To think the teacher should know my sons name by now

Son was chatting in class fair dues so at the end of the lesson son walks out of class teacher runs down the corridor shouting ken ken get back here now son ignores teacher she shouting ken get back here

My sons name is not ken

So ken comes running out the loo sorry miss she looks confused the continues after my son and asks him why he didn't answer

Well he's not ken for a start

The thing that pissed me off is she phoned to tell me what happened well what dose she want his name is not ken so why would she be expecting a reply and he got a 15 minute detention I suspect by then its was more to do with her feeling like a fool thank the talking

is she scottish?

Isthatajoke · 09/12/2011 19:13

A hairdresser once asked me about my job. I said I was based in Putney. We chatted for a bit and then it dawned on me that they thought I had said I write poetry...I felt too embarrassed to correct them as I had spent the last few minutes semi listening and agreeing it was a great job. I then had to carry on answering questions on what it was like to be a poet. Have never been back!

Get0rf

Bonny could be short for Boniface, a name usually conncted with monks. There might even be a Saint Boniface. Not sure though.

MabelLucyAttwell · 09/12/2011 19:26

I had a Christmas card today from a second cousin called Ken. I've never met him, unfortunately.

MorelliOrRanger · 09/12/2011 19:27

Getting back to the OP - I actually think it's bad manners for a teacher to still be getting one of their pupil's name wrong this late in the term.

However LOLing at some of the stories on here.

Our old neighbour used to call me Rachel and DP Steven (they are both wrong however they are the first initials of our names).

carabos · 09/12/2011 19:30

Two recent babies among family and acquaintances called Gordon, which is in the same genus as Ken IMO.

MabelLucyAttwell · 09/12/2011 19:35

I used to like unusual 'unusual' names for girls. At primary school, we had a couple of sisters called Gloria and Crystal. I liked the name 'Crystal'. both are better than Sharon or Sigourney or whatever the naff name is these days.

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 09/12/2011 19:37

Hooray! I was hoping this thread would return now that I have wine

I knew a Ken and he was a lovely man. Ex-colleague; didn't smoke, drink, ate tons of salad, cycled to work and died suddenly a year into early retirement Sad

He never had a bad word to say about anyone and a great sense of humour. Full complement of eyes.

CheerfulYank · 09/12/2011 19:39

There is a St Boniface Mabel ...at least there's a St Boniface Church near us.

What a terrible name these days though...you know the kid would be called Boner-Face.

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 09/12/2011 19:52

I know of a baby Kendra, which is nice.

JamieComeHome · 09/12/2011 19:53

Kendra is a beautiful name

CheerfulYank · 09/12/2011 19:56

Uck, hate Kendra. It's oddly popular here (I know four or five) and it makes me cringe every time.

MarTURKEYSTEWart · 09/12/2011 19:59

DS's middle name is Alan - I am ROFLing at this thread.

I used to work with a guy who I thought was called Michael. After about 6 weeks he pointed out that not only was his name Daniel, but he had 'Daniel' tattooed in 4 inch high letters on the inside of his arm Confused Blush

JamieComeHome · 09/12/2011 19:59

Maybe because it's unusual in the UK is why partly why I like it

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 09/12/2011 20:02

He tattooed hs own name on his arm, just in case he forgot, so don't beat yourself up Grin

MabliD · 09/12/2011 20:03

This thread has lead me to realise that I have never met a Ken - one-eyed or otherwise.

I did teach a teenage Karen and Mabel in the same class once. And a Mark. I have outed myself to the world, but they were lovely if their mothers are reading! I also know a four year old Keith.

ilovesprouts · 09/12/2011 20:16

my son is called kenzie.

WatermelonSugar · 09/12/2011 20:23

My friend's son is called Leo but my phone's predictive text calls him Ken, so that's what we call him. When I had DS I was delighted to find out that my phone thinks his name is Stan.

Ken/ Leo has two eyes, both of which are beautiful.

CheerfulYank · 09/12/2011 20:26

My health/gym teacher in high school was called Ken. He was looked like an egg with a mustache and gym shorts.

Blatherskite · 09/12/2011 20:27

carabos - my Grandad was called Gordon. His Son, my Uncle, is called Ken :)

I also went to school with twins born on Christmas day called Nicholas and Noel.

Worst baby name I've heard recently was Maurice. The child is to be known as Mo.

MabelLucyAttwell · 09/12/2011 20:28

My second cousin Ken's brother is called Maurice!

maypole1 · 09/12/2011 20:30

Well ladies we are nearly their son told me she called him by his second name today.

He's decided he's gonna roll with it as its the nearest she got all term
