Psammead has put me in charge of pedant baiting when she is in charge at the weekend, when everyone is off at the meet-up. Thought I'd get a bit of practice in.

I know, Fellatio. I just don't find it very easy to be common. It's a failing and a burden

Oh no you won't. Angry I will break the internet to make sure that doesn't happen.

MardyBra · 23/11/2011 18:35

I'm going to deliberately misuse semicolons to wind up talcandturnips too.

OP posts:
TheAlmostFestiveKnid · 23/11/2011 18:36

No. You're not allowed to misuse semicolons. I like semicolons.

Fo0ffysFestiveShmooffery · 23/11/2011 18:40

What is splitting an infinitive? Is it like splitting the atom? Splitting yer kipper?
Do I need to know? Will it help with the washing up?

TheAlmostFestiveKnid · 23/11/2011 18:44

'To wash up' is an infinitive, so are 'to split' and 'to go'. If you say 'to helpfully wash up', 'to deliberately split' or 'to boldly go' you have split the infinitive, i.e. inserted a word between 'to' and the verb.

Fo0ffysFestiveShmooffery · 23/11/2011 18:47

Oh Blush thanks. That's all a bit simple isn't it. Presumably I knew that at 16.

Psammead · 23/11/2011 19:45

I will be in charge of MN from Jjingle's sandpit on Saturday. God help her and sll who sail in her.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/11/2011 20:11

I think toboldlygo Googles her username. That is the only possible explanation.

toboldlygo · 23/11/2011 20:25
