In the park today, DS 20months, toddled off to the roundabout where another child with parent??? aged about 20?? was pushing her around.

The roundabout was stopped by the little girl and DS got on, I helped him up onto the little bench seat and said hang on darling.

Expecting the other mother to push slowly as there was quite an age difference, I had to say "can you slow down a bit" as she pushed so hard and laughed, at that point I went to step in and she pushed again throwing DS off!!! :( He screamed and fell directly onto his face at which point she laughed :0

She said something to her DD?? in another language and kept laughing showing no concern to my screaming baby.

I said "how dare you" at which point another mother and my DH came to help me as DS had taken quite a knock.

I feel quite sick about it. She just laughed at us and then left!

Shock how strange. I'd be livid to be honest. Hope your ds is okay.

LaurieFairyCake · 03/12/2011 21:17

Really?

Why the hell did none of you do anything like call the police?

She assaulted your baby and you didn't report it?

Not sure the age or different language were useful additions to your post.

squeakytoy · 03/12/2011 21:18

Thats horrible nasty behaviour. Hope your little one is ok now!

CrumbsOnTheFloor · 03/12/2011 21:18

She sounds insane. Hope DS ok, poor bubba.

4madboys · 03/12/2011 21:18

thats fucking mad!! i would have had a FIT!!! no doubt about it, iwould have gone totally ape shit Angry i hope your little boy is ok op xxx

squeakytoy · 03/12/2011 21:19

Laurie the language difference could have explained the behaviour at first, as if Op had smiled when asking, she could have misunderstood the slow down request.. but it certainly doesnt explain or justify the next bit of behaviour. :(

DeepPurple · 03/12/2011 21:19

Shock that's dreadful!

Laurie - I think the OP said it was in another language as she has no way of knowing what she actually said to her DD.

cocoachanneloffestivecheer · 03/12/2011 21:20

Oh my god. I'd have gone nuts. I am so angry on your behalf.

Hope your DS is okay.

festi · 03/12/2011 21:20

I may have actually lumped her one.

I think the language was relevent in the post as it highlites the possible barrier in op being able to seek an explination or confront the woman.

I dont think the police would really have done much?

Plonker · 03/12/2011 21:21

What Laurie said.

Why didn't you report this?

GypsyMoth · 03/12/2011 21:22

That's a lot of laughing!

livinonaprayer · 03/12/2011 21:22

What happened to your DS there is awful and I hope he's ok.

That said why the addition of the age? How is this relevant? I was a young mum and find this stereotyping a littleSad

LaurieFairyCake · 03/12/2011 21:22

I'm sure the police would have been interested as she caused harm to a child - certainly if there were scratches on his face.

HandMini · 03/12/2011 21:24

Eeek. Crazy bitch. I'd have screamed at her.

Wafflepuss · 03/12/2011 21:24

OP what did you say or do when this all happened?

Plonker · 03/12/2011 21:24

If the woman had physically hurt OP's ds by knocking him over, I'm pretty sure it would be reported.

If the woman had rode her bike deliberately into OP's ds and knocked him over, it would have been reported.

I don't see why this is different.

It should have been reported.

Poor little boy Sad

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 03/12/2011 21:25

I would like to think maybe she was young (maybe the little girl was her sister???) or the langauge barrier meant she didn't understand that a baby shouldn't be thrown around like that??? BUT my god she was so intent, she laughed as she did it and laughed AT him on the ground. I was so shocked and DS really needed me as he was so upset and has a lump on his head now. I just shouted how dare you and then she was laughing and leaving.....

squeakytoy · 03/12/2011 21:26

I think OP has put the age in, in case the other person was a babysitter or an elder sibling, not a parent of the other child.

Plonker · 03/12/2011 21:27

So why didn't you report her Mary?

tryingtobemarypoppins2 · 03/12/2011 21:27

I wish the police had have been there! How would I have reported it, I would have needed her name/address wouldn't I?? I wonder if I still can now??

lisad123 · 03/12/2011 21:29

That is terrible op, how is ds now?

crazycrackernanna · 03/12/2011 21:29

I would go back to the park and check for any cameras. You might even see her there again.

daenerysstormborn · 03/12/2011 21:32

some parents are just plain weird. we were at an adventure playground with dd & ds on a basket swing. another girl got on with them, her dad came over and took over pushing from me, but pushed them so hard, ds went flying off it, face first into the playbark on the ground grazing his face and ear. the other dad did look a bit embarrassed but didn't really say sorry and just walked off leaving me sat on the floor cradling a crying ds.

Miette · 03/12/2011 21:33

It sounds like the other mother was either on drugs or mentally ill to have laughed so much in that situation. I feel sorry for your son and i feel sorry for her child even more having a mother like that.

sozzledchops · 03/12/2011 21:34

Why have a go at the op for not rushing to report. It happened out of the blue, op was probably shocked, wanted to help her son and probably wasn't thinking straight. I've been in positions where it has kicked off and you don't always react straight away. I've called the police for some incidents and wished I had done on others, after the event.
