To think the teacher should know my sons name by now

Son was chatting in class fair dues so at the end of the lesson son walks out of class teacher runs down the corridor shouting ken ken get back here now son ignores teacher she shouting ken get back here

My sons name is not ken

So ken comes running out the loo sorry miss she looks confused the continues after my son and asks him why he didn't answer

Well he's not ken for a start

The thing that pissed me off is she phoned to tell me what happened well what dose she want his name is not ken so why would she be expecting a reply and he got a 15 minute detention I suspect by then its was more to do with her feeling like a fool thank the talking

Actually there was a Kenneth in my class at primary school. He wore a t-shirt with his own face on it and always, always had nose candles.

I once confided in him that the concept of eternity was the scariest thing I could think of and he chased me round the playground shouting "ETERNITY, ETERNITY" at me. We were 7.

penguinpenguin · 08/12/2011 22:16

lisaroo my grampa did that! My mum does it too, she runs through every female name in the family before getting to mine.

crazycrackernanna · 08/12/2011 22:16

My mate's flatmate is called Ian. I always call him Stuart. And he always responds Confused

HoneyandHaycorns · 08/12/2011 22:20

Nearly wet myself laughing at this thread - fantastic!

CinnabarRed · 08/12/2011 22:20

I always think it odd that my DH's grandmother chose to call her only son (DH's father) Christopher and her only daughter (DH's aunt) Christine. They're not twins. Surely, having called FIL Christopher she could have thought of something else for her daughter?

My grandfathers were Jack and Maurice. My father was Derek - you don't get many of those to the pound.

Get0rf · 08/12/2011 22:23

They call me her

They call me STAY-CEE

They call me girl

Thats not my name

SanTEEClaus · 08/12/2011 22:24

My step dad does that, stares right at you and goes through all of our names (there are 6 of us) boys and girls until he gets it right. He is also forever calling my step sister, his bio daughter, by his sister's name.

Get0rf · 08/12/2011 22:25

One of my grandfathers is called Bonnie. That is the absolute god's honest truth.

MrsPepperpotty · 08/12/2011 22:41

CinnabarRed, my DH's family also do this with their kids' names (Michael / Michaela as well as Christopher / Christine). Why??

My Grandma was called Strawbridge. Beat that.

NewShooz · 08/12/2011 22:41

My uncle is called ken Grin

showofhands - there was a boy at my school called Kevin, who only had one eye as well!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/12/2011 22:44

They all have lumpy heads or one eye!

Grockle · 08/12/2011 23:04

I love this thread. I know two kenneths, both in their 30s though. Both with two eyes as well. And no nose candles Wink

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 08/12/2011 23:09

crazycrackernanna · 08/12/2011 23:13

WorraLiberty · 08/12/2011 23:14

EnjoyResponsiblyIfSleighFlying · 08/12/2011 23:15

My dad calls me "oh bloody hell Enjoy!!!!!!". me, my mum, my sister, two cousins and three aunties have names that start with the same letter and he has never once, in my memory got it right first time.

His name is Ron, not Ken. I had an uncle called Ken. Nice chap.

I think Nice Chap is the way you might describe a Ken.

Sleepingonthebus · 08/12/2011 23:25

I was getting flustered at bedtime recently, and meant to say "Right, toilet, teeth and bed", but I accidentally called my DS 'Toilet'.

He was most upset and inconsolable. We laugh about it now.

I used to work with a Ken. He was Malaysian.

cantspel · 08/12/2011 23:26

My younger son's form tutor spent all on last year calling him Peter.
Peter is a nice name but my sons name is Paul.

ChristmasRose · 08/12/2011 23:26

DH friend keeps asking how things are going with our new baby girl, Audrey

Her name is not Audrey

StealthPolarBear · 08/12/2011 23:33

Was this a wind up thread?

My name is Kate. It is not short for anything. I was once shouted at (as in, telling off from a distance) by a teacher who shouted "Katherine, where are you going?". I ignored her - genuinely had no idea she meant me. :o

muminthecity · 08/12/2011 23:39

My Mum's next door neighbour calls my DD Tracey. Her name is nothing like Tracey, and she's 6 FGS, how many 6 year olds are called Tracey?! Surely that name hasn't been used since the 70s. I've stopped correcting her now though, so poor DD will forever be referred to as Tracey Grin

WillowFae · 08/12/2011 23:39

I teach 300 children per week, some of them for only 35 mins. I admit to still not knowing all of the Year 7s by name!

The Conundrum of One-eyed Ken That Wasn't - In which our Young Hero is ambushed by the Lavatories and Asked to Account for Himself.

Sounds like the introductory chapter to Treasure Island.

pithtaker · 08/12/2011 23:47

{I had a lovely old man called Ken appear in my life 4 years ago.

He just knocked on the door and asked if I knew about the family who'd lived in the house 50 years before.

I said "yes, my grandparents, did you know them?", He was my grandfather's cousin.

Wonderful friendship and much sharing of family trees ensued. Sadly, he died last year aged 85 .

I would never have known so much about my family history if I'd not answered the door that day. < Raises a glass of fizz to Kens everywhere > Wine
