...when it's still November?

Well it is advent now so we are officially in the run up to Christmas.

Slade, eh? Rock on!

Northernlurker · 28/11/2011 15:34

It's advent now - it's ok.

FantasticVoyage · 28/11/2011 15:39

Point taken about Advent. Although I don't see where Slade fit into the tradition (even though they are old enough to).

I detest that song (and am now wondering whether withdrawing child from nursery on grounds of musical taste, or sending with large ear-muffs would be best option...)

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 28/11/2011 15:50

YANBU

Have a humbug Grin

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 28/11/2011 15:53

I do love christmas and can't wait to put our decs up! But November is too early imo.

GypsyMoth · 28/11/2011 16:00

It's just a song

RightUpMyRue · 28/11/2011 16:02

Cheer up scroodge! Christmas is a lovely time of year.

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 28/11/2011 16:05

Ooooh can we ask for a humbug instead of a biscuit for Christmas.????

Op can your LO now do an impersonation of Noddy Holder's warcry?

If I had gone to my DS's nursery to hear Slade blaring out and tinsel everywhere I'd have been so fecking jealous that I wasn't there myself.

It sounds ace!

Casserole · 28/11/2011 16:48

Yes. You are. HTH.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 28/11/2011 16:56

I would say that its advent and less than a month til Christmas so its acceptable. And yes we do need some Christmas Smileys, when they coming Mumsnet HQ? Grin

Rombouts · 28/11/2011 16:58

YABU

Groovee · 28/11/2011 17:19

They are being unreasonable. Christmas doesn't start until the 1st in Nursery. We still have St Andrew's day to celerate tomorrow seeing as the nurseries are striking in Edinburgh on Wednesday

bananamam · 28/11/2011 17:26

YABU miserable cow WinkGrin

deste · 28/11/2011 17:28

I saw four Christmas trees, lights, displays etc yesterday. I was quite surprised to say the least.

Sandalwood · 28/11/2011 17:30

Is the nursery open over xmas?
As school is all about learning songs for the nativity, the xmas fair etc now.

Rhubarbgarden · 28/11/2011 17:33

Yanbu. I hate seeing Christmas decorations up in November. It just means it's all so tired by Christmas. Our tree goes up a week before Christmas and not a moment before [humbug].

hellhasnofury · 28/11/2011 17:35

At least they weren't playing Fairytale of New York.

SardineQueen · 28/11/2011 17:43

Ooooooooh I love christmas

Our tree went up at the weekend, as DD said the little boy next door said his was up and I thought why not

I googled first to check whether there would be a curse on the house though Blush apparently not [phew!]

Oh so YABU

Xmas stuff in the shops in august is U
Xmas tree up a few days she of dec is not

BleurghUna · 28/11/2011 17:55

I'm with you OP! Your LO will be asking "Is it Christmas yet?" every 5 mins from now on!

WipsGlitter · 28/11/2011 18:06

I nearly complained in our nursery about the decorations going up now. I think it just makes Christmas too big a deal and feeds into commercialism. I think kids need to learn how to look forward to things and this just strings it out too long. I judge people whonpit their tree up in November...

coccyx · 28/11/2011 18:10

Week before is early enough! yes i know HUMBUG

duckdodgers · 29/11/2011 15:10

That will be me then wips Ive had my tree and decorations up for a week, judge away!

We all love Christmas in this house and far from being sick of it by the time it comes it just adds to the excitement Grin

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 29/11/2011 15:11

Unless you work in said nursery and so have to hear it on loop, I don't see why it's a problem have been playing it for weeks in my car

Sirzy · 29/11/2011 15:13

Ds nursery had the Christmas fayre last week so are now in full on Christmas mode! It's great!
