To think that adults who harp on about the Twilight Saga should, well, grow up?!

It really gets my goat everytime a new 'Twilight' film, or harry potter movie for that matter, comes out coz all the women in my office chatter on about it for weeks...!

It makes me feel like im back in high school :-/

Twilight YANBU

Harry Potter YABVU!

hermioneweasley · 19/11/2011 20:22

YABVU re Harry potter.

The twilight thing I find disturbing. It's such a distorted view of sex and relationships. He's an 108 year old virgin who's never even had a wank. That's not healthy.

I don't likeit but I don't really care if others do.

StealthPenguin · 19/11/2011 20:24

YADNBU

Harry Potter is one thing, at least it deals with a lot of adult themes.

Twilight is just a load of badly-written romantic Mills-&-Boone nonsense that's, essentially, an emotionally stunted woman with the inability to smile, trying desperately to choose between bestiality and necrophilia.

CheekyChoppers · 19/11/2011 20:25

Don't get me wrong, I quite like taking the kids to see Harry Potter...

But, if I didn't have children probably wouldn't bother!! It is a kids film after all Grin

No idea what twilight is. Is that a good or a bad thing?

StealthPenguin · 19/11/2011 20:26

It's a good thing Gwendoline. Trust me.

It's hardly teaching teenagers to be self-reliant and mature about things.

When Edward left Bella, she went catatonic for three months and then jumped off a cliff! For Gods sake, woman! Pull yourself together!

Homelybird · 19/11/2011 20:31

Yabu my kids are far too young for either films, yet I have been to see every film from twilight saga and Harry potter one at the cinema and read all the books and love them both!! But then having said that I probably do need to grow up Grin

MollyintheMoon · 19/11/2011 20:32

I wondered what all the fuss was about so watched the 1st one last month. I had to turn it off halfway through. It's beyond awful. She's such a miserable cow. All those nice people wanting to be her friend when she's new at school but she just ignores them to mope around.

Give me Buffy any day.

oneofsuesylvesterscheerios · 19/11/2011 20:33

Love HP as does dd1(10) and it has given us plenty to bond over.

Twilight however... Hmm. some if my friends are having a midlife crisis have read the books so i watched the first film when it was on the tele last week. It was fantastic... as the most ridick teeny angsty comedy. Kirsten thingy - such terrible acting. All I could think of was a French & Saunders take-off throughout. Jen Saunders would make a brilliant Bella.

However, RPatz.... Yes I would.

StealthPenguin · 19/11/2011 20:33

When The Count from Sesame Street is more of a vampire than you, you know you've failed at life.

hermioneweasley · 19/11/2011 20:39

Also, Count Duckula is more of a scary vamp than Edward Cullen

StealthPenguin · 19/11/2011 20:40

And Count Chocula.

And Tinkerbell.

And the Easter Bunny.

LordOfTheFlies · 19/11/2011 20:41

What about the allegedly grown up people on MN who write great long threads about Mallory Flipping Towers like they are real people not an Enid Blyton series.

Portofino · 19/11/2011 20:44

I saw the trailer for the new Twighlight film when we went to see Tin Tin. Looked like pasty undead bloke with lots of make up on, has baby with slightly less pasty looking woman and then gets hunted by angry wolves. It didn't look that appealing to be honest....

TeamDamon · 19/11/2011 20:44

I agree with the give me Buffy any day comment.

Has everyone seen ? Puts the utter creepiness of Edward Cullen right into perspective.

pinkytheshrunkenhead · 19/11/2011 20:46

Twilight, all of it in all its forms is a crock of shit

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 19/11/2011 20:46

Molly

You are so right about Bella. I watched the first one as was curious and just wanted to slap the miserable cow.
