Even worse than the Military Wives Choir? At least I can rejoice in the motivation of the MWC.

OP posts:
amatuermummy · 12/12/2011 09:43

Agreed. I can see no reason why they even got through the boot camp stage - oh yeah - because they were put together by the judges!

Winkly · 12/12/2011 09:44

YABU to care enough to post this. They seem like nice enough girls and anyway they'll probably have faded into obscurity a year from now like most other X Factor winners.

spiderpig8 · 12/12/2011 09:45

Can't be bothered with x factor anymore.simon cowell is always the winner!

DesperatelySeekingPomBears · 12/12/2011 09:46

I think they're as cute as four very cute little buttons, bless their little pop socks.

aldiwhore · 12/12/2011 09:46

YABU to say they're ghastly. They're cute, fun, and certainly not the usual overly sexual tramp band - so there's a place for them and I can see them being quite popular. Quite refreshing really even if they were flung together, this is pop, most pop is contrived and that's okay. If I had a dd, I wouldn't worry about her being a fan.

YANBU to not like them, its a matter of opinion, I'm certainly no fan!

CherylWillBounceBack · 12/12/2011 09:47

YANBU. The smell of desperation from them is absolutely putrid. Jesy looks so aggressive during the performances I can't help but cringe and I do think Misha B was done up like a kipper just to boost their popularity.

Plus that version of Nicki Minaj's Superbass they did early on in the comp is just the most awful thing I've seen on telly this year.

Cheryl, I agree with you, there is something about Jesy that is just uncomfortable to watch.. she is over animated, always looks to be trying too hard, and looking for encouragement from the others.... Perri is the only one with a decent voice, the rest are karaoke singers.

They actually remind me of a line-up of bratz dolls with the too-heavy make up and fake eyelashes.

FreudianSlipper · 12/12/2011 09:54

ghastly lord who under 70 uses that term anymore

i think they appeal to girls and young women, they can sing can dance a little i can not see the problem with them its pop music, light entertainment and fun (for some)

CherylWillBounceBack · 12/12/2011 09:55

Eloquently put Squeakytoy - those are the exact things I feel looking at her.

Peachy · 12/12/2011 09:58

I'd rather my kids had this bunch of dressed young women as role models / female images than Rhianna et al in their- oh no sorry, in their nothing at all butt nakeds (or close enough).

I also think that when theya re good they are fine, and the bummers will be screened out now as they leave competition stage. Better this than The Wanted, yeesh!

wannaBe · 12/12/2011 09:59

"Cute?? Are you including miss piggy in that?" that is horrible. I presume she's the one who has been given a hard time in the press about her weight? And people wonder why bullying is so rife in schools when grown women seem to feel the need to resort to being quite so revolting about someone who, let's be honest, hasn't done anything to you. Hmm

I won't be buying their single and I didn't vote for them, but really, there are plenty of other pop acts out there, what does it matter really.

2blessed2bstressed · 12/12/2011 10:02

Not bothered either way...as someone else said, if I had a dd I wouldn't worry if she was a fan, they do seem "cute" rather than being overtly sexual a la Rihanna, for example. Doubt that any of us are their target audience anyway Grin

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 12/12/2011 10:04

I like them, they can sing reasonably well and I don't feel like they would die of pneumonia if they stepped outside.

Kayano · 12/12/2011 10:06

Also agree that the piggy comments amount to little more than nasty petty cyber bullying. Imagine if that was your child Hmm

Scholes34 · 12/12/2011 10:06

YABU to care. The programme has had its day, just like Big Brother.

squeakytoy · 12/12/2011 10:06

So far they have been dressed by x-factor wardrobe people, and had their make-up done by them too. They will have had very little to say in what they wore, looked like, or sang. It will be interesting to see what happens when they are left to their own devices.

aldiwhore · 12/12/2011 10:07

Well said wannbe I wonder how much time will elapse before Jesy(?) is pressured into doing some crazy diet or gets so down about the cruel jibes from adults that she ends up with an eating issue or in rehab? It would be a shame, she is fine and fiesty as she is.

They're not perfect, that's what I think is 'nice'. They're teenagers. And teenagers SHOULD make adults tut with their dress sense and OTT make up (child of the 80's me) but thank fuck they can't be accused of flashing their fanjitas to get a fan base.

You don't have to be a fan, but you don't have to be so scathing either, and unfortunately being scathing is rather popular.

aldiwhore · 12/12/2011 10:08

Squeaky they won't ever be left to their own devices, NO pop band EVER is (unless reuniting after a break up 20 years down the line now they're free of old contracts) :)

daenerysstormborn · 12/12/2011 10:09

the miss piggy comment is well out of order. don't care what you think about the group or the programme, that is a disgusting thing to say about someone you don't even know.

ViviPrudolf · 12/12/2011 10:12

A little sum to sum up my thoughts on the matter:

What Aldi said + Squeaky's observation of Jessy - Spiderpigs rather cruel comment = VP's view.

MudAndGlitter · 12/12/2011 10:12

I like them. They look healthy and not as trampy as some. I like jessy she comes across as confident and not letting cruel jibes get to her. If DD or DSD were into them I wouldn't hesitate in buying their cd or taking them to a concert

Peachy · 12/12/2011 10:13

Absolutely wannabe etc, although she WILL end up 6 stone and it will be IMO a shame.

And yes it's cyber bullying, the group were even talking about that on something or other.

I'm another one that would rather DD (and DSD) would emulate Little Mix more than Rhianna, GaGa et all cavorting around the stage in their pants. Their music is aimed at teens (as is the 'pop charts') and I'd suggest that most of us on this board are past teen-age.

Their music is 'poppy' and manufactured - of course it is, what else would you expect from SyCo? But there is room for them in the charts, I wouldn't buy it but then its not aimed at me.

I like their 'style' - perfect for teen girls. Ok maybe that makes me a boring old fart, but I remember only too well sitting with a distraught 14 year old DSD who'd come out of a disco early and in floods because she'd been ridiculed on the dancefloor as being "Too Fucking Fat To Dance". She was about Jesy's size at the time... up until that point has always been pretty pragmatic about being 'bigger' than her mates - knowing fine well that most of it was puppy fat that would go as she grew (and did).

I've now got a 6 yr old who comes home from school asking me if she is fat (she's actually underweight according to the doc).

Pisses me right off Angry and comments like Squeakytoys just enforce this shite.
