Oh it is so delicious!

I first discovered it on holiday in France, thought it was just a European thing maybe as they have the salted caramel flavour yoghurts which are delicious, but I've never seen them in England.

Definitely try it!

piprabbit · 13/11/2011 23:44

Co-op do a divine salted caramel cheesecake slice.

Salted caramel chocolates are wonderful (and so rich that even I can stop after a handful one or two.

Give them a try.

hester · 13/11/2011 23:47

Oh god, don't - my mouth is watering.

Salted caramel is just fantastic.

PeelThemWithTheirMetalKnives · 13/11/2011 23:47

Is there ACTUAL salt involved?

We had the coop salted caramel cheesecake today! Grin Delish. I seriously want some salted caramels for Christmas now... It's a taste sensation!

ViviPru · 13/11/2011 23:49

YANBU. Get thee to The Mill Tea & Dining Room, Lyme Regis forthwith and prepare to be converted.

piprabbit · 13/11/2011 23:49

hester - don't panic, it's not salty like crisps or seawater. The salt just makes the caramel even better.
Like adding a little sugar brings out the flavour when cooking with tomatoes - but without making it taste like tomato jam.

PeelThemWithTheirMetalKnives · 13/11/2011 23:54

Ooh, I would like to go to Lyme Regis and be jumped off the Cobb by Captain Wentworth so I may as well educate my palate at the same time. I think I WILL try this salted caramel of which you speak.

hester · 13/11/2011 23:59

Peelie - think of a Snicker bar! It is a bit salty and a bit (ok, horrendously) sweet.

It's like that, but better Grin

piprabbit - not just a convert but a disciple Blush

PeelThemWithTheirMetalKnives · 14/11/2011 00:04

I've never heard of this either. Is it a bit like sweet and salted popcorn? It's gorgeous.

Salted caramel popcorn ice cream from Waitrose.

I treated myself to some last week when I was in a bitch of a mood.

MiniMousse · 14/11/2011 21:13

I love salted caramel. I really want to know how to make it though. Anyone know how? Or got any good salted caramel recipes?

TheProvincialLady · 14/11/2011 21:14

Don't bother making the salted canapes recipe from the Christmas Woman and Home pull out, it's not that great.

hopenglory · 14/11/2011 21:15

mousymouse · 14/11/2011 21:20
