Gordon Brown that is, at least he was qualified and knew what he was doing... Ok, I do have a bit of a crush, but I am trying to be objective...:)

Cameron, Clegg and Milliband are a joke...

YABTU anyone who seriously believes that you can beat the boom and bust cycle by creating a "booming" economy built on credit is not qualified to run the country.

troisgarcons · 14/12/2011 22:37

Gordon, bless, is the reason the country is in a mess.

Im afraid we all have to tighten belts - and stop the profligate spending and spurious tax allowances etc etc.

It's hard but the entrire welfare stare ran like an out of control train. The sooner its reigned in, and stopped, all the better.

ShellyBoobs · 14/12/2011 22:37

...how could he be completely inept?

Well selling 400 tonnes of the UK's gold while the market was at an all-time low was hardly the work of a genius. It cost the UK around £7bn in lost revenue!

The price that gold sank to when the market was flooded with 400t of Britain's reserve is still known as "The Brown Bottom"...

WhatGoodIsThis · 14/12/2011 22:37

thefurryone, ah, a poster after my own heart.
exactly.
that's why GB makes me see red.

MangoMonster · 14/12/2011 22:38

Every primeminister has made errors. The point is, he tried to make the uk a better place and succeeded on many levels. Current government don't have that impetus.

YANBU.
He didn't get enough time to clear up after Bliar's costly warmongering.

WhatGoodIsThis · 14/12/2011 22:39

Penelope, the man was chancellor for a decade under Blair!

thefurryone · 14/12/2011 22:39

Just wanted to add that I posted before I read the thread and honestly can't believe that some of you really can't see that it was his 10 years as chancellor that got us into this mess.

PeneloPeePitstop · 14/12/2011 22:40

And I still think CallMeDave got in because he's shiney and better at shmoozing. Brown just got on with the job.

winterfox · 14/12/2011 22:40

none of them had the time to mop up the mess thatcher made Wink

TheFarSide · 14/12/2011 22:40

YANBU. Apart from anything else, I would still have my public sector job.

WhatGoodIsThis · 14/12/2011 22:42

Mangomonster, I assume you are also a fan of Blair's then? He made the major changes of the Labour gov't. Brown was barely in power for any time at all - and spent most of that time fighting fires.

applecrumbleandcream · 14/12/2011 22:42

Cameron, bless, is the reason why child poverty is sky rocketing, mass redundancies, civil unrest, cuts in services, cuts in payments to the elderly, disabled, Children's Centres, Sure Start....the list goes on!! Talk about hitting the vulnerable and needy in society... he hasn't got a clue.

MangoMonster · 14/12/2011 22:42

Seriously, think you guys are being harsh on brown, guess we will see how the country is in a few years. Feel really bad for the people who are less fortunate than the average, they will suffer and that's not ethical. The fact is we all will suffer and I don't think many people realise how good we've had.

OP posts:
MangoMonster · 14/12/2011 22:43

No I'm not a fan of Blair, just brown.

OP posts:
winterfox · 14/12/2011 22:43

i would still have my job too, am gutted about losing it and don't know what to do now.

troisgarcons · 14/12/2011 22:44

I have a theory on public sector - pay people to shuffle paper and its cheaper in the long run than the dole, and gives a sense of self worth.

The majority of aren't needed in reality. And we work more efficiently in the private sector.

PeneloPeePitstop · 14/12/2011 22:45

The economy was showing signs of recovery immediately before the election.
Then the ConDems squashed it.

MosEisley · 14/12/2011 22:45

YABU to want to bring back the person who spent us into terrifying debt. We wouldn't have half the problems we do if it weren't for him. 'Prudent' my arse.

YANBU about the crush. I know people with weirder crushes! Smile

MangoMonster · 14/12/2011 22:46

This is what i mean. The ideology of only looking after yourselves doesn't work...brown understood that.

OP posts:
winterfox · 14/12/2011 22:46

i was front line, worked over my hours for nowt and saw people who shuffled papers around keep their jobs, go figure

ShellyBoobs · 14/12/2011 22:46

TheFarSide - do you really think you would? I'm not being facetious; I just don't know what position we'd be in with Brown still at the helm. I mean, we'd still be up shit creek, financially...

I'm no fan of what's happening now but I'm just finding it hard to imagine what the alternative would look like.

WhatGoodIsThis · 14/12/2011 22:46

PeneloPeePitstop
You don't really believe that, do you?
no, seriously, you can't.

winterfox · 14/12/2011 22:47

oh and my job was needed for over 40 years, this government has decided it's worth nowt.

mind really boggles

RobynLou · 14/12/2011 22:47

YANBU
