked myself in the kitchen rather then deal with all that. :( AIBU to just curl up and cry? Xmas Sad

pantomimecow · 23/12/2011 13:56

hang on why is the poorly sister to get up and mind her kids and not their 'well' father who is in the boozer??
Good to see feminism alive and well on mumsnet!
have they had a long long journey hence sister exhausted and kids hyper? i'd get men folk back home one to clear up mess and others to take kids and dogs a long long walk.

calamityboo · 23/12/2011 13:57

ffs i will learn to spell !!!!!!!!!!!

AbbyAbsinthe · 23/12/2011 13:57

But they can't get hold of the DH, can they? And it's not clear what's actually wrong with the sister.

MudAndGlitter · 23/12/2011 13:59

I do love how a woman looking after her own kids is now ant-feminist.

stinkingbishop · 23/12/2011 13:59

loopsy can we PLEASE just all come round. I am raring for a fight.

In the meantime, update?

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2011 13:59

pantomimecow, It is easier to persuade an ill woman to care for her children than a father in a pub. Fact.

Appuskidu · 23/12/2011 14:00

What exactly is the matter with your sister, OP?
What's your relationship with your sister normally like?
Have they stayed before? If so, did anything get broken?

MamaMaiasaura · 23/12/2011 14:00

Bloody awful!! Joe all ok loopsylou. Let us know what happens x

AbbyAbsinthe · 23/12/2011 14:01

I think they're having a MASSIVE ruck Wink

Salmotrutta · 23/12/2011 14:03

I can't stay away from this thread! I'm also hoping the OP is having a massive ruck with the Sis/BiL!

HollyGhost · 23/12/2011 14:03

the sister with a sore back could have asked the men to take the children and dog for a walk rather than going to the pub, since she did not feel up to dealing with them

she chose not to, and she chose not to intervene when pandemonium broke out, and she seems reluctant to pay for the damage

she deserves to be booted out

aristocat · 23/12/2011 14:05

they must be talking shouting to each other ......

DeePanCrisPandEeeven · 23/12/2011 14:05

I want a CNN helicopter circling above, and Kate Adie reporting from behind the wheelie-bin.

Salmotrutta · 23/12/2011 14:06

Maybe the OP could put a very annoying compilation CD on and play it very loudly outside the bedroom door.
Mr Blobby's Christmas song playing on a loop?

Salmotrutta · 23/12/2011 14:07

Oh yes, if Kate Adie's there we know it's war! Grin

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2011 14:08

It's mostly the dogs fault, if you ask me.

3inABIRDsnest · 23/12/2011 14:09

Ohh, drama! No updates?

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 23/12/2011 14:09

Bloody hell!!

If that were my dsis, her and the dh and children would be sent packing!

Themumsnot · 23/12/2011 14:09

OP - get down the pub at once. Send the DHs home to sort out the mess, sit down and have a large glass of wine and turn your phone off.

IdRatherBeInDrinkingMulledWine · 23/12/2011 14:10

im sorry i dont believe one word of this!

MorrisZapp · 23/12/2011 14:12

lol mulled wine, me neither. Fun though innit?

Not sure why the OPs DH should come home and deal with the carnage while OP goes out - what's the justification for that one?

serotoninbutterfly · 23/12/2011 14:12

Angry on your behalf OP. (also marking my place so I can get the ending Grin )

Dustinthewind · 23/12/2011 14:15

'It's mostly the dogs fault, if you ask me.'

Cook the dog then, Tethers and I have recipes. It can replace the lost joint tomorrow.
That will also show your unpleasant nieces that you mean business, and save the tree from being demolished again.

Bloodymary · 23/12/2011 14:17

OMIGOD, kick them all out, and as for the 'D' N saying you are not my Mum, well thank fuck for that!!!
