YABU to find it 'odd'.

Disgusting is what it is!

nethunsreject · 19/12/2011 11:47

Yanbu.

I know they don't mean it like that, but still Hmm

DeepPurple · 19/12/2011 11:48

Yanbu I used to work with someone who called their dd "sexy princess" it made my teeth itch. Babies cannot be sexy!

theincredibequeenofwands · 19/12/2011 11:50

Words are changing though.

Saying that something is 'shit' is now a compliment....!

That said, I also find it odd.

MrsCarriePooter · 19/12/2011 11:52

Ugh. I'm glad I have never heard anyone saying that - that's so wrong!

lynniep · 19/12/2011 11:57

thats...just...wierd...

Having said that though, I often call mine little buggers when they are being monkeys. I mean it in an affectionate way and dont think of it as swearing but whether or not that translates in my tone, I dont know. It probably offends some if I say it out in public.

squeakytoy · 19/12/2011 11:59

language changes..

if you had said you child was gay 70 years ago, people would know you meant your child was happy.. today it means something different..

Same thread repeat, different day !

JosieRosie · 19/12/2011 12:10

Oh I agree - disgusting and creepy. I heard a line in a film one time where a mother described her new baby as 'all fat and sexy' - thought I had heard wrong! Ick!

Is it a reflection of where our society is at these days - that to be considered attractive/cute/adorable you must be 'sexy'? Even if you are a tiny baby FFS!!!

slavetofilofax · 19/12/2011 12:10

Oh God! I have a cousin who does this and she writes it all over fb with pictures of her ds. It drives me mental!

He is not sexy, he is three!!

Who in their right mind would want they small child to be considered sexy? It's just plain disturbed if you ask me, YAsoNBU!

latrucha · 19/12/2011 12:12

I've never heard that but do object when my DD has been referred to a, 'a little honey.' Inappropriate.

PattySimcox · 19/12/2011 12:19

slave I wonder if we share a cousin? Mine plasters pictures of her "sexy lil man" all over facebook

EsmeWeatherwax · 19/12/2011 12:22

Awful, awful awful. When I was in hospital having dd1, the woman in the bed next to mine alternated between saying 'Who's my sexy little monkey!' To her newborn boy, and then saying to his dad that the baby looked like a 'right evil wee fucker.'

Horrified doesn't even begin to cover it.

OTOH latrucha I call my girls my wee honey all the time, but as a term of endearment, not in the sexy little honey sense of the phrase.

choceyes · 19/12/2011 12:22

ugh, you are definitely not being unreasonable.

I had a friend who said that to my baby DS. She was from a different culture though, so maybe it's one of those language things, where it means something different. But everytime she said it I really cringed.

choceyes · 19/12/2011 12:23

Esme - Shock!!

latrucha · 19/12/2011 12:24

Esme - I think that's different from someone saying, 'She's a little honey, isn't she.' Maybe I'm wrong.

lostafrica · 19/12/2011 12:25

Whhaaaaaaat?!!

YANBU. Don't care if words are changing; sexy has to be to do with sex, doesn't it? It HAS to. It's just wrong. from me too...

KarenMillenCoat · 19/12/2011 12:26

Yuck! Sounds so wrong!

Zondra · 19/12/2011 12:27

Absolutely vile!
Inappropriate, creepy & to me slightly sinister.

blueballoon79 · 19/12/2011 12:28

YANBU, its disgusting and I hate hearing it!

lynniep · 19/12/2011 12:28

latrucha - I dont really understand whats wrong with 'a little honey.' To me thats nice - to me it conjures up images of a sweetie pie. Maybe cos I'm originally Northern and people get called 'honey pie' and stuff all the time. Does it mean something different to you?

TroublesomeEx · 19/12/2011 12:31

It is wrong. On another v similar thread recently, I said that "sexy" cannot mean anything other than sexually alluring. It has the word 'sex' in it!

Certainly not a word I would use to describe a child and I'd make all sorts of judgements about anyone I heard doing so and I'd not care that I was being judgy either!

JuliaScurr · 19/12/2011 12:33

Not 'odd', more 'warped' (and a teensiest bit deranged) Smile
