There is a photo of a letter going round on FB. Basically showing that Aslyum Seekers are getting their gas and electric paid for over Christmas. My god. The comments people are coming out with.

The points I made about about the whites in South Africa and Rhodesia are valid. You will find that the British were happy to go along with the apartheid regime. White people are still emigrating there to take advantage of the advantages that still exist for them in that country. Is that not a fact? The main tone of reporting about Zimbabwe has been that whites have been displaced from 'their' farms. The news media cares very little about the blacks down there.

Rhodesia was named after Cecil Rhodes, an English man. What does 'hence the Boar (sic) War etc' mean? The British ruled South Africa until after the second world war and handed over power to the minority of whites rather than insisting on fair elections for everyone. The same happened in Rhodesia. When moderate black leaders tried to negotiate with the white Rhodesian government and the British, they were rebuffed.

MrSpoc- The Dutch did not invade and conquer. The initial Dutch presence in South Africa were trading posts in the Cape. Their specific intent was not to settle, but to trade. They did not purport to rule. The settlements gradually expanded, and people of Dutch origin gradually moved to the interior to farm, but the first European country to stake a claim to ruling the territory was the British.
