To not want to eat a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings two days in a row?

My BIL has declared he is always going to spend Christmas day with his GF. PIL seem fine with this and have said they would rather we go boxing day every year so they can have the whole family together on one day. Fine, we are happy to do that.

The problem is BIL's GF family are all vegetarians so he has to eat nut roast Christmas day (his choice). However PIL feel sorry for him, so do a Christmas day dinner on boxing day, massive turkey all the trimmings etc. etc.

However, we have a big turkey Christmas day with my family and the last thing I feel like doing boxing day is eating it all again. I get really panicked when I feel like I'm force feeding myself and it was awful last year trying to get this dinner down me.

I know this is exceeding ungrateful and I'm lucky to be getting two fine meals in a row, so AIBU to be dreading day two of turkey already??

Just eat a little, surely? And don't overeat on Christmas Day?

I think YABU because we always have Christmas dinner again on boxing day because we all like it so much Grin

WorraLiberty · 08/12/2011 09:14

YABU really because the food is such a small part of a family get together

Just tell them you're not very hungry and ask for a much smaller portion

Sorted Xmas Smile

GypsyMoth · 08/12/2011 09:16

What a non issue!!!

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:16

Ok so no stuffing myself Christmas day... but isn't that part of the fun?? eating until you can't move and moaning 'don't show me another turkey until next Christmas!!'

There are worse problems to have over Christmas than having to eat the same meal two days in a row, surely? Confused

ddubsgirl · 08/12/2011 09:17

we do cold meat mash veg etc on boxing day instead of a full on roast dinner, yum!

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:17

Sorry sara I must have missed the bit in the rules that said AIBU was for serious issues only...

become vegetarian on Boxing Day. Maybe BIL can blag a bit of nut roast for you ...

ElizabethDarcy · 08/12/2011 09:18

YABU. Many would love to have even one huge turkey meal. Just eat small portions, no problem.

FellatioNelson · 08/12/2011 09:18

And as things to get 'panicky' over go, that is pretty piss poor.

stellarpunk · 08/12/2011 09:19

Yes, you are being VVU! That's the whole point.

Merry Xmas! Xmas Grin

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:19

What ruby said. All the Christmas celebrations are really about the people and are an excuse to get everyone together.

I'm having two turkey dinners in one day next Thursday! Lunch is with people I've been doing some voluntary work with and the evening is with people I used to work with. I'm very much looking forward to the whole day. What/how much I eat has absolutely very little nothing to do with how much I'll enjoy myself.

senua · 08/12/2011 09:19

Count yourself lucky. I was speaking to a Headmaster the other day who says that he has to eat 17 Christmas dinners.

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:20

Great idea carole!!!!

Never said it was against any rules, but really, is it worthy of a thread?

senua · 08/12/2011 09:22

Day1: "isn't that part of the fun?? eating until you can't move and moaning 'don't show me another turkey until next Christmas!!'"
Day 2: "I get really panicked when I feel like I'm force feeding myself and it was awful last year trying to get this dinner down me."

Eh?

ddubsgirl · 08/12/2011 09:22

light my mil says its her fave meal out of the whole xmas time lol,i know my kids wouldnt want to eat 2 full on roast dinners in a row, well my ds1 would lol

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:23

Are a lot of things "worthy" of a tread on here!? It's not for me or you to judge what people want to post about. You don't have to read!!

fuck me, there are a lot of people who won't even get one christmas meal lovingly made for them. You have two.

YABU.

Chandon · 08/12/2011 09:26

this is a complete non problem.

just eat a normal amount on both days.

you stuff the turkey, not yourself!

Lightofthemoon · 08/12/2011 09:26

The leftovers meal is great, perhaps I'll bring my own cold plate of leftovers instead Xmas Smile

Have you got an issue with BIL? Really struggling to see what your problem is.
