Even worse than the Military Wives Choir? At least I can rejoice in the motivation of the MWC.

TBH, if she wants fame it goes hand in hand with stuff like this. She will need to be able to deal with it because it isn't going to stop.

captainBeaky · 13/12/2011 19:03

soup, does that make it OK? People, you are all responsible for your own actions! The world could be a MUCH nicer place!

wickedwitchofwaterloo · 13/12/2011 19:05

Was going to say - what has she put herself up for, for her looks/weight to be questioned?? Why is this the norm?

SoupDragon · 13/12/2011 19:15

Whether it is Ok or not is really not the point is it? It will happen - she will always be too fat or too thin or too something else. It is the price of fame that you will be under scrutiny every time you appear in public. If you can't deal with that, you shouldn't do it.

spiderpig8 · 13/12/2011 20:40

Jesy is 20 a grown woman who has voluntarily pushed herself into an industry where looks are everything.
If she is such a fragile flower ( and she'll get insults much worse than miss piggy) she is in the wrong game.

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 13/12/2011 20:47

Well maybe spider and soupdragon, you could be the first not to denigrate a young girl getting in to a very hard business.
And without people like you, she might have a career where people were not so ready to slag her off about her appearance.

lurkinginthebackground · 13/12/2011 21:03

Well I was thinking I'm glad they are not as polished and false as other bands. Hope they stay like that and it is vile to comment about their looks like that. Hope your child never gets bullied.

applecrumbleandcream · 13/12/2011 21:54

Agree no need for nasty comments about Jesy's appearance. She is a very pretty young girl but definitely been styled wrong.

I like them. I would have preferred Amelia Lily to win though, thought she had the better voice and my favourite in the early stages.

Not keen on the name Little Mix, dd calls them Pick n Mix. Also cringed every week when Tulisa called them her Little Muffins!

SoupDragon · 14/12/2011 07:38

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells, please feel free to direct me to where I denigrated her or slagged her off for her appearance.

As for a "hard business", TBH they won't get much sympathy from me. They will get paid (if they succeed) shed loads of money for doing very little really, in the grand scheme of things. Many people work much harder for far far less.

This is what they wanted: Stardom and all that fame brings with it. You simply can't have the rewards without the price. They were fully aware what they were getting into. With all the tabloid press and sleb gossip that is about nowadays, you would have to be spectacularly naive or thick to to know what you are getting into.

spiderpig8 · 14/12/2011 11:16

wiil you stop calling her 'young girl'.It is so patronising to her.She is 20.

RomanChristingle · 14/12/2011 14:16

I'd rather be called a young girl than a pig!
The fact that she is going to be criticised from all angles doesn't excuse any individual who is doing it imo.

rainbow2000 · 14/12/2011 15:52

I think a lot of it has to do with the way the stylist dressed her.
She looked great with the ripped jeans and the black dress.Nobody could pull off them leggings.I just think leave them alone and let them do their own thing. They arent hurting anyone.

Jinsel · 14/12/2011 15:57

YANBU they are rubbish.

I don't watch X Factor and had no idea who they were until today but they really are rubbish.

Is that the best of the bunch then? Can't see X Factor lasting much longer

spiderpig8 · 14/12/2011 17:22

'I think a lot of it has to do with the way the stylist dressed her'
No it's the shape of her face. It's like a football

Bossybritches22 · 14/12/2011 19:15

spiderpig8 what IS your problem???? Confused (& Soupdragon )

I've been following this thread & am appalled as a mum, that you & others can be so cruel about a young lady who (like many others) has self-esteem issues, but is still someones daughter and a human being with feelings.

Regardless of what they should have known they were getting into, KNOWING what it's like under the spotlight is one thing, but LIVING it with constant negative comment on your every look, dress, scrap of every day living is totally different. A thick skin is needed & I'm sure they'll all learn to grow one but just now it's all new.

The X-factor stylist should indeed be ashamed of him/herself for creating outfits for her that were so different to the others that they emphasised her shape badly. Wether she is 12/14/16 or whatever is immaterial & adds pressure by dwelling on the number.

YANBU to voice an opinion on their talent as singers or lack of it

YABU to harp on about somebody's physical imperfections (as you see them)

SoupDragon · 14/12/2011 19:26

Bossybritches, WTF are you on about wrt me?

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 19:27

Are people not allowed to have different shaped faces then? Confused

RomanChristingle · 14/12/2011 19:29

I think the stylists were instructed to dress them all badly on purpose. Girls wouldn't vote for a perfectly groomed, sexy looking girl group.

FabbyChic · 14/12/2011 19:29

they have great singing voices even if they are a tad rough to look at. I would have thought the little fat one from Romford would have gone on a diet at somepoint.

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 19:31

fabby that actually made me spit my cup of tea out! Have you read the thread?

FabbyChic · 14/12/2011 19:35

Actualy Val haven't read the thread no.

RomanChristingle · 14/12/2011 19:36

I'm of the opposite opinion to Fabby. I think they look fine but are average singers.

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 19:36

I agree roman

spiderpig8 · 14/12/2011 19:43

'YANBU to voice an opinion on their talent as singers or lack of it

YABU to harp on about somebody's physical imperfections (as you see them)'

so you are saying looks are more important than talent?

Bossybritches22 · 14/12/2011 19:50

Soupdragon your post of 7.38

Fabby read the thread.

I'm not going to argue about their singing talents or otherwise, I'm no expert but I don't agree with the harsh comments on here by people who should know better, who wouldn't dare say these things to the girls faces but get all brave & snipy on this thread.

Anyhoo I've got a life to live , night all. Xmas Grin
