Went to docs yesterday and diagnosed with a really serious infection and instructed to spend at least two to three days resting completely with legs elevated. Am on sofa, have tea, have water, have i-phone, have house phone, have tv, have dd running jobs, have dh ironing and being very attentive. I feel absolutely fine in myself (can barely walk though). MNet seems very slow today and I am almost bored enough to start on the christmas cards!

I think David Cameron is from Jupiter and it should be compulsory for fit people without children to park in the P & C spaces at the supermarket (unless there is a blue badge space and then they should take that) and that school place arguments should be settled by public wrestling matches between the mothers concerned and that it should in any event be illegal to send a girl to primary school unless her ears are pierced, will that do? :o

marriedinwhite · 12/11/2011 15:34

Ooh no, something that hasn't already been done to death please.

OP posts:
Andrewofgg · 12/11/2011 15:34

And of course sorry too about your infection, get well soon. Thanks

Andrewofgg · 12/11/2011 15:36

I think the Jupiter bit may be new marriedinwhite

marriedinwhite · 12/11/2011 15:36

Well, I once went to a dinner party with David Cameron and I have to agree he could have been from Jupiter at 25. Possibly not Jupiter because it wouldn't sustain life but certainly from an alternative universe.

OP posts:
Andrewofgg · 12/11/2011 15:37

I wonder which planet he thought you were from?

cardibach · 12/11/2011 15:38

It wouldn't sustain life as we know it marriedinwhite. Does Cameron qualify?

marriedinwhite · 12/11/2011 15:39

And actually I did park in a disabled space at Waitrose yesterday (thought I'd better stock up after the visit to the doctor) but I was just going to wave one of DS's crutches if anyone complained Grin

My controversial thread would be:

  1. 47yo gets in to debt to have IVF (egg doner) ends up with twins and now can not afford to cloth them - should the doctors check the people out better to make sure they can provid for the children before implanting the eggs?

  2. Lots of young women are now getting PND - is this because of an unrealistic idea that children are accessories and are in shock at how much their life has to change due to having children and more so if the do not have younger Brothers or Sisters so they have no idea what having a newborn is like?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/11/2011 16:02

Ooh, they're good ones Just !! Grin

Hmm... I'll have a think...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/11/2011 16:04

In fact I'm actually quite interested to know the AIBU opinion on #2 Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/11/2011 16:06

"Should pregnancy be considered a disability and get a blue badge and free car. And maybe incapacity benefits"

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/11/2011 16:08

Me and my one year old are watching Saw. At what age would this become inappropriate?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 12/11/2011 16:08

Where has everyone else gone? :(

marriedinwhite · 12/11/2011 16:09

Similar one to his Andrewfogg I would imagine; possibly closer to Venus

joanofarchitrave · 12/11/2011 16:13

I could put a thread up about banning the army? Appropriate time of year for that.

During my year off from Mnet I got seriously into Slate and Salon and eventually found a bit of dodgy software so that I could watch stuff on www.thedailyshow.com. Any good?

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 12/11/2011 16:13

Is it just me or are Tinkerbell and Co a bit too tarty?

ragged · 12/11/2011 16:19

AIBU to get into debt to have a cleaner, and not clean my own house because I can't be bothered to get off my Lazy Arse, and I'm sure it would damage my mental health to clean my own house regularly?

That'll get 'em going. Wink only the debt part isn't true

MollyintheMoon · 12/11/2011 16:19

I have 16 children all aged under 7.

AIBU to live in a shoe?

Justnearlyhere · 12/11/2011 16:20

I think Tinkerbell has a very short dress and too low cut at the top - definitely too tarty for a disney fairy.

MooncupGoddess · 12/11/2011 16:23

Do you have a view about feminism, OP? Or about dogs? Bring it on!

Mumsnet Classics is always a good distraction, saved my sanity on a hideous delayed train journey recently.

Justnearlyhere · 12/11/2011 16:24

AIBU to let my 2yo watch Scooby Doo?

AIBU to not feed my 6mo at night so he goes 9 hours without food and if he crys i just put the dummy back in untill he goes to sleep as i want 9 hours sleep?
