I've fallen in love with this wedding dress. It fits perfectly within our budget, but my aunt says I shouldn't care about the cost on my wedding day, and certainly not walk down the ailse in polyester! She's offered to pay for something more expensive so i'll feel special on my wedding day, but i'll feel a million dollars in this!

It's your wedding. Do what you want. You won't please everyone so do what you want.

Memoo · 06/11/2011 14:11

Bit too much boobage for me but if you like it then go for it.

CombineArvester · 06/11/2011 14:12

If you like it and you can afford it, wear it. If she wants to treat you, then think of something nice she can treat you with - can she buy cake or something.

£350 is still pretty expensive for a dress you will wear once (and it's nearly double the cost of mine which I don't regret at all). And it's what you want. If your aunt wants to pay to make you feel special, could she contribute to hair and make-up instead?

joanofarchitrave · 06/11/2011 14:14

Looks great. Go and try it on.

Do you think your aunt would be interested in giving you a going-away outfit instead? Not that I had one, but that's going to get a lot more use and is worth paying something for. Or a really nice necklace to wear with the dress?

celticlassie · 06/11/2011 14:18

I think it's lovely. Obv, you'd have to try it on, as that's the problem when things are a bit cheaper, but I'd wear it!

Memoo · 06/11/2011 14:18

I wore a £25 maternity dress that was in the sale at Debenhams.

Kytti · 06/11/2011 14:23

OMG it's from LITTLEWOODS! Don't you know the whole world is trying to boycott them?!

Only joking - I love it and it's your wedding, you do what you like. Stuff the rest of them, it's YOUR DAY so you do what YOU want. It's fine if your aunt feels that way, but you're not going to please everyone.

And you SHOULD care about the cost, even if only a little. A wedding is one day. Your MARRIAGE will last a lifetime. Good luck! x Thanks

butterfliesinmytummy · 06/11/2011 14:23

You must wear what you want, regardless of what others think. It's not a cheap dress - can she buy your Louboutin shoes to go with it?

I wore a cranberry red bridesmaids dress from Monsoon when I got married - it cost about £100 and I would choose it all over again.

MixedClassBaby · 06/11/2011 14:25

It's not polyester though, it's satin. If you like it, get it. Mine cost half that and was perfect for me. Your aunt probably just wants to make sure you're not compromising because of cost.

ooh I like it !!

smellimelli · 06/11/2011 14:28

I did the same when I got married but went with the "you can't wear polyester" thinking and bought an amazing dress that was vvvv expensive instead. I felt lovely in it but sometimes, even to this day, I still think about the cheaper dress and wonder if I'd have loved that as much.

I think you should wear what you want and love- price (as long as you can afford it) shouldn't matter!

blonderedhead · 06/11/2011 14:28

Go for it, my dress was the same price from Debenhams, so glad I didn't feel the need to fork out thousands and it was definitely 'my' dress... People get married in cheaper and more expensive frocks all the time, just choose what's right for you.

maresedotes · 06/11/2011 14:30

It's lovely. Wear what you like - it's your day.

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 06/11/2011 14:30

Love it!! WEAR IT!!

I got my wedding dress from littlewoods 2yrs ago, i loved it!!!

NightFallsFast · 06/11/2011 14:32

Your wedding should be about having a fantastic time, not about how much you spend. Wear what you want.

But what about the second one down here stores.ebay.co.uk/perfectdress88810?_trksid=p4340.l2563

How they can make a wedding dress and send it from China for £12 is beyond me, but they have great feedback!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 06/11/2011 14:32

As your aunt says, cost is immaterial. If that's the one you like, have it. If your aunt baulks at the cheapness, suggest a beautiful 'going away' outfit to go with it.

SoupDragon · 06/11/2011 14:34

It is ruined by the zip IMO.

Apart from that, it is a dress you will wear once. Wear the one you love, not what people think you should have. I had mine made by a dressmaker in silk because I wanted to rustle.

OldGreyWassailTest · 06/11/2011 14:36

I love it ! 27 years ago my wedding dress cost £16 in the sale.

confusedpixie · 06/11/2011 14:37

That's a lovely dress :) Thanks for linking, I'm keeping note of that!

And it's your choice as the others have said, screw it and wear what you want to wear!

LottieJenkins · 06/11/2011 14:38

NightFallsFast Im staggered at that Ebay dress too! How do they do it???

SoupDragon · 06/11/2011 14:41

"How they can make a wedding dress and send it from China for £12 is beyond me"

Sweat shop I would imagine.

MollieO · 06/11/2011 14:42

I assume that the dresses from China are made by migrant or child labour. Can't imagine feeling like a million dollars in a dress I know has been made by slave labour.

I think the Littlewoods dress is lovely. Half the battle with wedding dresses is finding something that looks nice and is comfortable to wear.
