to warn you all of the dangers of starting threads on here?

KateMiddIeton · 06/12/2011 17:19

Just over a week ago I started a thread. As with most threads I start I expected a few replies but being in politics I expected about three or four. It's now gone viral. There's a blog, Twitter and Facebook pages, a whole #frothers hashtag trending on Twitter, a mention from the leader of the Labour Party and a second thread that's almost full.

So, AIBU to feel it is my duty to warn you? To warn you that if you will insist on posting threads on here you may just create something you can't stop?

And if you're feeling fed up with the ConDems and the cuts then get over here...

OP posts:

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 19:07

Scarletbanner · 06/12/2011 19:20

YANBU. And YANBU to be proud too. Well done %23frothers !

Scarletbanner · 06/12/2011 19:21

Stupid phone, changing hash tag to 23%. Why? Angry

MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 06/12/2011 19:25

is the only Frothy badge I can find

TheFrothingBerserker · 06/12/2011 19:31

Well done everybody. Some excellent frothing going on! Grin

proudfoot · 06/12/2011 19:40

YABU

Miaowww · 06/12/2011 19:46

YANBU. Can I have a frothers badge too please? Although all these cuts means that covering for all the people at work who are off with stress/ depression/ pissed off enough to just walk, etc leaves me with very little time to actively froth (or see my family Sad )

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 20:08

I don't think that bear can be a frother Voidka. He doesn't look nearly pissed off enough Grin

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 20:10

Ah there's always one Proudfoot.

You're probably right Smile

MmeLindor. · 06/12/2011 20:55

YANBU

I wish I had known this before I started posting on that thread. I thought it would be an interesting discussion, a bit of a laugh even.

Soon I was hooked. I was writing frothy and furious blog posts, criticising the government and even tweeting the Miliband brothers.

I didn't care which Miliband. I was so utterly frotherly under the spell of the FROTH.

:(

Take this as the warning that Kate means it to be.

Just say NO.

but say yes to Frothing and come and support us

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 21:13

Ah yes. The dangers of posting on a thread. Probably deserves a whole thread of its own. But I daren't start it. Goodness only knows what might happen.

Perhaps we need a 12 step plan?

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 22:44

Oh dear! New symptoms include fainting when your heroines tweet about t'cause. Like when Margaret Atwood did earlier.

Now that is what a boast looks like Grin

blackoutthexmaslights · 06/12/2011 23:26

bump

blackoutthexmaslights · 06/12/2011 23:27

and the link again

MissPentChristmasBudget · 06/12/2011 23:29

Margaret Atwood, really?

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 23:32

I know!

I have favourited the tweet if you wish to gaze upon it. Go to twitter.com/tmc_frothers and you'll see it in our favourite tweets.

Credit goes to LoquaciousMinx

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 23:36

To be fair she's probably a nice lady who'll retweet anything... but I can dream Grin

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 23:37

The favourite is only showing Minx's tweet. I have taken a screen-shot to be sure [saddo]

CardyMow · 06/12/2011 23:40

Nope, she definately retweeted - if you do a search on her name, and look down the box at the side when you click on her name, it shows up there.

KateFrothers · 06/12/2011 23:46

Yes I got the RT - I just can't save it as a Margaret Atwood Retweet, just Minx's tweet. And while I love Minx she didn't write The Edible Woman the first feminist book I read when I was 13. Or The Handmaid's Tale quite possibly one of the best pieces of Sci-Fi literature of the 20th century.

I have taken a screen shot of the RT for posterity Grin

(Apols Minx if you have a body of work to rival Atwood Wink)

MmeLindor. · 07/12/2011 09:58

I had a look at her timeline, she doesn't retweet loads of stuff.

QuintessentiallyFestive · 07/12/2011 09:59

Boast!

funnypeculiar · 07/12/2011 10:02

I saw the #frothers hashtag popping up a bit on my feed and noticed Margaret Atwood retweeting - but hadn't been on original thread so hadn't 'got it' - thanks for the explanation, will join in now Smile

KateFrothers · 07/12/2011 10:07

Too right Quint!

Tis not often I get the chance to these days!
