DH REALLY showed us up tonight

DH and I were invited to my parents for dinner tonight along with our DD(6). Also invited were my sister and her husband along with their DD(5).

Everything was going well until an advert for DisneyLand Paris came on TV and DH very uncharacteristically spat "oh fuck off with your screeching kids, what a pile of shit."

DH never swears and certainly never talks like this at someone elses house. Everyone was pretty shocked, mum pulled cats bum face but nobody said anything, I just gave him "the look".

DD then said "but daddy, I'd like to go to DisneyWorld". DH then replies "yes, DisneyWORLD, there is a massive difference between Disneyland and disneyWORLD. DisneyLAND is in France and it's cheap and nasty, people only go there when they can't afford to go to America. If we do go, we'll be going to the REAL disneyworld in the USA."

dd squeals in delight. Sister looks at her hubby who shakes his head. DH see's this and adds "well come on, Disney Paris is a cheap cunt holiday!".

My mum at this point stands up and busies herself in the kitchen. I am furious. DH knows full well that my sister and her family are going to Paris next year. I ask to have a word in private and in the hallway I ask him what on earth he's playing at and why he's acting so odd. He says I'm over-reacting and he's just trying to liven up the evening. When we go back in DD is telling DN that she's sorry she won't be going to the REAL disneyworld as her parents are cheap. I tell her off and DH shouts "USA" to which DD copies and they both start shouting it. Mum comes back in and complains about the noise and my dad asks me how much DH has drank and suggests we take DD home. First time I've ever been asked to leave my parents house Sad DH still refusing to apologise. AIBU to not let this one drop? he's totally shown me up in front of my family.

Ah now, Universal is definitely worth pissing off a plane load of people with a screaming child for.

I've been 5 times (since being a girl) and loved it! Been to Disney twice (US) and thought it was wank.

CopperLocs · 04/11/2011 17:48

It's the refusal to apologise that I don't understand. Why would you behave like that in your PILs HOUSE?? And make two parents AND their small child feel inferior? AND encourage your DD to behave like a spoilt brat? Does he not see the blatant disrespect in this situation at all?

I would stand my ground on this and refuse to let it go until all partys involved have had an apology. How embarrasing for you OP :(

6 pages and no OP! I had a chortle too, chanting USA is hilarious.

tobyrat · 04/11/2011 18:09

If he's behaved like that and it's out of character, then there is much more to it.

I swear like a trooper, PILs don't mind the F word. But even I draw the line at the C word at PIL's house!

stepawayfromtheecclesCakes · 04/11/2011 18:15

USA USA!

But only because Universal Studios is there Grin Disney is shit no matter what country it's in.

Xenia · 04/11/2011 18:46

Glad I don't mix with people who speak like that. Why swear? Was he like this when you chose to marry him?

LineRunnerBonfireMother · 04/11/2011 18:52

Did you dream this?

KRITIQ · 04/11/2011 18:59

Parc Astérix is better, so I've heard. Damn, it's in France as well!

harrietlichman · 04/11/2011 19:03

No way, he was being an utter nob - I would've killed him...

BeBe98 · 04/11/2011 20:21

I think I've read the whole thread and would like to summarise as follows....

The OP's DH has got a brain tumour or fractured skull after a knock on the head which occurred when he fell, rushing to the loo, because of a likely water infection.

Ultimately, this led to the DH shagging the OP's sister and having a mental breakdown over crudites at his in-laws with the sole intent of making brother-in-law jealous by insulting the French. DH got pissed (or was it stoned - possible syphilis induced rant?) and uttered swear words in front of the children. This is especially outrageous as everyone knows that such language is illegal other than on mumsnet and punishable by divorce.

Then DH started chanting elitist slogans which horrified everyone other than his DD which leads us sensible mumsnet sorts to conclude that it is vital that the OP leaves the bastard immediately before everyone realises that Disneyland in Paris is indeed shit or worse (and perhaps most importantly) that there is indeed a Disneyland in the USA! The shock of this threatens the stability of Europe and will eventually lead to Greece defaulting on her debts in outrage and the collapse of the Euro.

However, none of this matters because it is suspected that the OP is a troll!

I flipping love mumsnet I do! :) :o Wink

manicbmc · 04/11/2011 20:27

I'm still confused. Grin

jalopy · 04/11/2011 21:29

Xenia, what are you doing here?

Has private education been mentioned on this Disney thread?

clam · 04/11/2011 21:44

No, but the OP's problem would be solved if she went straight out and got herself a high-paying top-notch full-time career. Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 04/11/2011 21:47

Gosh, he sounds very stressed.

He clearly didn't want to go - next time don't take him. Try to persuade him to the docs.

Stess/ pissed not a good combo.

StealthPenguin · 04/11/2011 21:47

That was the greatest post ever...

DelGirl · 04/11/2011 23:10

i hope people don't have to eat their words for the op's sake Hmm

Shutupanddrive · 05/11/2011 09:02

He's a knob, don't make excuses for him
Hth

lauzb · 05/11/2011 09:22

Wow....he sounds like a bit of a bell-end with a drink in him...and a bit of a snob as well

YANBU - he was totally out of line..."trying to liven up the evening" What? By being deliberately rude and antagonistic to your family...? Classy.

They wouldn't allow that in Disneyworld you know...

Proudnscary · 05/11/2011 09:25

What are you all on about, I always start shouting 'cunt', 'fuck', 'Disneyland's better than cunt faced Disneyworld ner ner ner ner ner' when I've had a couple of drinks? God some people are sooooo sensitive.

FlyingPirates · 05/11/2011 09:27

Given the shouting/chanting of USA USA I can't believe that no-one has mentioned the op's username...

Becaroooo · 05/11/2011 09:31

God, he sounds like he was vile. So sorry.

And is now refusing to apologise?

You need to find out whats at the bottom of his problem with your sis and sort it out!!! Shock

LynetteScavo · 05/11/2011 09:35

He lost it.

Sounds like he's very stressed, and probably about money.
