Notabanker how do you cope having such a 'boring' person as a DH? Xmas Hmm

mumnotmachine · 18/12/2011 21:46

I work for DWP- processing JSA claims

jonasmcflonas · 18/12/2011 21:47

Probation Officer - such a brilliant and rewarding job, but currently feel very demoralised and afraid for my future. Boo.

Scoundrel · 18/12/2011 21:47

Medical Secretary. It's a challenge (been doing it for 18 months, every time I think I've cracked something the ruddy NHS change it all around again my poor memory can't keep up! Xmas Confused The money isn't as good as teaching I wouldn't have thought but it's interesting work and satisfying. And you get to spend a good bit of your time with your nose in people's medical notes which can be very interesting Xmas Grin

MollieO · 18/12/2011 21:48

Solicitor working in insurance. Very niche area which means I know most of the people who do this type of work.

MollieO · 18/12/2011 21:49

I'd only recommend my job if you like being disturbed evenings and weekends and on your holidays Hmm

rogersmellyonthetelly · 18/12/2011 21:49

I do Buggerall at the moment and I love it. Only job that hasnt bored me shitless in the first week, but I suspect that's because I spend all day on mumsnet

StealthPolarBear · 18/12/2011 21:49

public health analyst. I love it :o

fhdl34 · 18/12/2011 21:51

I'm a carer for 2 different people, one with severe MS and one with dementia. I used to be a civil servant, and a PA for about 5 years but working in an office was killing me slowly. Love my new job, pay isn't very good but love making a difference. Currently on mat leave but will be going back caring, although might need to find different position if the hours with my current service users aren't available

Xmasbaby11 · 18/12/2011 21:51

Editor?

muminthecity · 18/12/2011 21:54

I'm a TA and After School Club Manager. I love my job, although it's not what I set out to do. I always wanted to be a midwife but I don't know if it's too late now. Maybe one day I'll look into it a bit more seriously.

BirdFromDaNorf · 18/12/2011 21:56

I am a mum of a nearly 5 year old son and a 3.5 year old son. I have set up 3 businesses, bought another and by 2015 intend to have sold 2 of them. All from seeing gaps in a market.

Are you an entrepreneur? Could you be one? Do you have ideas - can you see gaps in your market?

Hope this has given you food for thought....

PreviouslyonLost · 18/12/2011 21:57

Social Worker...go on, spit if you want to.

Dream of opening a place similar to Fuzzy's though!

Foster care is about more than the state of your house honestly Smile ...please look into it, dearth of foster carers mean lots of children left to drift in the care system.

notabanker · 18/12/2011 21:57

BlueCat2010 - My DH isn't boring Hmm

I think what he does on a day to day basis (accountant) is boring. But then he has also shot the same thing right back at me in the past. IT project analyst isn't exactly the most exciting thing on the planet either. To be honest, I never saw myself falling into this, but I have the right background, it pays well, and it's juuuuust the right side of boring that I've stuck with it for the last decade (and a bit).

I don't think my DH is boring at all! Hmm

OliviaMumsnet · 18/12/2011 21:57

I faff about on MN.
Yes I know.
You are ALL Envy

girlynut · 18/12/2011 21:58

Team manager in the financial services industry - administering ISAs and Unit Trusts
Training to be a solicitor but fully accept that it will be impossible to get a job once trained!

cheesesarnie · 18/12/2011 21:59

olivia Envy you have the best job in the world!

phoebemeryll · 18/12/2011 21:59

I work in social housing, tis a good job. Nice public sector perks, but since it's technically private sector it's not getting loads of cuts. Working with people, makes a positive difference to the community, might be an option OP?

Get0rf · 18/12/2011 22:01

Grin at olivia, oh to be a fly on the wall in your office...

I am an aeronautical engineer by profession, changed roles a couple of years ago and now work as a project manager in particle physics research. I love it. I am privileged to work with the cleverest people I have ever known (I don't fit in, evidently).

neversaidnuffin · 18/12/2011 22:01

Mental Health Nurse (Hey Cheesesarnie Wink) Lovelovelove my job.

pastamouse · 18/12/2011 22:02

I'm an Occupational Therapist - specifically a community OT in the adult team of a local Council.

yellowraincoat · 18/12/2011 22:02

In EFL teaching. I hate it also. Crap money, most of the students are rich spoilt brats sent here by their parents on a jolly who couldn't give a toss no matter what you do in class.

Thinking of social work.

Moomoomie · 18/12/2011 22:03

I agree there is a great need for good foster carers. But people need to realise it is not a paid job, you get an allowance for each child in your care, which only covers the needs of the child.
Unless you become a paid foster carer after many years experience.

statueofliberty · 18/12/2011 22:04

Nurse in special needs school, fantastic.love it

BlueCat2010 · 18/12/2011 22:06

Notabanker that was more a dig at you yawning at him being an accountant - I am one too and am sick of people classifying me as boring!
