To think that adults who harp on about the Twilight Saga should, well, grow up?!

It really gets my goat everytime a new 'Twilight' film, or harry potter movie for that matter, comes out coz all the women in my office chatter on about it for weeks...!

It makes me feel like im back in high school :-/

Teamdamon, thanks for sharing that. Spot on, especially about the stalking. There's all these teenage girls learning that that's how you tell if a guy likes you. Too creepy for words.

YANBU

i HATE twilight and everything it stands for - teaching girls to be simpering pathetic wrecks who like sparkly things....im so glad my dd who is 14 has the same view! she hates it too!

give me Buffy anyday! she was a force to be reckoned with and a good role model for girls who kick ass!

Groovee · 19/11/2011 20:57

YABU people can like what they want

NewGirlInTown · 19/11/2011 20:58

Well said OP.

Ditto adults reading Harry Potter.

buzzswellington · 19/11/2011 20:59

I read one of the Twilight novels to see what the fuss was about. I still don't know. It's badly written drivel.

I fell asleep in the film. How can a story about vampires actually be so frigging dull?

bochead · 19/11/2011 21:04

fanfiction - my fave author right now is melwolfgirl is my guilty pleasure lol! Then again if by 40+ I haven't worked what a healthy relationship versus sick stalker is then I'm not gonna lol!
True blood is also a bit of silly esacpism.

Would I let my impresionable daughter watch the film or read the books - oh hell no! I wouldn't let my son near it either for fear he'd get arrested.

Portofino · 19/11/2011 21:07

I read the frst Harry Potter and thought it was crap. Fair enough maybe as it aimed at children. Dd loves the films and I will probably buy her the books. I am more excited that dsis has bought her a Famous Five box set for Xmas....

SaggyoldCHRISTMASHUMBUGcatpuss · 19/11/2011 21:08

It is such a load of bollocks. Edward looks like Wally from 'Wheres Wally?'! Give me Eric any day!
The story is thin to say the least, sexist, and generally shite! Jake is the only redeeming part of the whole film, and even he comes a distinct and dismal second when compared with werewolves such as Alcide

Plonker · 19/11/2011 21:08

YABU

I like Twilight. I like Harry Potter. I like Simpsons. I like Ben and Holly.

...and really don't understand why people give a shit about the things that other adults like Confused

clairefromsteps · 19/11/2011 21:10

TeamDamon - that is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Excuse me while I just forward it to everyone I've ever met...

SaggyoldCHRISTMASHUMBUGcatpuss · 19/11/2011 21:12

Porto, Antonio was Ok, it's a shame that Armand was actually a golden haired boy vampire who was turned when he hit puberty! Confused

akaemmafrost · 19/11/2011 21:15

Oh mind your own business, I love the Twilight Saga myself but couldn't care less why some people might not. Why don't you try that ?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/11/2011 21:15

Lol at 'they're just noodles, Michael', I knew that quote straight away Grin

CheekyChoppers · 19/11/2011 21:28

Hehe, I just remembered, DH an I actually went to see the 2nd Twilight film in the cinema (shameful!) to see what the fuss was about...

At the end of the film, the whole cinema actually started cheering and clapping LOL!!! Whats that about?! We were sat there stunned Grin

I'm over 40yrs old and only just found the joys of writing fanfiction.
Adult stuff is so boring and everyone needs escapism.
Otherwise you just get depressed!

ScatterChasse · 19/11/2011 21:40

According to friends though, the latest film could have been subtitled 'Edward and Bella go on Holiday'.

southeastastra · 19/11/2011 21:42

do you not think it brings up some quite interesting points on women today? that they're kind of turned on by sexy vampires

though i guess it has always been the way

MollyintheMoon · 19/11/2011 21:45

Sexy vampires...mmmmm

WhereYouLeftIt · 19/11/2011 21:57

Haven't read the books at all, but watched the first Twilight film - hmm. OK, some interesting ideas in it (albeit poorly executed). Second one - LOVED Martin Sheen, but bored stiff by the rest of it. As was my DS(13).

But the Harry Potter films were fab. As already said, they deal with adult themes; no mooning over moody pallid sullen boys. Just a pity they had to leave so many of the books' subplots out.

I miss Buffy. And Angel. And Spike.

NewsClippings · 19/11/2011 22:38

YANBU. Should be talking about Newsnight instead.

Plonker · 19/11/2011 22:56

Michael Sheen.

And yes, he's fab! Grin
